What's the point of blocking salty players?

You don’t need to block salty players because salty players would block you before you have a chance to say anything back to him.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
Thanks for the tip

People and there need for safe spaces..
but really don’t let it bother you op salt is salt, and majority of the times bad players are the salty ones as good ones understand seasons matchmaking, with understanding comes acceptance and with acceptance comes knowledge that you win some you lose some, if your decent you’ll get to leg, if your not and grind, you’ll get there to.
Yeah i wish blocking would prevent them from afking in matches heh. I encountered few players that afk’d in match because we had multiple thieves on team (even though we were actually winning lol).
I still find this hilarious (and it happens A LOT):
- lose match? everyone blames me because i play thief. The favorite ones whisper you and then block ofc so you can’t respond xD
- win match? get spammed with whispers asking to team up lel.
Thankfully got my legend – can afk from this game for the rest of the season.

had a guy once say “you could never 1v1 me” and blocked me immediately after. never understood it. he was right i couldnt he would completely wreck me and when he got the chance he did wreck me. no clue why he was salty.

Salty/toxic players don’t truly bother me. But I don’t see why I should have to play with them if I don’t want to, nor should anybody else. PVP is a chaotic mess atm, all it needs is more toxicity and we will lose the small population we currently have.

I love it when this guy/gal posts, it’s always humorous and sharp. No sarcasm. I’m nowhere near his/her level, but I’ve played enough to learn the ropes of thief. I think what sticks out most, is that the folks I get whispers from asking to team with me are not even close to the same players that shoot me hate tells for playing thief.
Just remember, salty folks are frustrated with their situation and taking it out on you. It’s not a reflection of you or your gaming ability. Still, it sucks to have to put up with them. I’ll try harder to follow my own advice: block and move on. There’s no benefit to feeding them. But to your original point, if something could be done in a way that people wouldn’t quickly exploit, I would love it.

Blocking is a useless function if I have to queue with the same people anyways. I have a spesific individual who would just walk around the map, and throw a game every time he’d end up in a queue with me, so I can only play when he’s not online. (This is at diamond where you will see the same group of plays quite frequently)
The problem with allowing blocks to affect who you get on your team, is that it opens the door to people using block to metagame the matchmaker for their own advantage.
For example when Overwatch was first launched the “avoid player” option kept you from being put in matches with those players. This lead to people hitting “avoid” on every single player that was noticeably better than them.

Idea:
Stop playing with PUGs
Form a team
Take a note out of Blizzard’s playbook and have an “Avoid this player” option next to the “Block” option. It doesn’t have to be an omnipotent, be-all-end-all option in determining match-making, if the avoided player is the best fit or only fit for a spot on your team or the other team then then they should be allowed that spot. Also, the whole “matchfixing” argument against that option is a double-edged sword, because if you avoid all the good players then you also lose the option of getting those good players on your team.

only sensitive players who cant take criticism block other players after they PM them.
