I think Abjured Will win but i’m pretty curious to see the distance in score between orange logo and The Abjured.

Whats interesting is that the other teams sound more experienced than China’s Heaven and Earth. I’m curious if they’ll be able to make smart individual plays or will Rock be calling most of the shots? No doubt they’re experienced enough to be here… the mini bio for that team says otherwise but maybe that’s just how I read it.

I’m rooting for The Dankenning. I’m a fan of Eurantien’s Ranger and the overall team composition. If they win it would give rangers a huge mentality boost. Not to mention a different “Meta” could emerge depending on how well they do.

I’m most worried about Orange Logo. Four of the 5 classes have multiple proffessions. Not that the other teams wont do the same, it’s that these guys are most experienced in countering The Abjured and even a team like The Dankenning. There’s no telling what kind of composition or strategies they’ll bring to the Tournament on a per match basis.

That’s because most necros are beyond terrible. EU has maybe two good ones, neither of whom are as good as Nos. Necro only works once the player is at a certain skill level, and very few currently are. And I don’t mean mechanically, because mechanically necro is very simple. It’s the overall game awareness that sets Nos apart, in my opinion.

On topic – Based on recent form, the Abjured will take it and not by a small margin. The only upset I can sort of see happening is if one of the other teams brings the cheese and goes for direct counter comping. But even so it’s going to mean people playing classes they are not so experienced with, which tilts the advantage back to the Abjured.

Overall and as an (obviously) biased EU player, I’d say the EU scene is broader than NA’s, but NA’s top team is currently stronger than what ORNG can throw at them. China is not on the same level yet, but if (and it’s a big if) the Chinese scene continues to grow, they are going to spank everybody in 12 months.

If the abjured doesn’t win then it’d be an upset of the largest caliber.

To be perfectly blunt, the abjured has had, IN THE LEAST, 40-50x as much practice, as a 5 man in teamspeak, than any of the other participants.

If they don’t win it’d be bad for the game or it’d be someone throwing….

Furthermore, playing in WTS Beijing was one of the most nerve wracking moments of my life. You couldn’t possibly understand without being there. The next four to six GW2 games mean you win 5,000 dollars and go home a champ or all that work means nothing. Without that mindset walking into it, you won’t win. But when the game starts, your adrenaline is pumping so god kitten hard that your fingers won’t operate the way you want to and auto-pilot kicks in.

4/5 of the abjured proved individually they can handle the pressure. I personally hope that noscoc flops, but I don’t think he will given the experience the other 4 provide.

Abjured certainly. Would be vicariously happy with a Dankening win though.

OEggs, you guys did remarkably well against the Abjured with Acandis, CMC, Muffinz and Zoose after only playing together for, what was it, about a week or so. Why not keep the team together, build synergy and consistency? There were moments in some of the games where you guys traded blow for blow with the Abjured. I was sad to see you guys disband. Any chance of a reunion for the next WTS qualifier?

No it won’t be bad for the game. It can be even much better.
Nabs will qq that leBeztTeamMurica which practiced for months, got rolled by team that exist for couple of weeks.
Others will look at it differently – even if you’re a Top Dog, you have to prove that you’re a TopDog all the time. There is always a fight for Top place. That means, today we can create a new team and start playing together with mindset to get into WTS. After weeks we’re ready for it and we can win. That means simply that everyone have a chance to get Top place,
With this, there is a high chance, that more and more people will start forming teams with competitive mindset and start applying to Tournaments.

As someone can say – Gw2 is no eSport, look at CS or LoL/Dota etc.
Sure, but Gw2 has small eSport playerbase and showing that newly formed team get into finals will have some positive impact on it.

