off-hand training is a joke?? is just one of MUST HAVE traits for any trap ranger build. lot of trap rangers even use 2 off-hand weapons, but this trait is especially for torch, witout it your torch is pretty much useless to defend/atach a point ( and that is the only reason to use a trap ranger build, as point defender or atacker)

i can just smile to mesmer guys saying can kill a trap ranger easy, yes they can if are fight them on open area (this only happen on hot join because i never saw a trap ranger on tournaments that isnt on near point or far capture point), if you need to defend/atack a point you are useless against them.

i know because i was a mesmer point defender and after sometime lot of teams were using rangers as point atacker to counter meta.
those fights were a nightmare, couldnt do any serious damage( they just need avoid iLeap and even a full burt combo take 50% health only) and as soon i have burn on me i was dead, dont forget i already loose my point because i cant stand on point otherwise i will die in 5-10s.

Still currently BM Bunkers are better. So many dodges and healing with nearly permanent Vigor up time while pets kitten people.

Best part I can send my pet to mid point while I’m not busy

Several classes can 1on1 a mesmer.

Ranger ele should win the 1on1.
A thief seems to go 50/50 with mesmer depending on how its speced.

d/d eles cant really touch bunker rangers. u can dodge every burst chain, and with steady bleeds/burning and pet damage u will eventually win.

As a mesmer nothing poses a threat to you

Rangers seem to be really strong when they fight ..err at range and
use their pets to tank.
As long as they don’t try any melee commando thing they are more than ok.

Anyone who has advice against trap rangers for thieves PM me (srs), S/X thief advice wanted the most but whatever. Most annoying build ever faced, tried to counter on my own did not come up with it, brb having to go with a team mate to kill a smart ranger?

Blah…was hoping people wouldn’t catch on how good Rangers are at 1v1..

You can see the videos in my Sig if ya wanna see me 1v1 in World vs World, I use Pain Inverter though so it just makes me even more silly when it comes to 1v1 Fights.

Honestly I can tell you exactly which talent makes Rangers good for 1v1

and its the Protection on Dodge talent in Wilderness.

Its only 2 seconds, But considering you’re dodging damage and then you instantly take less damage after the dodge before allowing ya to dodge again (plus all our other weapon dodges) it just adds up so quickly.

If, as a thief, all you care about is 1vs1 and not overall tourny viability.
Go heal and condition cleanse on stealth, and caltrops , and do the conditions right back to them. Its long, but u can probably wear em down.
