Though its always more pronounced right after a patch, the following is a consistent problem that comes and goes, and I’m starting to get sick of it.
Randomly, skills dont fire – its especially noticeable with instant cast skills (withdraw, Infiltrator’s Strike, Shadow step, Shadow return, and even though its not a ‘skill’, weapon switch).
Roughly 70% of the time skills function normally – 30%, they simply don’t fire (I dont have any empirical data for these numbers, just a ‘feeling’). I watch the skill button light up, I’m not stunned, feared, or in any other way denied use of my skillbar…they just don’t fire. This has led to me “Spamming” skills when I really need to make sure they go off…and with skills like Infiltrators strike, shadow step, shadow return, and (to a lesser extent) the new Flanking strike/Larcenous strike, its a huge hindrance.
When withdraw doesn’t fire the first time I hit it, I might as well not bother; I run with a snare/root breaking, evade rolling instant cast heal for a reason – if it doesn’t immediately get me the kitten out of dodge, there’s a good chance I’m getting mauled.
I bring this up now because it seems like Anet might finally start delivering on some of their promises; maybe in a few months this game will be excellent again (IMO). But before that can happen, they need to address skills not firing when pressed 95% of the time (there’s always a margin of error, I’m not some crazy perfectionist)
I’ve checked my ping mid game – while it bounces around, its never over 100, and usually flickers between 50 and 80. I have to assume I’m not the only one dealing with this – anyone else want to weigh in?
lag spikes… we all get them.. after patches it always gets worse.. there are so many times I dye to this alone.. full hp skill starts flashing and im on the floor pleading for my life..
what I find more annoying is skill queuing.. so many times I lose my downed 2 ability because I pressed 2 seconds before my death..

I also had this problem sometimes with engineer rifle 4(overcharged shot) which should knockback me and launch the enemy but I had been still at the same place/ position.
Must be lag since a few seconds later I somehow got knocked back from “nothing”. And no animation.
Ive noticed that if you activate a skill at the same time u dodge roll just b4 its used, or get knocked down or something, it will put that skill on a brief timer.
I have this problem on my Necro a lot. I don’t have the same problems on my Warrior or Engi. On my Necro my heal ( Consume Conditions) sometimes won’t go off. I think the cast time is slightly longer then what the tool tip states (Aftercast). Necro Dagger #3 will go on CD easily if not facing the correct direction. Necro offhand Dagger #4 is extremely touchy if you’re not facing right at your opponent. It will just go on cooldown. Focus #4 and Focus #5 i’ve had misfire a couple times too. I think Staff marks are not landing correctly either, but I will have to investigate further. I personally believe its a latency issue. But I don’t know how to fix it. I’ll re-iterate, I know there will always be some “lag”, but it currently happens way too often. It certainly seems like the servers are at fault (considering I’ve monitored my Ping to verify that it isn’t the cause), there must be something Anet can do to lessen the severity of the issue.

I agree, Its really bad and using D/F on Necro all 5 of my skills have the potential to miss. In a fast paced point battle, the game doesn’t seem to keep up with camera rotation. It’s crippling and makes me not want to Necro at all.
This seems to happen from time to time with all skills that have longer than instant cast times, from what I’ve seen so far.
