Your MMR rose so high when you played with turret engi. Because of that MM still expects you to carry stuff like whole team of solo r1 players, even if you’re not playing turret anymore… you need to give it time to adjust back to lower MMR by losing a lot.
I feel like everything is so random and especially when you solo queue there is very little you can do to effect the outcome. Things like class make up of the teams and whether you face partial groups or not totally dwarfs your individual contributions. I don’t know what the answer is but I think many would agree with how it is right now is not working all that well.

MMR normally should be class based, afaik?
The way I understood it is there’s one MMR for you as a player and another one for the profession… I don’t know how it calculates the total for matchmaking (average, weighted average etc)… or if it even works like this. I also remember reading something like profession MMR was turned off, have no idea if that’s still the case. But yea you could be right and it could be just class based too….

But it’s that I get matched up with people who do stuff that I have seen happening when I first started to play PvP. Players, who seem to think the minimap is just a fancy decoration item. Players who magically can turn 300:200 into 550:310. Players, that sometimes just leave the match and turn the whole thing into a 4vs5. In the meanwhile, the opposing teams are often incredibly coordinated. They even had players from guilds like oRNG or 55 hp monks in their team (two times so far; once a warrior from oRNG and once a turret engi from ELE).
I mean, what can I do. I even team up with a friend who plays turret engi and thief, and even if he binds 2-3 opposing players at far and I fight 1-2 at mid, nobody would get the idea to help me at mid or at least take our close back. Instead, they fight I-dunno-who somewhere off point (usually some bunker guard or thief). Oooooor talking about bunker guards; I once had a team where our bunker guard tried capping far for like 5 minutes, despite not dealing any damage. That was a while ago, though. But ya. Matchups are terrible these days, and I feel like I get punished for playing PvP. Because instead of gaining ranks, I keep losing them because I lose match after match due to being teamed up with people who have no clue vs well-organized teams.

Have you guys looked to see how many of these matches are people doing their dailies(ie playing the daily builds)? I know engis got a daily like two days in a row and that was rough because everyone and their mother ran turret in both ranked and unranked.
This definitely contributed to the bad matches. It clogs up the matchmaking system it has no choice but to put 2-3 engis on a team due to the sheer number of them increasing.

Fought the same premade like 5 times in a row last night. Matches weren’t bad but it just shows how dead the game is if they can’t find another premade to match the premade that I fought 5 times in a row.

Hotjoin is where the changes need to start though. Thats where new players join first and where it drives them away. The fact that nearly 75% of all matches I join are 400 to 50 and the game is over pretty much. Things like 8v8 will help newer players get better by the match not being so reliant on individual actions but more team oriented.
Also, group queue and solo queue really needs to be separated again. I don’t care if the group queuers have a 20 mins queue time, suck it up.

True, alot of us not only queue together alot, but also alone, to train some personal rotations and whatnot.
I would rather vote to bring SoloQ back. SoloQ’ers should NEVER face any premades nor parties of 2-3-4. Even with SAME’ish MMR, VOIP gives a too big advantage.
I know, I know, premades sometimes lose to SoloQ’ers, as do I but it creates a total other effect: the premade gets laughed at and called noobs and whatnot, even when it was clear the matchmaking was a joke..

Since the latest changes I have about a 20% win rate and I’d estimate I’ve lost by an average of 250 points per game. My win percentage has plummeted with no bottom in sight. I don’t even really care so much about it but…. the competition and matchmaking has been atrocious.
A couple things I am 100% sure about. MMR calculations are terrible. The matchmaking system is terrible. I don’t even need to evaluate the formulas. The proof is in the pudding.
In these games I’ve been losing by 200-300 points I have been winning almost all 1v1s and even a fair amount of 1v2s. When I am not playing around with specs I typically have a win rate of 60%+ in ranked.
Yes i know this is a test, and they didn’t reset things, and that all solo queue’ers that I know of with decent win percentage and games played prior to it have been hammered, but still… the system was bad before but now it is a joke of being bad.
You’re playing thief OP. You are relying on others holding caps. You’re just more vulnerable to lose streaks. In the screenshot you posted, you were up against a bulkier comp. And rangers are sketchy teammates. Those types of comps you were up against pop up often enough.
Watching my pugs get 1v3’d by a turret engi after waiting 8 minutes for the game to start is a good and fun time. Why would you not be ecstatic with this great matchmaking?

I’m just tiered of getting farmed by turret engis. Even when I’m in a premade and we run a fun comp instead of try hard comp, still gonna lose to kittening turrets.
You could say its an l2p issue but really it isint , not everybody wants to try super hard and counter comp the turrets with something even more stupid.
Why do I have to switch builds and try super hard against an afk brain dead turret engi that could literally kill anything that isint built to fight them just with autoattacks?
Also yolo Q vs premades is becoming a kittening joke. You might as well delete the matchmaking for shorter Q times. Because waiting 8 mins to fight a full premade with 4 turrets and 1 shoutbow is a big kittening joke.

They need to do a few things if they are going to have to insist on leaving the queues merged. First is to put in a hard cap for number of classes of a certain type your side can have. It should probably also attempt to make solo and partial groups work out archetype wise as well. No more 2 mesmer, 2 thief, 1 ele comps. Zero bunkers and point fighters how are you going to win a match against evenly skilled opponents with a more balanced comp? They also need to totally re-do how much being in a group affects your rating for match making purposes. It is not nearly enough. You can see it on the wiki. Not enough.

I’ve been treading water in the LBs at r25-30 completely solo queue, but I don’t care about a llama and I definitely don’t care about GH armor.
It’s gotten really bad, and I can’t see any reason to stay around or really do much of anything anymore in this game.
