They are absolutely everywhere in Tpvp and they are such an annoying spec to play against. What did they gain from the patch to make them so popular now? Also if they turn out to be the new hambow I would honestly prefer hambow.

Just people from pve playing them, thats why you see them more often

It’s due to the influx of all the new players. It’s really not that good of a spec, yeah it’s pretty decent in 1v1. However group fights it’s useless. I’d rather fight mm necros then other necro specs.

It’s just the influx of PvE’rs to the gametype.

Plus, there was a Reddit post on simple builds for new PvP’ers to use, and the most popular were ham/bow and mm.

PvE-ers want the easiest, most effective spec they can find. Minion master with absolutely 0 skill is pretty effective and can carry bad players vs. anyone who isn’t pretty darn good.

These same players probably tried 1-shot thief builds, but got beat by a few engineers, so moved to the next-easiest spec that isn’t really hard-countered by popular specs.

This. I gave a MM build to a friend of mine who wanted to try pvp and now he is always bragging about how he is able to 1v2 and kill people.
