Q:
Why 0 reward for full 500-0 match?
You most likely didn’t even manage to get any personal score, which normally does only happen to poeple, who didn’t play at all.
Therefore the system doesn’t give you any reward – next time try to decap some backnode or zerg some glasscannon. Secondary objectives tend to work well for that aswell.
as she finished beating me up a mole times.
Let’s try something you’re actually good at.
It is unfair there is no reward if one team gets totally outplayed.
Its intended as a way to make sure AFKers doesnt get a reward. If you didnt get any personal score, the game most likely figured you were AFK and just didnt reward you for time spent.
Did you really not manage to kill a single player / cap / decap a point?!
- Theodore Roosevelt
For what exactly would you like to receive your reward?
So…do you want a REWARD for doing nothing? OMG…how bad is gone this game.
I really miss the reward system of GW1:
- Rank, Glad and Champ points ONLY TO THE WINNING TEAM;
- Balthazar points only if the team kill someone;
- Chests only if you win HoH.
Less “farming-players”, just players that do their best to try to win the game.
You guys were playing so terrible the system thought you were afk. I sometimes fight people who I thought were afk.
i experienced 500 – 0 before so i can imagine how he would be feeling.
fortunately, the 5 of us were able to get some personal points.
i got 10 points from a banner revive, another team mate got 10 points for a successful ferocity medication commune.
and please, keep the “played terrible” comments to yourself.
you try playing against players from the top 10 of the leaderboard then come back here and tell us how you did.
blame the stupid match making for arranging such unfair match ups.
I often do. Almost everyday. Some are really great and some are only there temporarily. The leaderboards dont mean much when you see someone top 25 with less than 20 games, but some of them are truly great great players.
But to have zero points? Cmon man. Killing someone gives the team 5 points.

I really don’t see what your point is here. My friends and I have played against people like Good Fights, of course we lost, but we still made points and it wasn’t 500-0 either. You or your team need to be doing some pretty mind-boggling things to actually score nothing at all.

a score of 500 – 0 is not impossible for players of their skill and experience.
you also need to remember that we, being human beings, have morale, i dun know about the others but i know my morale was utterly crushed and i was only trying to find ways to get some personal score so i would get some rewards (rank points, silvers, rewards track progress) at the end.
fortunately, all 5 of us got some personal score at the end even though the team score is 500 – 0
Yup das meeee. And I completely agree that they are great, I never knocked good players. Im saying to never score any points is ridiculous. Ive been anywhere from 500’s to not even on the leaderboard in just a few games. Win and move up 100+ spots or lose and go down 100-. I agree solo queue doesnt mean much.
I do play tpvp, its just with very different groups, my rl friends (one likes to bring his bearbow girlfriend) or with a much better team that could at least score A SINGULAR POINT, and has (not an accomplishment you almost do it the second the game starts) against some of the best players in the game.
This whole things blown out of proportion, getting defensive for what? Play better and you will get more than 0 points thats the truth of the matter
Edit: after reading the post above, I want to aplogize for hurting your feelings and pouring salt on your wounds after a crushing blow to your morale. I usually learn a lot from losses im sure you did too

yes, i am being defensive, because of the words you all are using. it is rude, not polite. not nice etc.
what i am trying to say is, when 500 – 0 situation happens, the fault does not always necessary lie at the team with the 0 score. the match making system should not have paired a team with 100 games of experience against a team with 2000 games of experience.
it is already unfortunate that they end up with a team score of 0, to be deprived of any personal score is rubbing more salt into a huge gaping wound.

Really? I’m not even trying to be rude and some people are speaking matter of factly with what’s presented.

Sure, some of it is about bad MMR with who you get put up against, however, it IS the team who is at fault if they can gain no personal score and not even a single point in 500. I understand morale as much as anyone, but I still find it incredible that no points were scored anywhere. It makes me wonder what the team was doing, whether there was even a plan or any adaptation(s) of that plan or improvisation rather than filtering onto points full of enemies instead of attempting to make an intelligent play.
it is already unfortunate that they end up with a team score of 0, to be deprived of any personal score is rubbing more salt into a huge gaping wound.
That is the fault of every player on that team. They couldn’t cap home point? They couldn’t neutralize a single point? Sneak to an enemy capped point while everyone else was getting bodied? Kill a single player? Raise a single player? Depending on map fire a treb shot? Get an NPC? etc etc
It is unfair there is no reward if one team gets totally outplayed.
Its seriously amazing that your whole team couldnt kill a single person (even 5v1) or cap a single point (even when you just start the match, you couldn’t cap close) on top of that, you couldn’t even cap or finish a single secondary objective. No way should you get rewarded for that
if the other team is extremely experienced and the player skill level difference is too big, yes, it is possible to experience 500 – 0 and 0 personal points as well.
just because you did not experience it personally yourself, does not mean it will not happen to other people.

