What the leagues are for?
To grind for the backpiece.
They could be fun, but its badly implemented like some reward track so… Yeah its pvp backpiece reward track basically.

PvP is a competitive game mode, the league system is a competitive system. Not everyone is going to achieve the highest league level (legendary divison) but the point is to encourage you to play PvP by providing a competitive construct that you can participate in. Think of it as a long tournament. Not everyone finishes first place but the point is to test your mettle which is what PvP has always been about. It may not be a perfect system but it works. Sure there are things to earn and having the legendary backpiece, the division icon, achievements, and titles are all great but if we are looking at the league system in a bare bones way then its purpose is to encourage a competitive environment for PvP players to test their own skills against other players and then have that skill displayed to everyone in Guild Wars 2 via a division icon. The extra things that come along with the PvP season just encourage participation.
WvW Commander – NA PST
Sexiest Level 80 Charr Guardian In The Game
For the achievement points obviously
To grind for the backpiece.
This.
Miranda Zero – Ele / Twitch Zero – Mes / Chargrin Soulboom – Engi
Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro
To grind for the backpiece.
TRUTH! All else is irrelevant.
This is actually the main issue. It seems like they tried to make a “competitive” ranking system while simultaneously using it to try and get people into pvp (with rewards like the back piece)
As a result they left both player bases unsatisfied. The league system is not competitive enough for pro players (for example it lacks division dropping) but it’s also too difficult for casual pve players to grind out.
So now we just have this blob of pvp “meh”

To brag on forums you have 120 wins out of 80 games and tell the others noobs complaining about MM to git gud.
I’m not sure. The system killed all my interest in PvP as the only way I’ll get to face good opponents or equally skilled opponents(I’d rather fight people much better than me so I can learn) I have to grind hundreds of games and pray to RNG for good teammates.
That isn’t very fun and I don’t really improve fighting and playing with people worse than me constantly. So I stopped PvPing.
It was supposed to be a system to make it easier to play with equal level teammates and opponents, but it completely failed because of division based queues.
For the shiny glowie wings honey!! Its all about fashion. At least that is what it is for me, otherwise I wouldnt go there , not in a million years to get annoyed in a game i love.
To stack equally good ppl in different groups.
Then they had to give the best group something for making it, so they got skin.
Every1 now wants that skin, even ppl that don’t belong in that group.
thats why ppl are toxic, because they don’t get a skin.
Edit: its not working, because premades n stuff.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. League needs to mean your MMR bracket, and should have weekly rank decay and weekly rewards. Then the Legendary tag will have prestige, the PvP elitists will get their backpacks first, and pure grind won’t get you anywhere.
