Where We Are Now
Yeah it is really disappointing the ballance team for this game is so bad. Gw2 has one of the most fun and engaging/smooth combat systems around it has so much kittening potential. A solid pvp balance team could turn pvp from a casual game to something played as much as dota (purely pvp aspect) but that would also require some new pvp game modes and significant reworking across the board on class design and abilities. It just won’t ever happen as much as we all hope.
I love how you’re all pro alternative builds opening up when it comes to ele, but when mesmer has buffs that move it toward having alternative builds opening up (cause that’s all the mesmer buffs could do at best) you get all kitteny XD
Lol

Lol
Mesmer needed the buffs it is purely emotional why players hate the buffs.
1. Power mesmer needed help so they buffed it
2. People saw condi chrono is op and was never getting fixed at all. Broken but usless before HoT Broken and useful after HoT.
3. People decided that since chrono wont get fixed dont give mesmer anything else because their jealous of this favored class.
Conclusion: They should have buffed power nerfed condi and satisfied the community. But they did 1/4th of the job.

Mesmer already has builds that were playable in ranked, most just used one because it was the easiest
Unlike necro where you have to use the same utilities or rev where you have to use the same legends and weapons

Lets be real though Rev’s have an insta gib combo that needs to be removed. I say this anticipating more sustain reduction.

insta gib?
This I can agree with.
The quality of patches seem like can be done in 1-1.5 months. Yet we wait for 3 mos. Hell, 3 years to save pets names?
. But they did 1/4th of the job.
Basically every patch every
Lmao I have to say i think this is the only game ive seen where so many people get kittened ofF after every patch. I suppose this what happens when you are at the mercy of really bad devs.
Not too bright but at least they are good artists
-So after another 3 month wait we now have:
- Revenants more buggy than ever (even after a patch focused on bug fixing) to the point where revenants cannot play the next season- Elementalists no longer relevant. I kinda expected them to completely annihilate the heal bot but i thought they would have opened up another build. Pretty naive of me considering what they’ve done to other classes before
- Mesmers stronger than ever when they didnt really need to be buffed in the first place.
- No new builds available aside from Guardian and maybe mesmer and druids. Power necros will still be unusable in ranked because of how stiff it is.
I’m not too surprised since ive been around for a bit and this sort of anti productive patch is a pretty common thing, but, if you are one of those that came in around HoT release well although i have nothing to do with Anet i’d still like to sincerely apologize on their behalf.
If you are like me and you spend most of your time in game at PvP then like me you are better off playing something else
I know dude! Completely agree. I’m trying to restrain my complaints so I’ll just say that I think this balance patch is taking this game one huge step more in the wrong direction instead of fixing the issues we have discussed for over a year.

Yes it takes about 1 cc and one second (3 skills). Swap to Legendary dragon stance after getting buffed up. Knock them down with elite/proc weapon-swap to staff skill 5 surge of the mists. Then finish them as they get up. It isn’t op the first time but they use it again and again and again and eventually you dont have the stunbreak/ energy to avoid it. For so few skills it should only deal 10k as a combo at best because thieves get on shot before getting up forcing them into mard amulet so they can at least have a brief moment to react. Even worse is the combo is often used after you blew defenses on precision strike.

lol if anyone is getting hit by this full combo then they either have no cooldowns or they are new and not good at using them yet.
I know you love revenant. But what you just said implies that everything is balanced as long as it can be dodged and everything can be dodged. I actually don’t mind it except for the fact that it is a quick kill combo with one skill alone able to take out a zerker thief. Unless they plan on upping the now (nerfed ele) hp and thief hp there is nothing they can do once this skill connects.
Its obvious why this kind of damage exists. 100% crit chance under fury+loads of leaching/damage buffs+Vulnerability and might stacking to max+unblockabale buffs
I also talk about many classes including my own main so I don’t think I have extreme bias to this issue.

Where we are now?
In a future condition META without counters.
We had 2 seasons of conditions overloads… Remember the 3 reapers team of season 2?? Or the 3 condi warrior team of season 3?
That was with having a healbot cleansing condies like candies.
Season 4, everybody would play condis or die. Or die anyway.

All reminds me how the builds where in SWtOR so much you could do so many specs where you could mix and match things. Guild wars has the same thing and like Swtor over time they take things away and add new things to make up for it then one day……booooooooooooom!! Now you just spec in that game set tree of abilities and set everything. Worse thing ever was when they took away that diversity in builds.
Is GW2 headed down the same path?

The combo you described can be avoided quickly by the other classes’ meta builds. All mesmer needs to do is port which is also stun break. On top of that they have the invulns and blocks a , guard has their passive stun breaks and blocks, thieves have their shadowstep utility, evades and steal.
You talk about 1 cc to start the combo which i assume is to avoid UA from being evaded, well where is the cc going to come from? sword off hand? even if you pull that off there are still stun breaks to worry about.
Also invocation rev is a very risky type of build, (which i assume is what you are talking about when you say “buffed up”) because of stuns

Again you start with “The combo you described can be avoided.” Everything can be avoided in this game…

And what would that be? UA, which bugs out and only hits once then sticks you in an animation you have to emote out of 50% of the time AND can be dodged AND has a very short range AND has a long cooldown AND can be invis’d out of AND really doesn’t hit that hard even if all attacks land?
Or Precision Strike, which requires absolutely perfect positioning (literally inside opponent’s character) to land even half the projectiles, can be reflected/dodged/blocked, and which they halved the damage in sPvP and lengthened the cooldown on?
Face it, they absolutely 100% killed power herald and are forcing us to use condi mallyx with half the sustain.
Again you start with “The combo you described can be avoided.” Everything can be avoided in this game…
lol im not trying to theory craft some build nobody uses to prove you wrong, im just saying stun break and basic defenses like dodge and block prevents anyone from taking the full combo.