And you need to assume responsibility for your own actions in a game where you AND your team failed to score anything at all.

I don’t know you or your team (obviously) nor how long or what experience you have in PvP, but aside from better/more experienced players, when you look at the teams you had for these 500-0 games, do you think perhaps some of it may have had something to do with your team composition?

well, on average, the other team had like 2000 games played each, while our team is like 70 games played each.
and the other team took quite some time to swap out 3 professions against our team so yeah basically the other team swapped in professions that hard countered us.
i like it better in guild wars 1 where we cannot swap professions before a match starts.

How do you know this? Is this because you recognised names?
I understand what you keep saying about the experienced teams bit and this is something you cannot change, I’m trying to give you different viewpoints on what you can change – no, you’re not going to suddenly win that match by having some startling revelations against those kinds of teams, but you should fare a lot better than 500-0.

That’s a pretty common tactic, we do it as well depending on what we are up against so that we can improve our chances, it’s something I would encourage your own team to do as well to prevent getting completely rolled.

well, since it is our first 500 – 0 game, my team members were saying, “must screen shot this” so i took a screen shot. i added the names of the other team into my friend list and checked out their stats via the leaderboard. then i realized they have lots of experience and are currently at the top of the leaderboards. many of them were former top 10 players as well.
by the way, i consider it a victory for us since we each got away with some personal points before the match ended at 500 points.
well, swapping out is only possible if one is able to play a few professions efficiently in a tournament game (solo arena / team arena) so for a casual player for myself who believes that i can only play warrior effectively in team arena, swapping out professions is not something i can manage at the time being.
perhaps i am just afraid of being the dead weight of my team, or causing the team to lose etc. i did play minion master in some team arena games before but decided to stick with playing hambow warrior after that.
i did try out other professions in hotjoin 5 vs 5 to practice the builds though. perhaps i should just practice more.
People need to stop assuming that others don’t know how to play. Comments like l2p are the laziest form of “advice”. It’s just short of moral posturing. Never presume that someone can’t play unless they admit it themselves.

Practice with other professions in hotjoin to start with, a lot of people HJ to test builds and such. Is this the same for the rest of your team/friends?

Everyone has to start somewhere, you’re only deadweight if you don’t try, don’t learn and don’t improve on anything and just play every game ignorantly.

Definitely practice more, not just on your own, but also with your team to better mesh together, learn to compliment each others playstyles and also figure out your tactics as a team.

There is no better proof in not knowing how to play this game than finding a way to not score a single point.
Learning all the professions will make you a better player indeed. Especially the squish ones that require you to dodge or look for particular moves or die.

I always find the best way to learn how to counter a profession I have any problem with is to play that profession and learn how it works.

aye, thanks!
well, i admit that i can’t play certain professions like elementalist / thief / engineer properly in sPvP. too hard for me at the moment. probably need more practice though.

well, i think most of us are only good in 1 profession, they can play some other professions but i think i see them playing their main profession most of the time.
for example, gearpaw likes to play thief, but realized that he performed better if he plays his shielded turrets engineer in team arena. so in the end, he played engineer more then.
i noticed that kendy can play guardian, mesmer, thief but most of the time he will be playing warrior.
joanne only plays elementalist at the moment but it seems like she wishes to practice other professions as well.
as for nana, so far i only seen her play warrior.
dapi only plays engineer but he is quite good with his engineer though. well, unless hard countered by very good players.
errr for myself, hambow warrior. XD
hmmm yeah, if we do not improve then we will only stay at our current level.
yeah, we would do 1 vs 1 practices to test our builds, and …. yes, team synergy is important! i saw this happened in the teams that beat us. a ranger and warrior together, the ranger would lay down a water field (healing spring) and the warrior would blast it with hammer for area healing.
Learning all the professions will make you a better player indeed. Especially the squish ones that require you to dodge or look for particular moves or die.
hmmm all right, i gotta spend more time practicing other professions more often then.
hey, thanks attrail and Static for sharing various advice and tips! i appreciate that!

It’s a good idea, I know you are casual, but playing other professions just to understand them better in a PvP setting doesn’t mean you have to spend months mastering them, but it can provide a good eye opener.
hey, thanks attrail and Static for sharing various advice and tips! i appreciate that!
You’re welcome, it’s nice that you can actually take advice!
