Because capturing and defending points seems to put you at the bottom of the table every time.
15 years of mmo’s and X million dollars and still no joy.

Watching the leader boards for dozens of games its hard to even garner a trend – often its not even the same people carried over that top the charts on the next game. If anything ive Rangers and Thieves manage to top more often in the last few dozen games but they dont dominate and that might just be random factors like class density in the arena.

Is it kills?, because kills in this game are utterly meaningless. How often does the person that actually drops an enemy player get the finisher and thus the kill? 25% of the time if that?. Maybe more for strong solo 1v1’ers like Thieves.

Its something like :
5 pts / kill
10 pts / teammate revival
10 / objective neutralized / captured
xx pts / “boss” killed, iirc its 15 per treb 25 per forest boss 50 for guild boss
10 pts / ennemy finished
10 pts / objective successfully assaulted / defended (how it is determined im not 100% sure but i think it only happens when an objective is actually defended and you have to be there from start to end of the contest period)

Then u get 5 glory bonus for each of those 8 categories if you are the best of your team and another 5 glory if your best overall player of your team, maybe 1 or 2 others i didnt pay attention.

And finally the 30 glory bonus for victory.

The best is to manage to mix some zerging with some solo action so you can snag the “best of team’” off different categories.
Also finishing ennemies and reviving teammates is often the key in the fight outcome and therefore it gives more points than just spam killing w/o terminating your ennemies or saving your teammates (10 pts each versus 5).

Zerg around capping points and stomping anyone caught in small groups or solo. Don’t worry about getting backcapped, secondary objectives or anything that will help you win, the win bonus is much smaller than the glory you gain by zerging from point to point. The only secondary objective you need to worry about is the trebuchet, because it smashes 8man trains. Oh, and bring some aoe or bounce to make sure you tag everything. Focus fire will put you at the bottom of those zerging.

The rewards are cosmetic though so unless you really need the approval of your fellow gamers, just play however you like.

If you’re not playing to win, don’t complain when you lose.

CeCaKonVeu has the basics, I’ll just recap and fix the things he missed:

Kill player (you need to deal maybe 500-800 dmg for it to count) – 5 points
Revival – 10 points
Neutralize/capture point – 10 points
Trebuchet hit – 3 points per target hit
Trebuchet kill/repair – 15 points
Chieftain/Svanir killed – 25 points
Guild boss killed – 50 points
Enemy killed in uncontested area (skirmisher, though it seems to not always work) – 10 points
Enemy killed while you are defending point – 10 points (Node needs to be 100% captured for your side)
Enemy killed while assaulting point – 10 points (Node needs to be captured by opposing side when target is finished, neutral points give no bonus)
Top player each category – 5 points
Win bonus – 10% of your point total

That should be everything, don’t think the Capricorn cannon gives points per hit like the treb does. Also, player kills are defined as dealing a certain amount of damage to the target, doesn’t matter who gets the killing blow so long as you did some damage. Chieftain/Svanir give points by the same criteria, but only to the team that did the killing blow (so if you have 5 people hitting it and I come along (being on the opposite team) and deal the killing blow I’m the only one who gets points)

The Unnamed[ThUn] – Desolation
Vayra – Elementalist
Forkrul Assail – Mesmer
