What's up with the Lvl 1 characters?
Some people play this game for only PvP and never touch PvE. I have several pvp alts that I never leveled. However, I’ve been playing since launch.
Many people have multiple characters each with pre-set builds or whatever to make it easier for swapping. PvE level really has no bearing on someone’s PvP knowledge, and I’d assume any low level players are just veteran PvPers swapping out or trying new stuff.
To be honest, I’ve never seen anyone being flamed for having a low PvE level. I can only assume those doing so are in really low MMR brackets.
Solo queue last weekend a lvl 1 got flamed…for being a lvl 1 by pugs. Not sure what the MMR is since it isn’t revealed.
Problem is they can not wear shoulders at that level, so they lose on some defence.
Shoulders should be available from level1.

you don’t need shoulders, gloves and helmets for full defense.
chest, pants and boots are all you need.
U dont lose any defence only runes and sigil matters in pvp the only thing is the level of rewards

And this is why PvP needs a clear tutorial…

I was under the impression that any armor peace that you can not hide provides you the added defense?

Yeah Lvl 1s are usually good pvpers and it’s been known to those that pvp a lot. The pvp community is so small I’m not surprised that veteran pvpers would get teamed with low MMR players in solo queue ranked.

Can confirm from my experience that flaming the level 1 player for being low level is something that happens more frequently in the lower brackets (so far).

Just clueless PvE players flaming a PvP player. Nothing special.

You are right and wrong. You are correct about all pieces you can hide not mattering. But wrong because you forgot you can hide your shoulders.

LOOOOOOL well FML.
I don’t PvE. Recently I created a duplicate Mesmer and Necro cause I wanted Norns. I show up as a Lvl 1 player.
But honestly, sticks and stones and all. Couldn’t care less if people abuse me. But then I’m also 33 years old and a blogger – I have practice dealing with abuse!
This isnt a 100% effective rule, but the lvl1 chars tend to be the best lowies doing PvP. The only way you can get a lvl 1 char is by not accepting the quest reward of the start and directly go into PvP. This usually happens only with full pvp focused chars, so yeh, they tend to be from veteran pvp players
A pve 80 legendary champ guard flamed a lvl 1 thief in my pug team. Next match, the lvl 1 was in my team and we went against the flamer.
It was beautiful, a sight to be seen, to see a thief own a guard over and over and over and over again.

Mostly showed that pugs are probably actually noobs. That makes it even more funny.

I used to blog too but man, that’s so 2004 lol. I think twitter replaced blogging for a lot of people. Good to know you still do it.

This whole thing of “level 1 are pve scrubs” is hilarious… I ran with 3 guildies yesterday all on level 1 characters just to give the other team a false sense of an easy win.. i believe we ended up winning by 350+ points.
I have a couple of characters that are level 1-20, I don’t like them enough to level them up in PvE nor do i want to waste my tomes of knowledge on them. They only exist for PvP and PvP only. For me, that’s more than enough.

Maybe they should show PvP experience level instead of PvE experience level? There’s a misconception, or rather ‘instinctive presumption’, that players using level 1 or 2 characters are newbies to PvP. It’s misleading, but more experienced players know to ignore the character level they see besides the name and class. Some though are wary if a player is really new, so if they see a level 1 player, they check by adding them to their friends list, then look at their AP. Why not show PvP level instead of PvE level? Are you afraid that higher leveled players would have prejudices over lower leveled players? But ain’t that what’s already happening in PvE? “AC p1 p3 80s only”. “AC 123 all welcome”. “AC p2 exp zerk”. Why use a PvE indicator in a PvP environment? Maybe PvE higher levels mean more knowledge of the class right? Well, that’s not correct logic entirely, since there are a lot of things different from PvE and PvP. DUNGEON MASTER != PVP MASTER.

That lvl 1 out-carried me and played solo queue like a tourney. I like teaming up w/ them.

Yes you can. A level 1 can go into W2W and buy a full set of all six armor pieces from the karma vendor there and use them anywhere in game. I’ve been doing it on my new toons for years.
almost all lvl 1 in ranked are good players. Most do it to get ppl all bent out of shape on purpose.
If you’re a level 1 in ranked it means you’re experienced enough to know how to get there at level 1. So definitely not a brand new player

and I’ve noticed lot of those guys dgaf about rewards and loot

I have no problem with pve lowbies but I’m just a bit curious about the Lvl 1 that end up in my team when solo queuing ranked.
They get flamed and insulted by pugs for being a noob lowbie but what fascinates me about them is that they know map rotations, small and large scale combat. Often, they carry the same people that insulted them for being a noob.
I’ve never fought along a Lvl 1 who didn’t know what to do. Is it safe to assume that Lvl 1 characters are veteran pvpers? The lowest lvl character I could pvp with is lvl 2.
I make lvl 1 characters to troll people or play them on my EU account because its only for spvp.

spvp only counts shirt, pants and boots so shoulders don’t matter.

I totally didnt know this. I thought equipments dont affect sPvP at all. Only what you choose in the pvp builder.
