So I thought I’d play a little ranked today after a friend said he was getting hammered in every game. So I spend the whole day, and while I did win a few games this morning, I lost every game after that, and only 2 were a close loss, the rest where close complete blow outs.

I mean I’m sapphire T4, by now I would expect people to know how to call a target and to focus on said targets, this should be common by now right? I counted more than 6 games were I called a target, and no one called another target another target for the whole match. The one player ran around with a target on them the whole match. even when that player was not in the “big” fight, no one called a new target.

The next thing I noticed, was on kyhol, people running like lemming in to the middle when the enemy team if dropping treb rounds in to the room. and getting them self’s killed. not even regrouping, just running in one at a time to die.

People who go far time and time again, and die each and every time. they must be insane. it didn’t work that time, maybe it will now. Here’s a hint, he’s better than you, go help someone.

I would have expected by this point in the season that people would have figured these things out, but there seems to be an ever growing number of players like this. and when I play ranked they are always on my team it would seem.

I’m starting to wonder what ANet wanted to achieve with all this. Because for the average player it’s just a frustrating mess. I’m starting to think I’ll never get the wings. So much them being for everyone.

Why wouldn’t they? Anything up to Ruby you can grind to regardless of how bad you are. You can go 3-100, but if those 3 wins were in a row, grats you made some more progress. Matches won’t get consistently above baseline until mid ruby, and even then sometimes people are just better.

It is also possible that really strong players only just started the season. In fact they are legendary but you just so happen to see them on their way up. Your current level is not necessarily your skill level. Some players won’t even have amber rank but still capable of kicking your kitten .

run a better meditrap build for starters?

Blowouts are still happening because the system is deliberately created to cause blowouts. It heavily favors one side.

A contributing factor is the fact that the player pool is diminishing as a result of the ongoing blowouts. That has likely caused ANET to need to widen the pip range for matches.

Blowouts happen at all levels. In my first match at legendary we were winning 250-0 before I died and gave up their first 5 points. Needless to say we won that match, but it is not a division issue.
It could be the players, the comp, the rotations, etc.

But at legendary tier, everyone has to have some decent MMR to get there. So I am going to rule out MMR as the reason and claim one of the ones listed above.

The system has determined you are a stepping stone for others. This is how the system works. It creates winning teams and losing teams. Is there a chance for the system to be wrong, of course. Losing is not all the system’s fault. There is a lot of player input in there too, but we have to recognize that in order for some the rise others must fall— or stay “forever” in the same position.

Wow that was really helpful……..

it kind of is…you don’t run JI and uses a bar filled with traps, other than being a half decent node camper, there isn’t much else you can bring to the table for your team.

Blowouts will always happen. Things tend to snowball if you get behind with mostly solo players.

The MM system was deliberately set up to cause blowouts. As to solo queue players… I’d wager that the vast majority of players would prefer casual and solo play.

I feel that a small vocal minority has hijacked the game and tried to turn it to ultra cutthroat competition. That’s doomed to failure though, there aren’t enough players who want that to sustain it.

Strong players just startet there first or second f2p account to play and avoid 1 hour que. Most of the highly skilled twitch streamers are doing this

One team is favoured. One team is not. What your asking is akin to why Mike Tyson had so many first round knockouts. He was the heavily favoured. He was matched against heavily unfavoured.

The results were as expected.

As he said himself when asked if he felt he was being matched against boxers who were not of his calibur, “I do what any champion should do when fighting a lesser guy..I dispatch them quickly.”

Ergo..you get blowouts.

If you wanted close and competitive matches, this is the wrong season/game for you at the moment.

The system doesn’t set up good matches. It picks a winner.

Yeah, so far when I’m solo-queuing it’s just a cycle of win a pip, lose a pip, repeat. Then I stumble onto some people that can play, team with them, win a few games in a row and move to the next tier.
