For the longest time they were crap, they never got buffed and yet they’re being used now? Anyone want to let me know why this is happening? I can only find one use for them compared to pack and that’s the fact that every minutes or whatever the CD is you cant be 1 shotted.

One of the life steals was bugged for the longest time, but was fixed recently (~1 month or so ago). Honestly I still can’t see why you’d take them over something like Pack, but to each their own I guess. The 6th bonus seems really counteproductive.

Hate the 6 on vamp runes. God knows how many times it interrupted my heal or my counter burst. They’re pretty okay if you have a heal on short cd (see thief’s withdraw), but personally I wouldn’t take them over other runes, be it pack, strength or whatever.

Because it’s really good in team situations, and on engi the leech proc on heal is kinda op. You can access toolbelt skills in mistform, like accessing deathshroud (necro) or stealthing yourself (elixer S toolbelt)

Also the mistform doesn’t interrupt stomps/resurrects, and you can be healed inside it =D

If you have easy access to Fury and Swiftness, Vamp Runes seems the next logical choice if you are struggling to survive in Zerk gear.

@Reto.6712 yeah had the same problem with them.

They appear to be more evidence that power creep has gone too far, when reflexes are no longer enough to keep you alive. We need to review instant and proc damage – these runes gaining popularity is a really bad sign for the game. Its some very experienced people running vamp runes too so even the faster among us cannot trust their own skills to be enough to survive the damage this game offers.

As soon as you have any condis on you near low health ur done when that procs. I’ve tried that rune before a while back and it screwed me over more times than its helped me, but ya maybe its good on engi. Thats almost on the same lvl of mystery as to when and why was it decided that DP panic strike thieves r ’’better’’ than hidden killer thief. I must have missed something there too.

Started using them on a necro combined with air/blood sigils. Mist form procs switch to ds and get some free hits. It’s not too bad, don’t think it’s better than pack but if you have an ele with you all the time it might be.

Garbage rune sums up the state of the game. Air and Fire sigils need to be removed k thx lets take the dumbness/randomness out of pvp where we can so skill takes over.

Fire & Air is nothing compared to Air & Blood and then Leeching on the other swap

Go try that kitten stuff out in a 1v1 server, life steal is seriously OP atm

  • Sigil Of Blood = 450 damage to opponent and heals you for 450, per 5 seconds
  • Sigil Of Leeching = 974 damage to opponent and heals you for 974 per 9 seconds
    upon that, the life steal surpasses toughness rating and protection buffs
I use the name Barbie on all of my characters.

Go try that kitten stuff out in a 1v1 server, life steal is seriously OP atm

  • Sigil Of Blood = 450 damage to opponent and heals you for 450, per 5 seconds
  • Sigil Of Leeching = 974 damage to opponent and heals you for 974 per 9 seconds
    upon that, the life steal surpasses toughness rating and protection buffs

That breaks down to 90 health/second on Blood and 108.33 health/second on Leeching in perfect situations. Decent, but not OP in the slightest.

You got that wrong. This rune works best in team pvp, where some targets without many active defenses (mainly engineers and necros) can be focused to death in a few seconds by a coordinated burst. In soloq, if you get insta bursted, something was wrong either with your positioning (engaging in a 1v3), or you have slow reflexes or a bad awareness: how many players actually get killed by a shatter mesmer in 0.5s nowadays? The only cases where I saw a player saved by this rune in soloq was power necros I moaed. Focus is so bad in soloq it’s probably not worth it to use that rune.

Puts not really possible to do get the leeching Sigil every 9 seconds… With 10 second swaps.

There’s also proc reality with sigil of blood. But also, with sigil of leeching, a blocked (and evaded?) attack can waste the charge.

They’re fine, blood is better than leeching though because you can’t accidentally waste crit sigils.

Actually I don’t! thank goodness. But is it even common for Engi to run leeching? Thought they ran Doom and intel/battle. Either way. Still, much of the same considerations exist.

You haven’t been watching ESL then, its used on Thieves too (if you think they lack burst defenses you’re wrong). This runeset is a symptom of Fire+Air proccing people to death with instant teleport damage (Steal+Auto, MedGuardPort+Smite). We’re not talking about Soloq we’re talking about Team Tournaments.
