What to Do When Vs a Full Premade
oh wow, you beat a bad premade, congrats. you know what? that happens from time to time. now play against one that resembles the average skill of your pug. you will have no chance. rather than gambling that the premade is composed of hotjoin trash it’s more time efficient for the whole team to afk and get a proper match. for one bad premade you’ll get 5 or 6 or more that are approximately at your level or even better and then all your motivational speeches will be in vain.
i myself am average at best and i only play like once a week because of time issues (meaning i srsly lack training) and when i play premade with my mates (which are probably just a tad better than me since they mostly play pve) the opponents have to exceed us skill wise by a decent margin because we’ll steamroll even pugs that are technically better than us.
don’t fool yourself, having luck in being matches with a bad team doesn’t mean you’ll win against premades on average. just save your time and watch some youtube until the match is over.
(edited by zaced.7948)
That is the point of matchmaking though, to try to get evenly matched games. In this case it is good pugs vs. a bad premade, there can be a balance from that. Judging from the end result it seems like it worked since 410-501 is pretty close.

I give OP far more respect for trying to help out and bring in positive encouragement.
You, you’re nothing but negative energy. Go away.
How I wish matchmaking could always choose good pugs to go against not so good premades. That’s only fair, right
What Vapour said is true though. Talkative teams do well.
Why? Because communication closes the gap between solo q and premades. Sometimes, the only advantage premades have over solo pugs is communication – but that’s IF matchmaking is doing its job and grouping people of the same skill levels.
I’ve ended up fighting along or against Vapour and he is very knowledgeable with the classes he plays and understands map rotations better than most.

Thanks guys for some of the kind words. Always a pleasure having you in my team Pimsley although I cringe when we go against each other and they place you with really bad teammates.
Yeti, lmao, sorry you had a toxic deebag in your team. You’re right, what IT said was rude and unproductive.
A load of kitten.
Take that stuff some place else the OP is trying to offer solutions because people can QQ all they want about pre-mades but they will always be here and solo-queue is not coming anytime soon (nor should it). I was about to make a similar thread myself offering suggestions on how people can turn Courtyard around because I often see my team make exploitable mistakes that the opponent is to weary to take advantage of (or are unaware that an opening for them has been created in the first place).
Especially against PUGs pre-mades often get complacent just because they don’t expect PUGs to be smart enough to exploit basic, easy-to-make mistakes.
I pug and partial pre-mades and partials all the time, similarly my pre-mades and partials often lose to pugs (half the time my pre-mades are PUGs as we try to get new guild members comfortable to run their own groups). We aren’t allowed to name names but I’ve pugged and won against certain guilds that typically beat my optimized pre-mades – names that I know and respect. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve groaned when solo when I see it is five people from ‘x’ guild and to my surprise we are able to turn things around and win.
Know the map, know the mechanics, and if no one else is give commands. The best thing you can do is talk. Announce when you are using a group ability. Say who killed you, where, and where they are headed. If ‘X’ Engineer is able to consistently lay down 13 stacks of Burn, let you’re team know to stay the flip away. Explain your play-style before the match and let people know if your plan changes.
It isn’t about speeches or morale, it is about doing your best to provide your team the information necessary to succeed because you can be kitten sure your opponents are letting their allies know you already blew your cool-downs right before a new player engages you.
We are not friends.
“let’s ruin their day” lmao.
Also that map chat is hilarious.
I love getting talkative teams because what these guys above say is true – talkative teams usually win if pug vs pug of the same skill level. and even pug vs pre in this case.
Best time to get chatty people that speak English fluently is NA prime.
What I’d love for this thread to achieve is have people communicate more often. You know like make it standard protocol to talk to your teammates.
I Hate Dumb Teams – nec
One easy thing you can do is to call a target.
Maybe your team dont whant to talk, but there is a chance that they are able to press “T”.
I don’t think that premade you went against is that bad. I read one of your teammates said that they have too much condi cleanse. Good thing your brought a direct dps build.
That’s why I keep saying that burning and condition damage is ineffective against premades because they usually have classes with aoe cleansing. Inexperienced premades usually don’t have assigned classes for cleansing.
It looked like they also cared about their comp.

Best to play ranked. You still may get a premade but at least there you get the balanced maps.

Haha. Well the tricky part with solo is that sometimes you get good teammates and other times you get terribads that either die in 2 sec or play ranked like hotjoin and careless about capping.
A recent match our team was split 2 ways, me defending home in a 1v2 and teammates at far doing 4v2 and one of the enemies sitting at their capped mid being bored to death. I kept swearing non stop inside my head.

