NA vs EU
This debate has gone on since release and due to poor representations by North American teams, many people believe that Europe is better. During the all star event we saw NA players who do not even constitute the best teams on NA (1/5) vs The “best” European team. At pax we saw Hiba throw the NA finals which sent Zombify and Davinci to pax prime…..

Even this WTS will not determine which region is better… Abjured which has half of its optimal roster and TCG which might not be the best team EU (CM/MIM)

So with my highly analytical skills i will determine the best region in the game.

On a individual level I will analyze the best players of each region vs each other

Having played on both NA and EU for an extensive period of time, I definitely agree on the first half of your post (although thieves on NA are usually more tunnel visioned on skirmishes rather than focusing on gaining map advantage, but mechanically better).

If we’re bringing up things that don’t correlate to the comparing of GW2 regions, take a look at 2014 Worlds. Not a single EU team made it to the bracket stage. NA had three. How ’bout that.

Toker did farm sizer in those scrims AND before one of sizers fan comes and says that his map awareness makes him better… The reason Toker kills him is because he doesn’t see Toker coming and Toker has more mechanical skill

You do realize 2014 Worlds = the 2014 League of Legends World Championships, right? And you do realize not a single European team made it to the bracket stages (the final eight) and three NA teams did, right? I guess the truth about that makes me delusional. Who won the 2014 Hearthstone World Championships? A player from NA. Saying NA doesn’t do anything in eSports shows your ignorance. Especially when you include LoL in the discussion and say they don’t do anything.

The only other games that are eSports and are even worth a discussion are Starcraft, CSGO, and Dota. SC2 is dominated by Asia, both EU and NA are out of the discussion. I don’t know/care about CSGO, an outdated FPS with graphics from 1999 (literally, from the original CS). I don’t watch Dota .

I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with you, but please don’t use selective sampling to your advantage. “I don’t care about this game” isn’t valid reasoning to exclude it from the debate. If that was the case I would never talk about League. Also If we’re going by the graphics logic with CS then HS is a 10 year old game since it uses assets from WoW, and League/DOTA2 are about 11 years old since it’s inspired by the WC3 mod.

Tl;DR: Selective Sampling is bad.

Do you seriously consider the amount of viewers as an indicator for the competitiveness / esportness of a game? Following your argumentation, I could look up the most played games and call them esports with the alikes of WoW, Diablo and Minecraft?! A bit narrow minded, eh? It takes more than that to call a game e-sports and you’re obviously completly neglecting the esport’ness of games with smaller communities, eventhough some of them are/were/have been more competitive than GW2 currently is. Also: Hearthstone definitely isn’t a e-sport. It’s just a digital version of Pokemon training card game/magic/yu-gi-oh.

I don’t know your gaming background, whether you come from MMORPG or FPS games, but I’ve played several FPS (semi)-competitively (Q3/CPMA, RTCW/ET & CS) and it’s always been the same with Americans/their teams “bigmouthing” and then falling short to Euro teams.

I honestly don’t know whats wrong with some of you guys constantly needing to draw comparisons to the Euro scene/Euro teams and putting them down/talking kitten. Why are you desperately seeking for acceptance and admiration from us? It’s an image that can also be found in reallife, as the average Johnny-Boy will almost always ask us what we think about America in general or poltical decisions they make. It’s just funny how the most powerful and influential country in the world seems to be so concerned about the image other countries have of you instead of not giving a kitten.

Okay too much offtopic, but here’s the deal: Euro’s usually simply don’t care about the NA scene, because why should they? In GW2 e.g. your PvP scene is practically dead. Lesser teams, no real competition, dead Leaderboards etc. Euro scene is where most of the stuff happens and it’s the same way in other games, especially in FPS. Euro’s would probably completly forget about the NA scene, if it wasn’t for your constant stitches on the forums. You’re basically just a mosquito.

Confidence is always good, but kitten some of you are way too full of themselves, eventhough you haven’t yet proved anything competition wise. Thats is why many of us just laugh at NA scenes.

This discussion took surprisingly longer than I thought it would to turn into a kitten who’s got the bigger kitten competition.

The only way this would make sense is if there were a) a Berlin Wall-esque divide that prevented players from choosing their own region and b) a fundamental genetic difference — entirely different species of humanoids living in the Americas and in Europe — that created a substantial difference in video game playing abilities.

The original post I made talked more about esports in general. Unfortunately there’s so many factors that can impede with the “whos best at esports” question (some games are ignored in some regions, smaller games vs larger games, etc) that I think it’s virtually impossible to answer.

When it comes to Guild Wars, it depends on how you look at it. Based on my observations, NA has better individual players, while EU seems to have better “team-play.” A lot of this is due to the builds and metas on each region however, so this could change as the meta shifts.

If we look at it from a purely factual standpoint, EU is currently 2-0 at major LANs, which arguably would make them the top region. However, many people like to contest those LANs stating the NA reps from those LANs were not the best. If EU is to loose WTS S1 I imagine a similar claim will surface given current rumors about the state of TCG. The OP here has even mentioned that Abjured isn’t necessarily a legitimate claim to the might of North America. It’s incredibly hard to look at which region is the best when the respective communities disown their teams whenever it’s convenient for them.

NA vs EU is like….salt vs pepper. Both are great on meat, but salt is great on its own whereas pepper needs other veggies and kitten to make it taste better than salt. Literally and metaphorically, if you catch my figurative drift.
