hi,

how come we don’t have access to a Public Test Realm? is it due to lack of resources, or is it due to philosophy?

PTR’s have done wonders for quite a few games out there. Dota2, EVE, even WoW to an extent (when they chose to listen to the players). is there a specific reason things are so different here?

reasons for PTR:
- more feedback, better metrics for you; you may have a lot of internal testers and i know you invite people, but obviously the sample is not big enough
- less bugs when releasing content patches
- faster balancing; hotpatching little tweaks into PTR would allow players to play around and tell you right away whether it works or not

reasons against PTR:
- ????

Probably for the same stubborn reasons mothers never tell what stupid crap they’re buying you for christmas.

It must be a surprise even at the cost of being something actually useful or wanted lol.

Reasons against PTR: 2 of Anets Devs testers would be out of a job.

+Most of the feedback they already thought of, atleast a good majority of the time devs respond with ya we thought of that are are doing it.

& it doesn’t seem they want faster/quicker balancing. We get 2 months of fun leading up to pax then a month after be it oct 1st or 15th we will get another crazy patch. Wonder if it can get worse?

Bugs? They release things with known bugs be it at launch or new features. They have to, so us on PTR will have such a small impact on bugs if any.

Lots of reasons for not having a PTR within the 1st year of launch. Funny thats the 1st thing Id be working on, would have saved them so much time.

I mean letting players help solve problems? Nah
