What will you play in Stronghold?
Will be trying out hammer/GS war and maybe lb power ranger as well.

I like Hammer/GS! What role will you be playing? You’re not really bursty, and have no group utilities on that. The mobility is great though.
I usually play Shoutbow so I’ll stick with NPCs for a while then try GS/LB for objective stuff.
Former Warrior in Guild Wars 2
Former Sith Warrior in SWTOR
I’ll probably try a 3 kit engineer or static discharge, no kit engineer. Both are lots of fun, and should be great at either taking out the enemy npcs or enemy players.

Interrupting supply and hero channeling requires CC or downing an enemy and hammer brings plenty of that. I’ll be running primarily in team fights and to kill enemy NPCs.
Basically it’s Hambow, but dropping the bow (since there’s no nodes to paint in fire anyways) for the added mobility and dps of GS. Plus NPCs won’t dodge hundred blades.
Test order:
Starting: Engi/Range/Ele
Depending on time: Thief/Nec/Mez/War
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Play me guys I am op!
Revenant. 15+/chars
I won’t be able to play until this evening but I’m hoping that Greathammer and Greatbow is viable on War in this mode. I have a feeling Shoutbow is going to end up being the meta anyways. Support is just too important in this game.
Old Man Burr (War), Bad Hat Ben (Engi), Manly Manny Manson (Guard)

Two matches played – then EU downtime :<
One match on an exotic build with my Warrior – seemed to work, but sadly I did not get more time to test :<

Anything but a necromancer as they as usual bring nothing usefull to PvP especially less to this game mode.

Power Necromancers can in theory be quite effective on the offensive – because once you are at the lord room with the right set of members, you can easily AoE pressure the enemy attackers and the Lord+goonies with wells (Also removing boons, which can be a blessing) – following with Lich…
Remember that the AI as it is now is incredibly bad, so you can indeed cornerstack the Lord and 100-0 him within a couple of seconds with minor coordination
I think there is a potential for some really nice spikes on the map… Sadly, only 2 rounds played yesterday =/

If your team has a Necro, you probably won’t even make it to the Lord kill.
It’s a really bad map for necros because they have limited mobility and escapability. They can’t run supplies well…they can’t defend…they don’t have utility to escort…they will often be 5-10 seconds behind others getting to where they need to be.
The map is huge and their is lots of z-axis/LOS. Thus, you either need a specific role where you are far and away the best option…or you need a lot of mobility/escapability.
Being late to a fight will cost your team too much dps and/or clutch play to make you useful.
Necros can pop Lich every 180 seconds to do something meaningful, but what else do you think they do better than other professions? Don’t even think about a condi-necro or minion master. With so much LOS and high cast times, their limited range and poor pet ai would be hilarious/painful to watch.
The good news is that classes like Ranger, Thief and Mesmer have strong options in this type of game versus conquest where you see them much less.
Of course the more “favored” classes in GW2 also have tons of different build options to be strong on this map too.
Eles are great support runners…warriors can do just about anything depending on spec…engies can manipulate the supply area for you without sacrificing a person by dropping turrets.
Overall, a fun map, but certain tweaks needed.
Yea, it’s not great for Necro…but Necro just seems to lack a lot of utility all-around. I wouldn’t say that they’re useless or an entire burden to a group though. Power build burst is still strong and flesh worm can be great for getting stuff like supply running. However, I think they’ll need a really coordinated group where they can stick with a buddy to perform best.
