When to hambow and when to shoutbow?
For me it would just be as simple as “do we need more CC and damage, or more boons and condi clear” ?
Warriors maybe show up to answer this, but that would require them to remove face from keyboard and use their hands to type. Seems complicated.

Hello,
correct me if I’m wrong – but I dont think there is a general answer to this question. It rather comes down to your team comp, your role in the comp, enemy team comp, map, etc.
So could you pls instruct me about the specifics? I play and like both specs but I’m having a hard time deciding which one to use in the given situation.

If they have thief and mesmer you definately need to go hambow, if they have heavy condi pressure and your team doesn’t have much cleanses (Aka not double ele) you should probably go shout, if you’re gonna 2v2 with engi mate (Pushing far, engi holding point while you roam and so on you want to go shout since engis are weak against condis) if you mainly fight with an ele on your side you should run hambow being able to eat direct damage. In teamfight hambow is offensive (CC, setup burst, pressure) while shout is mainly defensive (You almost play as a bunker guard, looking at condis on mates, their hp and so on…with the only difference that you can actually kill stuff if they manage to eat enough condis)
Anyway is a rather long story and a pretty different playstyle even if shout is probably overall way easier to play than hambow at high levels (I know some reterds actually think facerolling you kb is enough, that may be true if you’re used to be a scrub playing vs and with other scrubs..but there’s actually a HUGE difference between good warriors and ppl who just randomly push buttons…they may look the same to those who know nothing but you can spot if a warrior is good or not after 10 seconds looking at him playing)
Anway both specs have their strengths and weaknesses and you must consider both your and enemy’s comp before choosing

Necro/Engi heavy composition = ShoutBow
ANY other comp = HamBow
Although why go meta? Do your own thing…

Lol I had to take my face off the keyboard long enough to thumbs up this guy. I literally had an audible gut laugh bust out at work. ????????????

Hambow is inferior in every way except when stomping
in the current meta.
mobility: shout
team healing: shout
team condition remove: shout
self healing : shout
self condition remove : shout
higher skill cap (better plays) : shout
harder to counter : shout
counter plays : shout
more reliable damage : shout
sustain : shout
reliable CC : shout
getting focused by bursts : hambow
stomping : hambow
escape : shout
hambow does so little damage as well, after all the damage nerf.

The warrior is barely part of the current meta. Too sluggish.

yea, imo hambow is just out of the current meta by miles.
while shout is a nice replacement for DDs

Not even. DD has a lot more reliable damage.
ShoutBow just can not stick hard enough to a target, nor can it apply enough condi’s.
It great support though. But that is it, whereas DD can still handle themselves in defending point vs multiple targets, the ShoutBow build can mostly just buy time vs more than 1 target and not apply counter pressure to the attackers AND survive at the same time.

There’s never a reason to not go haaaaaaammboooooooooooooooooooooow.
Shoutbow sucks.
shoutbow is stronk
if youre good with it and managing your fire combos and sigil of intel to blast maximum might and land crits on arcing arrow and final thrust, then compared to d/d ele shoutbow is only slightly less damage and survivability but with a tiny bit more mobility and a lot more team support.
You’d have a hard time arguing shoutbow had even a tiny bit more mobility than d/d Ele when you are up against ride the lightning…
I personally do a lot better with hambow. Something feels off about shoutbow. The lack of CC and stomping potential really just kills the build for me. The extra mobility with sword/warhorn is the only perk that makes me consider using it…But each time I do, I end up going back to hambow.
