Curious, whats Engineer’s counter class?

They been the hardest class for me to fight currently. They seem CC immune often, and hard to burst down. They have tons of CCs themselves …

A very well played ranger (either longbow or condi) can go against them. Its really up to the rangers to avoid key skills. (ice grenades. Net shot. magnet pull etc.). Ive noticed an axe offhand goes a long way towards negating most of what an engi has. Probably because seeing an engi hit himself with overcharged shot is one of the best feelings on the planet.

Until the update. Engies will then be a counter to thieves (at least stealth-based thieves).

As others have said, anyone who can condi spam is a problem.

condi rangers are probably their best counters. I don’t think ive ever lost a 1v1 to a non-esport engie.

condi ranger is my least favourite thing to fight on my engineers. anything condi with a bit off cc should do the trick. condi bomb after healing turret and gg.

In 1v1, I’ve seen a Thief demolish good Engineers in KotH.
Mesmers, Thieves and Rangers always make good 1v1 classes. However, in competitive tpvp, they’re always 1 step behind.

Pretty sure he plays Necromancer and whines about almost any other class on the face of the Earth.

Necro and Condi rangers counter engi. Shoutbow and dd ele stalemate.

Currently…condi spam is very strong against all engies. X/F eles are also very potent due to all the projectile hate.

After the patch….just bend over or take up the gear yourself.

I’ve felt condi-based necros have always been as especially difficult matchup. The lack of stability and select stun breakers make you an easy subject for chain fears, and there’s just not enough constant condition cleanse to go around to handle it properly.

Not only that, but a lot of engineers will also spec for condition damage, either fully or partly, and necromancers are often very good at dealing with those through consume conditions or condition transferring abilities, not to mention their high base health pool.

Condition rangers I feel are a bit easier, unless you get trapped in an entangle you can’t get out of. That can sometimes be death.

Can’t really say how it will be after the patch as there’ll be a bunch of changes around, but I imagine condi necros will still have a leg up over your average engineer build.

A good counter is a Pistol/Shield condition-based Engi. Terror-Necro is pretty decent as well.

Bad thing is, those builds are condition-based and the Engi can just go into teamfights, where he is really strong and conditions don’t matter, cuz of tons of AoE-Condi removal.

Condi ranger and terrormancer are eating engis soul.

You know I prob rather deal with a necro than condi ranger they are so very annoying,

Ranged necro counters them decently, especially condi necro.

So does ranger, especially condi ranger.

For me its Mesmer. Kill decent Mes is very hard.
