Where are the tomes of XP?
You get 4 tomes per completed track and I think one each time you rank up.
I have 1300, I wish I could sell them.
The good thing is that you can use this tomes with any character, not the one you use ofr PvP, so you can PvP with a character and after level up another to lvl80 in a few minutes (something you cant do when PvEing)

WTB 80 plz!
So is there a strategy for maximizing progress down reward tracks? I mean besides winning more matches than you lose? I realize you have over a thousand tomes Exedore, but I’m averaging a tome every 60 to 90 minutes which is an awful rate of progression compared to any other phase of the game (WvW, PvE, etc). Otherwise I have to conclude that PvP is not a great way to level one’s character.
PvP is not a great way to level a character. For that you do pve or eotm.
Buuuut PvP is a great way to level up for folks that enjoy pvp, because they do what they like and get tomes in the process. Also since lvl doesn’t affect a thing in spvp you don’t really mind your character level and after some time you get enough tomes to pump it to 80.
Unranked and Ranked wins reward more track progress. But ya, PvE is generally the fastest way to level up.
The bright side is that a lot of stuff in GW2 doesn’t require max level.
Alright, thanks for the info everyone.
You would think that Anet would provide better incentives for people to play PvP. I mean, you have to put up with getting owned by experienced PvP players until you get good. And a lot of people can’t run the builds they want to because PvP forces you toward certain builds if you want to win more often than not. And even if you’re good you can get stuck with a bad group, or your PUG goes up against an organized group and you get owned anyway.
Don’t get me wrong I enjoy the challenge of occasional PvP play and it definitely has made me better in other phases of the game, but the rewards just don’t seem to be there for an average or below average player like myself. I can get more levels, loot, karma and generally have more fun in WvW or EotM.
You gain somewhere around 1 tome per hour from playing queues, it’s a slow way to level unless you’d be doing PvP anyway.

You kind of can. Each one gives a spirit shard if used by a level 80.
