What the...
If you go to a HotM portal in any major city it unlocks it immediately. The leveling up isnt required. It’s placed there so players done immediately attempt to jump into PvP and become overwhelmed by the whole experience. By level 22 they should have a decent grasp of how to play the game and thusly shouldn’t have too much trouble adjusting to the up-scaling.

It’s still not a good thing. Forcing someone to play a certain way before they can play how they want. Not all players learn the same way. And restricting different ways to learning the game. Especially what I think is the best way, which is by joining Spvp where you have all the skills unlocked etc… It’s exactly how I did it, and I have 9 different level 80s, Map completion etc… Restricting IS BAD!
PS. I’ve been pretty patient to my missing gems! WHERE ARE THEY?

hatuey I can’t even call this true restriction. Niether can you if you look at it. This sounds like a “this is different than how I want it to be and anything different from how I want it to be is bad because it is” rant.
As BLUna said. if you go to a HotM portal it unlocks hotm immediately. And I honestly agree that new players SHOULD NOT be entering rated pvp before they have some experience. Note that this isn’t for experienced players but new players. Experienced pvpers will likely have lvling tomes out the kitten to get there people over that threshold.
I have no problem with new players entering Hotjoin or anything like that. But with the upcoming changes and the change to Rated Arenas instead of solo que team que I fully endorse making sure players have a MINIMUM level of experience in the game before being able to enter. Or else when they enter the new rated arenas itl be a death sentence for there team mates.
I guess what im saying is. I understand why this was made the way it was. In preparation for the new form of rated matches. This has MINIMAL impact on any experienced pvper.
There not forcing you to do anything if youve already been playing the game for awhile. They give you the tools to get around that in game and available to anyone.
Its only for new players so they don’t kitten over 4-9 other people game just because they can’t understand how much they havn’t learned yet.
You’re confusing entering rated pvp to entering “heart of the mists” and if players can already join HoTM already why do we even need the “level requirement” It doesn’t make sense. It’s like saying you can’t get into this bar unless you know the back door?… I agree with you on making players WAIT to join a rated game. That would just be horrendous, but again having a level restriction just to enter HoTM when there is already a back door just doesn’t make sense.
So what’s the purpose of not having ALL the skills unlocked automatically in Spvp?
hatuey anyone can walk up to the portal and enter. its a known thing. an experienced player knows this. A new player does not. This acts as a method for an experienced player to enter hotm even on an underleveled character. But a new player won’t enter Hotm on an underleveled character likely because they probably won’t encounter that specific gate until there there at or near the level in question
(I know whenever I join a new game I usually burn through the first 20 levels in the first day or so in a nonstop playing spree.)
Suffice to say. Its not really a big deal. For new players theres something they dont have to worry about yet and there encouraged NOT to worry about it till there experienced enough to handle it. For old players they just turn around and run into there city.
This is a silly complaint. There is not a level requirement AT ALL. The button is hidden, but the functionality is 100% there if you want to access it
Solutions:
Option #1: Go to HotM through the portal in LA directly after 1st mission.
Option #2: Hit the “open pvp panel” button. I am not sure what the default is (“p” maybe?).
The ONLY thing different is the icon is hidden from the top for new players so that they aren’t overwhelmed and can be introduced to the game in stages. If a player is looking for a way to access pvp, they can get there just as fast as always. New players without someone showing them the ropes already have a LOT to learn. With the current system, not only do they have things demonstrated to them gradually, but the pop up at level 22 will bring it directly to the attention of players who would otherwise not even know pvp exited until much later. Think about when you played, was there ever a popup that said “Oh hey friend, there is PvP in this game, and this how you get there. Do this and we’ll show you a short tutorial, then you can hop in and play!” That is really that changed.
