What's is up with tPvP ranks????
I don’t think there is any sort of balancing done with Tpvp.
My favorite was when I was teamed up with 4 other necromancers making it a 5 necromancer team and we had all joined solo…..
We actually won the first round until running into a guild team.
Are u really sure it match up ppl with PvP ranks or Win/Loss ratio ? :P
And that’s why competitive players should actually care about the casual community. Thieves aren’t OP in high-level play, but they have effectively killed hot join, and that is now hurting free tournaments (all the casual/new players are leaving 8v8 and solo queueing tournies). Same old story: all the good players destroy their own game by trolling noobs.
I like to play with the basic outfit so I don’t have to run with bads like MarkedOne.
everytime I join there are people under rank 10. yes under rank 10 mostly under 5. they have no clue what to do and myself higher ranked player dont wanna waste time (which they do) so I just leave when I see people with basic outfit.
Yes, it is bad, but newbies join tournaments and ruin other people experiences since there is no balance of ranks/ team/pug.
Yeah people with basic outfits are an instalose. I hate those, those are ALWAYS complete noobs. But how do you leave a tournament? I always get ported back in…
Arenanet when it comes to actually balancing the game, adding meaningful runesets, working sigils, and a game without a completely stale meta … insert the “I have no idea what I’m doing” meme.
But when it comes to making money, they even managed to incorporate that into the ONLY way to get any form of “ranking” currently available. This game will never reach esports at this rate.

Hmm, so if we just got rid of all the new players, we’ve have a great, empty game
Seriously though, 8v8 hot join is so frustrating it’s no wonder they go straight to tournaments. As I said before, pugging free tournaments is becoming the new entry-level PvP, because even if you go against a premade of rank 50’s, it can’t be any less fun than 8v8 clockwise zerg with 3 professions.
Maybe instead of forcing those rank 10’s to fight 4v5, you should play with them and lose gracefully. If you don’t queue with a premade your chances aren’t that great anyway. So why give four other players a bad experience?
There’s no matchmaking system and no indication of whether or not we will ever get one. If we do get it, I would expect it in the same patch, or just after we get proper rankings.

I wish i could disagree with you, but they have made their priorities pretty clear. Things that get money from me to them > everything else (including fixes for bugs that have been known for quite a while). “Free-to-play” Guild Wars 2 feels a bit different than “Free-to-Play” Guild Wars 1.

Funny story… I joined with my mate (a fellow complete noob) on Friday (I am rank 8 ele, he is rank 9 ranger), but we both use VOIP, and both played wow arena since s1 so work pretty well together, and he is a bleedin’ good player (a lot better than I).
We PUGged it… and you were our 5th Member. and didn’t join. And we were holding our own 4v5 for the first few minutes.
If you hadn’t left us short we would have comfortably won the 1st round at least.
I hated how elitist wow arenas were, don’t let GW2 be the same.
The reason you have this problem is that there are (and always will be) more low ranking players than high ranks. This makes the “join now” function were you’re matched by rank is kinda useless the higher up you go because most people who are rank 25+ are either in tournies, or spread amongst the many random matches trying to find a game in hot-join. For example when I use join now at rank 31 I get rooms with 3-6 people with in them.
One way to help solve this problem is to have the teams sorted and ranks matched against each other between games. It wouldn’t be perfect because not everyone stays after a game, but it could help a little.
Personally I don’t mind the current situation, sometimes you get rolled, but that happened before anyway, only difference now is that people can look and the score board and point to rank as to why they lost/won. Granted I’ve come across some pretty good low ranking players, but people like to rationalize everything.
