What would be cool instead of a new expac
Hmm it is a bit too late to call off an entire expac now that they have been saying that an expansion is in the state of “work in progress” for the last 6 months at least.
100% agree we need more utility skills. maybe the xpac will bring some of those, who knows.
I would rather a new expac. More elite specs is more important than filling out the skill schools. I would also rather they make more standing heal/elite skills viable than add more.
~3 new skills and a new weapon for each class will never replace an expac which, at a minimum for the PvP side of things, will bring a new weapon, a new traitline, and 5 new skills to each class with the elite spec. These two things aren’t even remotely comparable and I would take the expac any day over just a few new skills and a new weapon.
I’m not opposed to those missing skills being implemented, I just don’t want them instead of an expac like you asked for.
I seem to remember them stating the reason for locking the elite spec in to the bottom trait line was for the sake of adding more elite specs each expansion so I dont think they will add any more core skills.
I’d find Rev interesting if it had atleast 1-2 extra utilities per Legend.
….. And Elementalist.
I agree. There is much more potential to make a good game in tuning what we have then releasing more specs. But new content like a third WvW map and PvE zone, new dungeons and story can be added. The problem might be that new class and elites are usually core drivers to buy expansions … On the other side optimizing current traits and skill has more long term value … So waht strategy is behind. Grab fast money or make an endurable game that might even shine in esports.
What would be better than a new expasion is if they removed also HoT expasion and balance about core game.
Have a nice day

Making an expansion isn’t exactly fast..
But I would be in favor of a fast cash grab, if it was like a utility skill pack, with a price tag of about 10 – 20 €. Missing skills for professions, additional weapons for some of them(let’s face it, warrior or guardian isn’t exactly missing any, unlike fe. engineers or revenants), and bringing variety to revenant skill bars with more utility skills.
Sonya for females. (necro,rev,ranger,mes,engi)
All classes lvl 80.
I would pay for such a “Diversity” Pack, while paying for power creep can drive me off a game.

I’d much rather see Revenant get traits removed and then some added that actually make work with his selfheal, elite slot and class mechanic.
The skills themsevles, some may need their energy cost looked at, are okay.
What irks me are the traits more than anything since you have no real way of combining two legends in a coherent playstyle.
Blah. The expac sells on having more powerful classes. This means that the next set of elites naturally wants to be more powerful than HoT. They’ll probably introduce
[Tactical Nuke] as a War skill as a tongue-in-cheek example.
I’m really not looking forward to whatever the “next level” power specs are.

If Anet released a paid update that only included 3-4 new utility/elite skills per profession you can bet your kitten that those would be power creeped to hell. Otherwise not nearly enough people would pay for something that we should get free to justify ANet putting time into making it.
