(…) is what I screamed on TS when we got stomped on again in TeamQ, when tripple-queing again…

I can tell you, there are many reasons I got aggitated at that moment when I said that, and there was a reason for my “cry”…
I like PvP, I like it a lot, as do many people since I do see a lot of people play it… Though because I like it so much, I also tend to get really upset about minor things… and I mean really…

These past couple of days I have been called a PvE Scrub, a troll, a bad player, a cheater, a hacker, overpowered (S/D ele too stronk) and a lot of more crap in SoloQ, but I can manage that…
I have been trying to gather people to play as a solid team, and it is not working out at all since “PvP is not rewarding enough” but I can manage that….
I have been, together with my teammates, paired up against top teams while double or tripple queing, basically playing half-handicapped against a full team, but I can handle that…

It is just that whenever it comes together in a small period of time, my enjoyment is starting to slowly fade away and I am wondering to myself “Why am I doing this?”
It is a good question really, because I could do way more things with my time that are several times more enjoyable and most likely more rewarding, but I feel I should not be looking into that because a large part of me wants me to have an enjoyable experience in the Guildwars2 PvP…

I want to ask you guys: “What keeps you playing PvP?” and “What can be done to create a more enjoyable experience for everyone?”

I really like GW2 but the fact that i cannot play it with 1 or 2 friends makes me play other games instead. Also, the solo arena experience is really bad (skyhamer cough cough)

Find another game that you can play with 2 friends and stop the frustration.

Well I can tell you this…it’s hard to get 5 people together with like interests that ‘jive.’

Look at wow, 5v5 is a barren wasteland. 3v3 is a bit more popular, and you have 2v2 that is the absolute most popular by a landslide — even though it has barely any rewards.

The fact is, it’s pretty easy to find a like-minded individual and queue with them for hours. It’s nearly impossible for me to participate in 5v5 though, for example, because I can’t find a group to do it. By the time you’d get a fifth, a couple people have already left by that point.

we put together our team from scratch with no prior tpvp experience with any of us and we think we’re pretty competitive so i mean its pretty ez imo to find a team

This game isn’t WoW, everyone is on equal terms. Theres none of this lets see who has better gear. Just because they’re both MMORPG, doesn’t mean since 2v2 3v3 works in WoW that it should work in GW2, its 2 completely different games.

Frankly 2v2 and 3v3 doesn’t work in GW2… Look at how many custom arenas are running them… hardly any.. I see 1 maybe during primetime.

GW2 gives you the ability to do things like 2v2 3v3, its just nobody is interested that’s why theres hardly any 2v2 3v3 packed dedicated arenas.

Now what keeps me interested is rank, I left as a rank 43 back in September, I’m just going to get to rank 80 and then I’ll probably quit. Because there’s got to be better games than this. Also I’m tired of getting frustrated and this game gets me frustrated not because of skyhammer, but because how cheap it is, not other players, but 4v5, and horrible matchmaking and people (good players) stacking sides on hotjoin (its more noticeable with all the servers 5v5), also that hotjoin sucks, I liked the 8v8 games.

But yeah, by time I reach rank 80 college will probably start, better games will come out, and frankly MMORPG’s just dont last that long. Sure they’ll be around like Everquest 12 years and still going, same with World of Warcraft, but theres already starting to be emptiness in a majority of the zones which pretty much makes them not last that long because everyone is grinding the newest content the rest of the game is dead. Theres nothing left to grind after rank 80.

If everyone says rank doesn’t mean anything, than it doesn’t mean anything.
If everyone says leaderboards is messed up and that it doesn’t mean anything than leaderboards is messed up and doesn’t mean anything.

So if rank doesn’t mean anything and leaderboards is messed up, whats left of PvP.

Its not like we have glory vendors or anything like that, that stuff has been taken away.

Nothing is left of PvP is the answer. Hence why it never became Esports because day 1… Rank meant nothing, leaderboards meant nothing.

2 years later, still the same. Rank means nothing, leaderboards mean nothing..

I blame it on the anet developers. The community tried to reach out and let them know by doing sotg, but the developers didn’t act upon the feedback.

Like a simple thing I remember from sotg was “so would you guys be happy if we could save your builds and you switch builds easily?” “yes”…. 1 year later, nothing happened. Well truth be told they added a pvp button, that does everything as you did before in the hero tab. If the developer thought that’s what the community wanted than he is dumb. The community wanted something where you just press 1 button and your spirit ranger, press 1 button and your BM ranger, press 1 button and your power ranger, press 1 button and your in your skyhammer template. We still have to do all that trait changing, sigil changing, runes changing, weapon changing, with this current pvp build and its clearly not what we wanted. Thing is that sotg was way way way back before September 2013, he clearly had enough time to do right but, instead we are stuck with this lazy made same thing as hero screen pvp build with no options to save build templates which is what we wanted in the first place. Nobody asked for a different button to do pvp build, we asked to save our templates.

Instead they removed pvp vendors and added pve stuff into pvp. made hotjoins 5v5. I see less servers, and less people in tournaments. Only thing I see more of is people not doing anything in hearts of the mist.

If you guys are complaining about balance now, just wait until 2v2 or 3v3 is widespread. The game is not balanced for that at all.

