Don’t know EU servers are mostly full.
If I had to guess why this is, I would think it’s because of the overall balance issues. There are still a lot of really cheap and annoying builds out there and I think it’s a turn-off for a lot of people.
Everyone I know left because of crappy balance and this one mode (conquest) being crammed downed our throats until it becomes a moneymaking e-sport.

Because anet needs to fix the server browser.
AS of right now if you see a game 10/20 and you think to yourself “hey I can join that game”, so you click on it and it says full, that’s because theres 10 spectators that the browser doesn’t show you. The browser also doesn’t tell you player max, so you could join a 17/20 game and be wondering why you cant join and only spectate and that’s because the owner of the server put it to 8v8.
Anet should show do it like 10/20 +10 with the + being the spectators and they should also show you on the right side or somewhere the server settings.
Yeah. That server browser is annoying. It’s always x/20 because the spectators count to 20 and in a 5 vs. 5 you can have 10 spectators and in a 10 vs. 10 no spectators, right?
Then it should at least show the spectators and show 20/20 if there are 5 vs. 5 with 10 spectators online.
Better would be if they fixed it to show only x/10 in a 5 vs. 5 and show a “remaining spectators” slot like in () after the x/10:

tells you there are 8 people fighting a 5 vs. 5. 4 on each team.
And 4 spectators. 6 slots remaining to spectate.
Creating a couple filters helps with filtering for 5v5 and 8v8 servers. I made two filters specifically for those group sizes. Then when you are looking for a 5v5 server and see 9/20 you know there is one spot free. You could try joining a 10/20 or 11/20 server and hope a couple are spectators. They really need to work on how easy it is to spot players vs spectators but the filters do help.
And then you actually get to join a game, and its people dueling, so your ‘teammates’ are standing afk as you get focused by up to 5 people and told to get the f out. Great fun after sitting through 5 loading screens because of the screwed up spectator mode.
Dont even get me started on how much more of a hassle it is to group with a friend now. My gf is the only reason i started this game up again, and its become seriously frustrating to play with her.
Being in a game till the end should always give you a spot in the next match. Theres times where i get forced to spectate because new people fill the game up before the loading screen even finishes.
