Why are bunker > zerker builds?
Start with some definitions. Many so-called “bunker” builds are more hybrid builds that have more damage than true “bunker” builds.

Maybe you ran in to a axe/lb might stacking war. Whether they have Knights or celestial ammy on they hurt alot and are quite tanky.

Bunker and Zerker ckittenually fight to a stalemate. The zerker has to not over-commit. What tends to happen is that help for the bunker arrives before long.
Right now there are a few builds, notably from warrior and elementalist, which can put out decent damage while being very survivable and will win long fights.
It has to do with baseline damage being high, surviving the burst, and buffs. A berserker has no defense and is quickly killed even by baseline damage, especially the lower health classes. By going defense you increase your health/armor/evades/etc so that you can survive longer vs berserkers. Along with that defensive stuff you’ll also see a lot of might boons which further enhances their damage. The idea is that if you can survive the Berserkers burst, you have enough time to kill them before they can burst again. There are certainly outliers to this theory like the thief since you can’t kill what you can’t see. On the opposite side you have warriors that can build high damage and still be tanky.
true dps builds will have no problem punching big holes in true bunker builds.
in gw2 sPvP, the sword is always sharper than the shield.
