If you haven’t gotten the memo, they are trying to make sPvP and PvE more inclusive. So you are going to be seeing more PvE based rewards because they want to attract those PvEer to do PvP and the reverse to a lesser degree, since they are so few in the first place.
With that said, those rewards are terrible. At best if the current rewards stay they should be for the end of a tournament or soloQ win and not for ranking up. That is just silly.

So I just got a steel mining pick from a rank up chest. Why are you giving me this garbage when I want to SPvP? There is no mining in SPvP maps so why would I need a mining pick? I already miss the excitement of getting new gear every hard earned level.
What rank are you ?
Maybe you got a “lower rank” reward which would suit a low level pve char.
I know people dont want “pve rewards” "but as it is many people have asked for valuable rewards, so those are necesseraly pve related.
Also, the excitement you speak of was very relative considering it would take you months to cross the next 10 levels past ~50
Thy probably will add resource spots to the nodes in spvp.
This way, bunkers can farm some mats, if nobody is approaching the point.

It is going to be awesome for me by virtue of the wardrobe being implement anything else is just gravy.
