Why ESL is boring?

I really like watching the pro league and I am so excited for it coming back on Monday. I have been really missing watching it the last 3 weeks. I admit the current meta isn’t the most exciting, but I think enjoyment comes from how close and unpredictable the matches are rather than the style of play used. I was watching the games from the most recent world tournament series not long ago (I wasn’t interested in gw2 esport events back then) and they were mostly very exciting because they were so close and went to 3 games a lot of the time. The pro league is different, there is a clear difference in how good the top teams are and how good the bottom teams are which results in quite a lot of one-sided, 2-0 victories. However even in this meta I have to say I watched one of the most exciting games on gw2 I have ever seen in week 3 EU- orange logo vs. More guns than roses. The third game of that matchup… How can you say you didn’t find that extremely exciting and entertaining? You just didn’t know which way that was going until the end. That is what makes for great viewing, not the meta at that time.
Overall I would say that there are a few really boring games in the pro league, but that is down to the teams that are playing each other and how closely matched they are and not the bunker meta. If you get some really close games in the bunker meta, I can’t see how that would be less exciting than a fairly predictable, one-sided game in a different meta.

The bunker meta certainly doesn’t help

There is no incentive to make it exciting so teams just play the fotm comp to try to win.
I attribute it to being that GW2 just isn’t a good game to make an E-sport out of. I do ech Tyger’s concerns over the thing as a whole, but GW2 has a few additional problems, in that it is hard to watch and it is hard to measure progress.
They just need to shave some defense away, like block, evade and protection uptime. The crowd wants to see clutch moments, fast burst, outplays and not “this can take a while” when 2 people fight each other.

that awkward moment when its always been two bunkers playing a shovin stuff match, the change now is different classes with the words invulnerable+evade+block popping up often.