There is a Polish movie(old one) “Wielki Szu”(Big Shu). It’s a movie about hazard game, poker, money and mentality. Making whole movie short, when you’re playing a game, you have to think about winning the game, not about money. Money quickly blind people.
As you have said, you were not mentally prepared. Probably mostly thinking “if we win, $5k” “if we lose, nothing” “if” “if” “if”. And obviously all those people, light add additional pressure.
I’m sure next time, you’ll be less stressed, and you won’t feel like you have 5kg put on each finger.

I agree with that sentiment under any other circumstances. But reality hits hard and adrenaline is real. It’s not stress, it’s being more alive than you ever could be without facing death.

I think people read too much into the tournament results with respect to “na vs eu vs china”.

If the na team is 5 of the best 6/7 players in NA of course they should win.

The EU team are all really good but their strengths are more multi classing. It would be hard to say their individual players are in some top bracket. There are better players on other teams and better players on no teams. The hardest fights I have had are often vs solo queuers (who just dont want to bother with teams) and no names. As well as top players from teams. In short the eu scene is very broad, although less broad now since they got rid of solo queue.

Once you got to play a fair bit of solo queue you kind of realised who were the ones capable of carrying once your strip away all the ego BS and just looked at the facts. Sizer was number 1 on the list of people who are amazing and can carry super hard. I think if eu team cant win WITH sizer then having a similar team without him will not let them win.

As long as we won’t need to cringe because of stuttering/lag/production issues, I’ll be happy.

Abjured will most likely win. I’d like to see them lose though, I have nothing against them. However, it would be nice for another team to win for a change.

Necros are terrible in the EU and there are maybe one or two good ones?

That is such a stupid comment. I know of many good necros like every other class. The problem for necro has always been that on EU there are a lot of hard counters such as many shout warriors and dps guardians currently.

Also Necro is a snowball class, you can’t call all EU necros bad compared to a few NA ones when those NA ones are in 500-0 games all the time. Trust me, if you give any necro a team which is dominant they will appear to be amazing because of the snowball nature of necro. Life force is the factor here. You try playing necro in a pug/solo queue or in a team NOT BASED AROUND A NECRO and then try and keep life force up vs the constant farming from a thief/warrior/guardian.

Also if you play necro without an elite thief on your team then NO POSITIONING MATTERS. Seriously you do realise 90% of the time a good necro dies it will be on “their side” but it is easy to cc the necro and really hard to peel vs some classes and those classes which foucs necro like dps guard/thief can just extend to kill the necro. Really…it is just ignorant statements.

Trust me, I know a ton of really elite necros on EU, both in wvw, in pve and in pvp. Just like there are good players on every class including the other weak class the ranger and the mesmer which is also the next worse next to ranger/necro.

Well guess what, if most eu necros were playing against the weaker teams in NA the eu necros wud trash them too. IF they were in the best team. Such is the mechanics surrounding a necromancer. Its like people want to get all ego about necros sucking on eu and about how they are all pro. If you guys think you are pro then prove it. Don’t give it the big man about necro sucking and stuff. Sorry, couldn’t resist. Don’t be mad. I’ll address a couple of your points, and on the rest we probably just need to agree to disagree.

Yes, necro is a snowball class. Yes, you need to think about your team comp to utilize its potential to the maximum. Yes, peels are super important. But none of these things are exclusive to the necro, and many other classes and specs are in a similar situation. For example, D/P panic strike thief is great if you have a team that can capitalize on it, and extremely mediocre if you don’t. Not to mention completely useless if your team can’t communicate. Same goes for shatter Mesmer. A power ranger is constant downed state food if it doesn’t receive peels. The list goes on.

As for your rant on being pro and playing soloQ, I have no clue what you’re on about, unless it’s vented frustration about necro not being the glorious soloQ carry it was a year ago. Other than that, you more than anybody should know that sPvP and tPvP are two totally different animals that don’t even coexist on the same planet. The viability or unviability of a class in one proves exactly zero about the other. I sincerely hope your argument isn’t “I play a lot of soloQ with necro, therefore I know necro is bad”. Because if it is, I don’t even.