I know what you mean. I’m hoping people realize that if they hate going against premades, they need to talk to their teammates more to improve chances of winning. If it became normal for people that solo Q to communicate, premades would not have as big of an advantage anymore.

i guess you haven’t read what i posted. i don’t lose to pugs. has been quite some time since that happened. i also don’t play with pugs so i don’t know that side of the discussion. all i know is that in 99% of all cases my team will win against a pug even if they are technically better than us.
communication makes all the difference. i can call cc chains, ganks and rotations in a second. i can tell my teammates which opponent is going where and doing what in a second. a pug would have to stop playing and start typing for that. that’s a disadvantage only the very best can overcome.
(edited by zaced.7948)

You, you’re nothing but negative energy. Go away.
No way man, PvP would feel like something’s missing without salt. It’s okay not to win, if you don’t then the other team did their job right…or more right than your own team. Sometimes it’s even out of your control like a teammate lagging or disconnecting or rudely going AFK. If it’s because he’s AFK then that’s justified salt and if you all lose without griefing on your teammates’ end at least you tried and actually faced other players and not some AI HP sink. Yeah buddy, you’re so cool with that dungeon master title with your ascended ‘zerker team steamrolling content designed assuming you’re in rares or exotics. So be grateful that you’re cooler than those “dungeonmasters”.
Queue solo some everyday in ranked. Good way to wind down the evening. If you get what you believe to be a full pre-made use it as challenge. If you think you are going to lose you have nothing to worry about anyway since you already lost in your own mind. Just play. On the flip side, there is a big difference in a pre-made and group of people queing together. Sure they might have better comms, they could also all be completed wasted and out for a laugh, or it could be a bring whatever you want group. Not the same as players bringing builds and classes that compliment each other.

Makes sense. Now I know why you were being defensive. You’re afraid that pugs will learn what premades know. But no need to be defensive, that just confirms that you lose a lot to pugs. lmao.
communication makes all the difference.
Wow. Did you even think before responding to this thread? Communication is key – That’s exactly what OP said, the same stuff that YOU said was incorrect.
You have no credibility. OP has presented a screen shot of how well he played a high skill cap build in a pug team and the communication log with his teammates.
While you just whined and sulked and beat your chest yet produced nothing substantial to back your false claims.
:) I find silent teams tends to do better . I don’t get how one can type out full sentences while pvping. When I’m in the zone I don’t even read the chat . A good player knows how to read the mini map and go where he is needed no need to chat really.
Ah the question What to do when your pug faces a premade. It’s sort of like the same question “what should the crew do when the ship is sinking and there is no realistic hope for keeping her a float” the answer is to abandon ship. You don’t have to rage quit (although I will admit I have on occasion in unranked matches). If you see the opposing team is a guild team you know they are premade, even if they aren’t on coms they have a clear advantage. If they are on coms you have zero chance. You can announce in map chat “we both know that premade vs pug is a waste of everyone’s time. It’s not sharping your premade and it’s not much fun to be on the receiving end of a battle that can’t be won without a major upset. It’s out of respect for the game and each of you that I’m bowing out”. That’s how everyone should handle it. Or you can stay in game and spend spend 8-10 minutes of your life on nothing of value.
Solo and Premade queues are coming with guild teams, leagues patch. At least for HoT buyers. Until this patch is in treat premade solo joint queuing as any other bug in the game.

it seems you miss the whole point. or perhaps you just lack basic reading skills. i’d rather have balanced matches against other premades. i have no fun in stomping premades and it’s obviously unfair to them.
if you think what i said is somehow proof i’m losing to pugs than that’s fine. i’m not here to tell you what to believe. you’re free to think the earth is flat or that the universe was made my a magical unicorn for what i care. i don’t need to prove anything since your opinion on me is not really relevant to me. if a pug can be as good as a premade THAT IS WONDERFUL. i’d like to play more against such pugs. however, such a pug is a very rare thing and means they have to be a lot better than my team is.
all i’m saying is that if my premade plays against a pug that pug should just resign and get a match against another pug faster. on the other hand i’ll also get to play a proper match against another premade faster. my premade will win anyway so there’s no point for them to bother.
their communication and teamplay can never exceed mine since i need one second for what they need several. and they can’t even do it in combat. people have time to type in chat when they’re dead. that means i already won a battle. teamspeak >>>> chat, it’s as simple as that.
a pug might win against a srsly bad premade. not against me. not fun for them, not fun for me.
my substantial contribution is that pugs facing premades should just give up as their chances of winning are small. if you lose 0-500 or 250-500 does not change the amount of mmr you lose. impicatively i’d like to have soloq and teamq seperated. Thankfully that change will be implemented soon.
PS: that “high skill cap build” is an easy as kitten standard meta soldiers engineer. i happen to play that myself every now and then although i prefer more sophisticated builds.
Ps²: you might want to google what “defensive” actually means.

If you have low MMR: Pray they’re a pve guild/group that want to complete pvp dailes or for whatever reason choose to play pvp at that time.
If you have high MMR: Do your best and try to enjoy the match while expecting a loss. Lose – and you’ve already expected it. Win – feel awesome about yourself and sorry for the opponent team.