I see that I am not the only one who thinks the way I do… A pity, the combat within this game is absolutely amazing (sometimes frustrating as well, but you will keep that in competitive play)

I also seem to find a line between most of us, and that is the inability to not being able to que up with 2-3 people because you take a huge risk in getting completely stomped by the enemy… Now the Devs have openend up on the discussion of new modes, and I sincerely hope it is playable with 2-3 people…

Also, there is a fine line between being able to find a team, which I managed, and getting one to play on a neigh daily basis, which people just not do since PvP is not rewarding in it’s own way (winning is not a reward anymore)… Most of us are rank 80 and got nothing to work for, leaderboards are funny to race on another to, but in the end are still a broken and silly mess – I cannot blame these people for not wanting to play regularly at all…

How would you know if it hasn’t even been tried? The thing is, if we are going to wait for balancing first before 2v2’s or 3v3’s have been released, we can and never will expect those modes to happen… Release it first, wait for community feedback and adjust it for the modes – you cannot release a perfect mode at once… I mean, conquest in it’s current setting was not close to being balanced when it was launched, and though it took a while (but could’ve done faster), we are getting closer and closer to a comfortable meta, with although some annoyances, an overal good experience…

Play for winning toL? that’s what we do, works well enough.

If people would stop complaining about the game and went and got better, found a good group of players through the LFG forum or messaging random people that are relatively high on the team leaderboard, they would find a team they enjoy playing with and compete. It would be more fun.

Yea, there are a lot of trolls/a-hats, etc. online, but if you’re losing control to them, then it may be wise to take some time and center your control back to yourself. This will improve your PvP and will likely help a lot in your personal life as well.

Hey man, I don’t know whether you actually took the incentive to read, but I already stated that I got some people to join a “team” – however, not all of them have their reasons not to play as much as others in our team would, so we got multiple playing just once a week…

Dedication is hard to find with apparent reasons, and I am curious as to how it can be “fixed”…

No worries, my “screaming” was not meant like I went ballistic and decided to punch my screen or something… I did not even raise my voice… It was just meant as an emphasis on my frustration – no keyboards were harmed during that event…
I am no psychopath, I am just someone who has a keyboard and voices an opinion sometimes…
Also, not exactly my point either… I already stated that there are many things in this game I can take, but a lot of unenjoyable experiences right after an other can raise your aggitation quickly – this is human…
Most of the time I just log off and play another game, while joking around on TS – however this game seems to have many things that are good, but a lot of things that can make you annoyed… There is no harm in losing if you can discuss why and adapt to the situation; however losing because of annoying team comps or bad matchmaking makes you grid your teeth…

I am aiming to tip my finger on why I sometimes do get annoyed and why I questioned the fact that I am playing… I am playing, mostly, because I like it right? So why does the game sometimes make me, and some others, feel the complete opposite? And the last of it, is there a way to solve it within the game rather than turning away from it?

If simply like to see more sPvP content. A new profession, new weapons, new skills a new something. Granted a lot of the existing content is not working as intended or is just an ineffective skill/trait, still. Call me greedy,impatient, or selfish but I’d just like some new content that could be enjoyed in sPvP. I don’t particularly care what happens outside of the Mists.

Is Just like to see things get shaken up. I’d love to have the freedom to make a viable Condition Rifle Engineer Build or a Power Pistol/Pistol Engineer Build ect.

I do enjoy hoping on an casually wreaking havoc. But I will need new content to take this game into a higher level of seriousness.

I want players to have more freedom with their build creativity. So that every time I que I can’t tell just from looking at the roster what all 9 players builds are.

I get what you mean – just by throwing in some goodies, even unpollished, they should shake up the community as a whole and make us excited again…
Though I have my doubts whether new stuff is going to keep us happy on the long therm, it’d do wonder on the short one… Plus with those new modes you would always have something to switch to, because in the end, it is probably the combat that is the best about this game

Just kidding, unlocks in pvp. There is no level playing field.

Id say the reason is because you cant find a better alternative.
But i do suggest for the sake of sending the devs a message, stop playing. They need to implement certain features or the game is simply not worth playing.
I remember first week after release, we were talking about missing gamemodes and build templates on teamspeak whit my team. Eh they will add them, no worries gw1 had them. Few years later, at says just kidding, pvp dosent provide more income than pve, GEMZZZ ESPATZHS PVE!

With the old tournament system you could do this.

With the new tournament system its less friendly to make friends with. Because you solo que and win, you cant say hey lets go do team que, because only elitist play that and they’d get crushed.
Also you cant solo que with them because its solo que for a reason.

So all in all you just end up not making any friends at all.

With the old system you could que up solo, win a game. And “hey lets que up together”. Win more games and make friends.

The thing is not everyone agrees to que up together so, you’d have 3 people que together in the old system and it was perfectly fine.

In the new system you either solo or you have full team. Sure those elitist can do duo and trio que and win, but bunch of randoms duo trio queing in team que just leads to frustration.

If I was the decision maker, I’d go back to the old que system and fix matchmaking.

I have made a ton of friends from soloq and we have gone on to completely dominate teamq, in fact I met Jtan and stoddlez in soloq because I noticed that hey we are the ones carrying these noobs. Then we went on to trioq for 3 days without losing a single match.

PS Stoddlez quit 4 months ago and I am still very sad :/

I can truly understand how you feel.

Apparently the main contributor to your suffering is Arena. They refuse to keep noobs at bay and throwing the newbie kittens in the cage filled with huge fighting lions.

Yeah, and i ask myself the same question too

I play 30/30/0/0/10 s/d ele a lot in solo q, because it makes you sick at other more viable zerker classes.

But I have to meditate (literally) between pops. Especially between skyhammer matches.
