So, ideally no one won and everything’s balanced…

but this is the internet and we’re on video game forums, so of course we’ll all be talking about how the complete opposite is true. =P

Anyways, my vote goes to Engineer:
– Elites got significantly buffed
– Blast finisher on dodge
– They can actually see their back piece now

edit Oh yea, and also they got the ability to reveal stealth just by hitting anyone stealthed…which shouldn’t be hard for a class that spews AoE everywhere.

Yeah, the blast on dodge seems pretty strong. I don’t know, I didn’t see it all, but I feel like they’re still not buffing the right stuff. I mean, 90% of time I play fresh air and even I think that the buff to fresh air is ridiculous.

…yet we still don’t have some great elites and fgs is getting nerfed due movement skills not being affected by swifntess.

-We’re all happy about mostly everything
-Significantly strengthened our supportiveness via Inspiration changes
-Survivability buffs for glass mesmers via Cripple accessibility and some good blind
-Condition buffs through both Dueling changes and Illusion changes including the changing of trait placement, specifically moving MtD down to Master tier to open up our options for GM

100% agree. I feel like the ele changes were thought out pretty poorly. Didn’t really buff the things that needed it and moved alot of strength into uninteresting parts of the build. Removal of lingering elements right as you buff soothing mist? Healing Power ele’s highest source of group healing is just going to be a 0 interaction passive effect now that encourages camping water. Fire camp staff build getting buffs yet again promoting boring and passive gameplay.

Eh, it hardly makes a difference. Range was never really a limiting factor with steal and you could chain teleports to jump to someone from way across the map already. The cd reduction is nice though.

Oh well…thieves will insta teleport/spike you from 1200 range, well outside of scepter range, the fresh air ele will be dead regardless in most cases

You cannot fully trait for one attunement to be able to get locked there and do fine, yet they’re pushing the gameplay this way. My idea was to actually remove the damage from all instant kitten fresh air has and move it somewhere else. I dunno I just don’t enjoy this whole instant stuff no tell gameplay.

Terrifying Descent: When you take falling damage, inflict fear for 1 second on nearby foes. Reduces fall damage by 50%.

They are going to jump off cliffs and just fear everyone. Not only that – they will take half damage whilst doing it.

What are you even smoking. The best pve dps build sits in one attunement all day long and they’re only buffing it. The only other change that promotes attunement camping is the soothing mists thing, but that’s crap and everybody knows it. There’s nothing that suggests they’re promoting one-attunement builds without giving you the resources to do it well enough.

Fresh air with this change is good design. Gives you the option for more spike damage but forces you to think about utility access as the tradeoff. Still the same dps over time because it was always limited by the other attunements anyways.

Fresh air builds are more predictable than most other spike builds anyways. You can’t do jack to reliably block out thieves or mesmers as another zerker, but you think fresh air is the spike build that needs more counterplay? Wut

Difference between having a build being countered by others and a build that has skills with no cast time and tell. I guess you do enjoy such builds, but not everyone is like you.

Also, I could see some eles using the traited Soothing Mist, since it will give you 414 healing per sec for everyone if you have 800 HP. Far from being crap.

I think they want us (thieves) to be able to run away when getting hit with Lock on.
Thief goes in, get hit by random AoE, thief runs away. And Dark Syze wanted fun and challenging gameplay? lol
Don´t complain about the new troll-build 60660 or 00666.
Thieves were already not ment to engage into a 1vs1 against every class except mesmer (on high level gameplay). Now we will camp shortbow, go in for a low-health-target to kill it and run away even more.

Tool kit is on literally every build. Slick shoes is borderline exploitative. I’m really not seeing how anything the guy above you is saying is out of line.

Tbh every class is getting more braindead since they’re handing out passive stuff.

Well, there’s less passivity, meaning more active traits. For instance, using Mesmer as my example since I’m most familiar with it, Mirror of Anguish is very passive as it just procs without anything the mesmer does. Chaotic Interruption, however, is more active as far as traits go, proccing as a consequence of the mesmer’s own actions and reactions rather than as an automatic reaction.

