Liane Frostfire – Elementalist [TWP] Ilona Frostfire – Mesmer [TWP]
Enya Frostfire – Mesmer [OMFG]
Hello, I´m an elementalist, playing mostly tPvP and I just have the need to write some of the problems I´m encountering of my soul.
Since the dhuumfire patch playing this game has turned into never ending frustration.
1st Thing one might say is I should just stop. But hence I have been waiting for this game since the first rumors about it evolved, and I have seen how incredibly large its potential is I just can´t leave this be.
I have played elementalist and mesmer thru the dhuumfire/spirit ranger meta and now the warrior meta. Always with arenanet telling me theyd improve things. Now, in the 6 months since dhuumfire elementalist, the most underpowered profession currently in the game (NO ONE denies this anymore) has got nothing but nerfs and two gimmick traits. Still I stuck to it, I liked the challenge and it was kind of fun.
I spent a lot of time on dueling servers, beating and being beaten by what was op at the moment, knowing that to win I had to massively outplay them, and even then a random hit could kill me. It was fine. Winning made me proud, people respected me for that. Only when I lost it never felt like loosing to a better player but more like being crushed by a bulldozer because of failing to dodge it.
There were a few occasions where I played people better then me. Loosing was actually fun and I learned from it.
Now since warriors were buffed to godmode every single good player either quit or changed to some feature of the month build.
In 1o1s the rare interresting fights nearly entirely disappeared.
In tPvP I get insulted the moment I join with my favorite profession.
Loosing lost its positive aspect, as you learn nothing if you just get steamrolled by professions and builds which are so much more powerful then yours that even the most skilled player in the world, who I deffinately am not, barely stands a chance if his opponent is not asleep.
Now, an other patch was promised for December. But it reminds me way too much of the October fiasco.
Where do you take the faith from to stick to this place? I believed in this game and the people developing it, but now that has become nearly impossible.
Tell me, and others where you take your hope and faith from in these dark times?
Sorry for this overly theatrical and possibly arrogant mess, but I just needed to do something…
I know that feel brother.
pats back
But when you wreck other teams as an elementalist and have one of those perfect games.
Or when you outperform another person in a 1 v 1 doesn’t it make you feel great?
It just makes you feel great knowing that you stuck to the class you love and that you can match and even surpass other people, even when you’re kitten.
It’s a great feeling knowing that you’re better than everyone else.
#ELEtism
Ele was amongst my first characters. I still play it on occasion in pvp, but it’s just a way of keeping myself entertained in this game. If I were you, I’d give up any hope. Although it IS true, that Anet fixes things over time, there is a major downside to their fixes. Everything they “fix” ends up being broken braindead passive play spam bullkitten. Like necros, or warriors, or rangers (remember when they had to time evades to bunker? Now they only need earth spirit!
), or soon phantasm mesmers and condi eles (possibly after dec 10 patch). To be honest I hate everything that is coming with that patch. Mesmers are getting buffs in areas they don’t need buffs in (phantasm/condi specs and mantras which are useless and dumb idea in the first place) and Ele is geting a massive nerf to balanced spec in compensation for giving it a passive play option. Rest of the patch notes are equally kittenty.
If I were you I’d throw away any hope you might have left. The game was good the first year it was out (well, most of it), because Anet was trying to make it e-sports. They have changed their strategy into making it more “casual” friendly now, which translates to every kittentard noob being able to win a fight with his big PVE norn warrior or ranger.
*Added a new damaging condition Torment
To a game balanced without it.
I’ve made posts about how to make the game interesting. Using traits NOT to make builds but rather play styles.
But I think they are just going to keep making the same mistakes.