All I know is that you like being the big man. You force your will about how great you are to people and at the same time mock others.
Oh I was browsing the engie forum to get feedback from other engies about the scrapper.
This thread doesn’t make you look like the pro you say you are.
In fact, it makes you look like a neophyte who is so clueless, I began to feel sorry for you. So I suggest you put away the fake Big man image and humble up coz I knew from the start that you’re not who you say you are.
What do you do vs a premade as a solo? Statistically, you lose. Almost always unless they’re drinking bleach.
It’s discouraging when the vast majority of your losses are because some 4-man or 5-man rolled you into the ground and it obviously needs to change.
Not only do you fight premades, but you get teamed with window lickers that die to Svanir (today) at the start..
If going a against a premade, it’s that small sliver of chance of winning that motivate others. It just feels self defeating to queue and waste your life (time is life) if you give up and expect to lose from the get go.
What do you do when you go against a premade? You beat them.

However if you read some of the comments here, it’s as if they want you to surrender to your premade opponents and expect losing. And then be glad if you do win.
But if you will have an uphill struggle to win if your mind is set on losing.

yeah, you’re right. i’m not big into pve min maxing and looking over equip (that doesn’t exist in pvp) others have posted, you got me. also i didn’t calculate how much critchance bufffood and warrior banners are gonna give me, that’s very relevant for my pvp builds i guess. i’m actually honored that you took all that time to try and discredit me but it’s not making a dent.
if you play pvp you know it goes down as i said in 99% of all cases. i know you’re trying to motivate people by being some generic goody two shoes but there is no argument to be had. on average premade will beat a pug no matter how inspiring your motivational speeches in teamchat are and nothing will change that. it’s a factual advantage that pugs can only overcome if their either insanely good or the premade is insanely bad. on average forfeiting the match is faster and more efficient when it comes to mmr and ladder.
you can try and front me all you want, it won’t change.
since there will be a distinction between team- and soloque with the introduction of leagues this topic has extended it’s relevance anyway. i hope we randomly meet in ranked at some point with you being in a pug so i can prove you how futile everything you try to accomplish is in the end.
i wish you something, mate. this discussion has run it’s course since all that’s happening from now is repetition and personal quarrels. if anybody wishes to discuss this with me personally i might grant you some words on voice chat but i’d rather not type the same block of text to anybody that disagrees with logic.
(edited by zaced.7948)
when playing in premade i am loosing sometimes and playing against premade i am winning sometimes
sure premade should have better communication but sometimes just reading the map and being at the right spot doing what your class/role should do with silent is far better than communicate.
To each his own
We are a mix of intro and extroverted peoples.
Some of us like to be reminded that we play with other like minded people thru communication.
Others like being left alone in peace and quiet.
One thing is certain though, in the higher tier game play, communication (voice coms) is crucial. Looking at map is not suffice.
People are different.
For me personally, I like being in a team that is more talkative than quiet. But not too talkative where they talk nonsense. That could be a bad sign as well.
But in general, teams that communicate do better than those that do not.

Best thing to do if you recognize you’re solos vs. premade is quick organization:
- Figure out what build everyone is running, quickly.
- Declare a general tactic for initial split, keep it simple “Everyone stay home/mid, only let your best peeler in the team worry about far point neutralization” ~ Hope to god they listen and cooperate.
- Remind them to use /t chat to call out enemy numbers whenever they get a chance, wherever they see them going and when the enemies go on respawn. This is crucial and probably the most important thing to do that will allow you to keep up with the premade.
- Call targets.
The above four are pretty simple and easy to do, even with /t chat. The problem occurs when you have players who simply do not want to cooperate with anything that is said.
Immediately go to the forums and make an angry post about it?
Like OP I was on my engie and went against a full teamQ. Two teammates queued and the rest are solo, myself included. It wasn’t a very talkative team but saying something doesn’t harm and it’s better than being silent.
A lot of premades are not even in TS or anything. If that’s the case, the main advantage they have over you is getting to choose your comp. So, to counter that, if you see soloq has dealt you a terrible comp, try to switch to something that will make your comp better if you can. Just one thing you can do to make your odds better.

The premade team with 2 thieves should have swapped one of them out to something else especially after seeing the pugs having 2 guards.
It was a close match and 2 thieves can still work but coordination needs to be extra tight.

Having a good team attitude (in general) does way more than most people realize. A lot of people are quick to give up and even the tiniest belief that your teammates have got your back can make a big difference.
It’s not going to get you a win every time, but it helps. Similarly, toxic/negative attitudes drag teams down.
One thing to note about positivity tho… especially in regards to praise… it’s good to use it sparingly and apply it truthfully. Teams that are winning too fast too quick can get kitteny because they think they have it in the bag.

That dude is cra-cra for real. I won’t be surprised if he actually says those things for his amusement
There’s no down side with a little pep talk with fellow soloQers before match begins.
The biggest mistake this full team made was over-invest in assaulting far (our home) where the guard and I were defending 2v3 and at times, 2v4 while the rest of our team capped.
Knowing when to disengage is important yet easily overlooked by many. I’ve also been in bad teams where teammates over-invested in capturing far, leaving the other 2 points undermanned.