This is what I believe Stickers means by active vs passive[AKA braindead, as he puts it].

I’m not sure why everyone is saying engineer. Engineer did received a lot of new, interesting traits. However you can no longer pick up all the cele rifle engi traits in one build. I think it’s more of a side-grade than an outright buff.

I would say warriors made out best. Shoutbow is even better than it is currently.

Not listing all the great stuff you got, but you took some hits and got some compensation and then some~ And you were already in an ok place before![<Unnecessary exclamation, not angry] Thus, while you can complain, be grateful as you got more than you gave.

Also, being nerfed in some places and buffed in others is called “balancing”, it isn’t all buffing so you should always expect to take some hits if certain things are a bit too good, AKA grenades being able to lay out AoE damage and condition barrages from 1200 range. Now you have to be in reasonable range to lay down that damage, or just take Mortar and barrage from 1500 range instead. Really, give and take, as I said.

Because shoutbows got nothing on the buffs ele and engi received. +warrior was hit hard in other areas that negate a lot of the buffs they were given.

And every other warrior build isn’t even playable anymore. It’s shoutbow or reroll.

“favorite class” “all the buffs”. Engineers barely ever received buffs, mostly nerfs. The whole reason Engineers suddenly got into the meta wasn’t because Engineers got outrageous buffs (like Warriors did a few years ago), but simply because the meta changed enough that what kept Engineers out for more than 2 years, wasn’t in it anymore.

anet is notoriously slow when it comes to balance changes, we all know that. That’s why Warriors were left to dominate (and still do!) for more than 2 years now. And i don’t think Guardian has ever NOT been part of the meta, or Thief for that matter.

Even the oh soooo “pitiful” Ranger has shown up more consistently as a top contender in pvp.

Even the oh soooo “pitiful” Ranger has shown up more consistently as a top contender in pvp.

I’m not sure I follow what you mean as a “top contender”. Are you basing this off of the high level tournaments or personal experience? The high level scene is almost devoid of rangers.

In my opinion classes that got niche stuff:
- Mesmer
- Engineer
- Thief

Classes that got quite a nerf:
- Warrior
- Necromancer

As to some do not list thief then why don’t you take into account few things:
- Better sustain
- better access to fury
- HP + Initiative regen in one go

the ranger changes were pretty incredible:
to name a few:
defensive traits giving 33% less damage above 90%,
attacks causing weakness and giving protection (thats MASSIVE mitigation)
5% less damage whenever you have regen, and tons of passive regen.

1500 longbow range and 100% faster velocity by default

spike trap will now knockdown (letting more condi ticks stack up)
damage is more front loaded and punishing now
traits allow for more poison and bleed damage,
all traps apply cripple (making it take longer to get out)
60% faster trap recharge (alot faster than current iirc)

general pet buffs, all stats up 150

call of the wild on weapon swap (might fury swiftness)
66% faster skill recharge on weapon swap!
combine these 2 traits and you can let off a nasty rapid fire, and then another rapid fire 4 seconds later (20 stacks of vuln and a TON of damage)

Engi by far:

  • AoE Moa
  • Blast on dogde
  • Any blast will heal, of course that means blasting water field heals even more
  • A bunch of skills got cool down reduced (like Slick Shoes—as if it’s too weak)
  • Drop a mine and med kit that heals for ~1000 icd only 2 seconds
  • 6 blast finishers with crate if needed. Potential to heal party to full in a few seconds, while doing damage and stun.
  • If you want, perma stability that refreshes every 3s. Gotta dominate that stronghold/stomp/rez

Engi will continue to be meta for pvp.

P.S: oh, and that Lock On gonna be fun for Thief/Mesmer too. Basically the buffs move Engi to the top of God Tier, where each team must have one.

Gray out the HP for future condition damage
Already quit PvP. Just log in here and there to troll.

celestial engi won’t be meta anymore. maybe we’ll see a valkyre or knight variation.
