Why are some PvP'ers so incredibly FAST?
It’s often helpful to know what is causing the mobility. What professions are you facing that you have this trouble with?
kinda sounds like a S/D thief with the “jumping” and turning around. btw that’s the S/D thief’s defense…
Macros.
Lol don’t do that.
More information would be helpful.
Really though sometimes it takes a while for some people to adjust the the games pace. If people are getting behind you you can bind an about face to turn around fast.

You mean the build which kills you in 10 seconds and yet you literally cant hit because they have almost 100% up time on evasion? This could be what you are experiencing. My advice is quit pvp until they do something to reduce the frustrating things in this game, in no particular order:
1, Perma stun lock warriors
2, Perma fear necros
3, People who res themselves after you beat them
4, People who evade everything you do
5, People who make ai spam so you cant see yourself or your enemy or anything
6, People who play tiny characters to abuse all of the above even further.
Necromancer/Casual Warrior
[Team] Best WvW guild of all time. EASILY.
In PvP I often meet an enemy player who is jumping and running around so fast I can barely turn my face to his direction, so he always defeats me in no time.
How can I become so fast myself?
If it’s in a hotjoin your best bet is to spectate them, read their traits and skills and watch how they execute their abilities.
If it’s in a tournament you can always whisper them after the match.
That is most likely a thief with main hand sword. They aren’t actually moving that fast, but the teleport on sword 2 could be throwing you off.
If it isn’t that, then maybe an engineer running Super Speed.
Really need more details to pinpoint you issue, but I would suspect a teleport more than anything else. Even a mediocre thief can make camera manipulation a pain.
try to spectate some fights. u might be able to learn a few things about their mobility and combos

read sun tzu’s art of war and you will always win in pvp.
Didn’t know Sun Tzu himself is till alive to write a teaching of GW2.
It’s called a speed hack. This game has no anti cheat system and movement is client based so they are fairly common, though you mainly see them in WvW.

I’ve never seen anyone using any kind of hack. The OP probably is not used to see asura thieves blinking around.

Really? None at all, not even the teleporting gatherer bots? :P

Nope. I don’t practice WvW, but SPvP speaking, never seen a hack.
Assuming we’re not talking about hacking, since that’s pretty rare: practice and a good framerate/connection is what you need. GW2 pvp is very unforgiving if you’re getting lag spikes or poor fps.
As far as practice:
Basics:
Don’t keyturn (use mouse turn)
Hotkey all keys to easy access buttons. Pay special attention to what keys can be hit while moving (wasd). The point is to make sure that you have the ability to move your camera, move your character, and use abilities all at the exact same time
A high button count gaming mouse can really help with keybinds that don’t interfere with your movement, but it’s not required.
Advanced:
Learn all the professions (or at least the popular specs), so you can anticipate their movement skills.
Improve your keyboard dexterity: D/D ele is my favorite class for training this (despite being relatively weak right now). Learn your key combos (especially RTL->updraft->burning speed->fire grab -> ring of fire -> earth 4)
Improve mouse dexterity: If you’re not already high on it, start cranking up your mouse turn sensitivity. Raise it, get comfortable, raise it again, repeat till maxed.

It’s almost like thieves are completely broken.
we may consider whether or not there is an incarnation of [ele] that would be viable

hrmm, are thieves still that strong in 1v1s? I would have thought warriors would give them a run for their money.

It is just the ele is so slow. Cmon Theif vs Swirling winds? Or even ele using a focus…

Well, that’s because warriors have good cleave, nice staying power and no matter how they are built they can inflict heavy pressure if you stay close for too much time.
Or they can use Longbow burst to create a fire field that acts as a dead zone. And a point blank arcing arrow at the right moment can kiss a thief goodbye.

Because One does not simply succeed with Focus as Elementalist. The weapon is neither viable nor synergetic with other weapons.
