Why are they OP?
I’m not gonna really talk about Elementalist, since I havent really started to learn mine. But with people complaining about thieves being able to get in and get out when the situation turns bad for them, Elementalist seem to be just as bad about this. Between RTL, Lightning Flash, and myabe 1 or 2 other mobile moves, Elementalist are just as bad about this.
On mesmer, they are getting atleast 1 buff that I remember from the SotG video, with their GS #1 skill being able to hit other people within the line of the beam. Dont really feel that Mesmer is OP. All you have to really do is back off for a second. Look for the Mesmer that appears suddenly after a couple seconds of Decoy, etc. Look for the one casting a heal, throwing the sword, dodging, stabbing their GS into the ground.
One you practice a bit of patience when fighting a mesmer, it becomes easier and easier to zero in on the real one. Afterwards call target for any team mates, and to help yourself visually keep track of them. Do that, and beating Mesmer’s is pretty cake.
that would be true if mesmer did not have so much damage, if you sPvP or WvW, pay attention and you will notice you can fight most classes normally, tank for a little, have a fun time, and then a mesmer comes and melts all of your hp..

So a few classes are predicted to get nerfed today, and I was wondering why people think they’re op? I haven’t really played the classes enough to know about them.
Mostly these classes.
Tell me why you think they are supposed to get nerfed or people want them to be.
Elementalist
Mesmer.
As a quick and dirty . good players think the ele is OP. Hotjoin players think the mesmer is OP.
The reason the ele is good is because he comes in the top 1-3 for most things.
1. mobility 1st
2. durabilty. 2nd
3. damage 3rd.
4. sustain . 1st-second.
Ele is good at 1on1, and teamfights, and supporting allies, and can move fast. hes not quite as op as he used to be with recent nerf, but hes still really strong. also on maps like spirit watch his ability to run the orb is unparalleled.
Mesmer confuses new players, and therefore they complain about him. Rarely do more experienced players feel the mesmer is OP. Now the mesmer is NOT weak, its a fine class, and shatter is quite strong. But its not OP.
I dont think that eles are op at all. They are strong and in good hands.. To be honest i cant kill good ele but same goes with any good player. I cant really kill good engi also so i just drop them and go for something else.
Now mesmers. Since they sorted out shatter build out which were one shotting people i dont hink they are op also just really annoying.
Thou both of these classes are on ‘strong’ side netherless. You either boost remaining classses to their level or nerf these 2. It seems nerf is incoming.
I’m always amazed when people think knowing which mesmer is real instantly makes it a clear playing field. They would be competitive even if all the clones looked transparent. That part just makes them incredibly frusterating for new players, what makes them strong is their kit and prof mechanics.
Balance can be done just as easily bringing everyone else up as them down.
But at least one thing. RTL with orb on spirit has got to get fixed.
what is OP about mesmer is imo Deceptive Illusion trait… its core trait which is in all builds (at least shatter focused ones, which are considered strongest) as i know and its ONLY 20 point trait… that is what makes mesmer look broken and shatters to be OP, only this, because it provides so much illusions for confusion and shatters than anything else do… make it 30 point trait or add a internal cooldown (10sec maybe? seems fair imo) on it and mesmer will look much less OP for anyone

We won’t see gamebreaking nerfs, just some tweeks. On the other hand they will buff a lot (banner,kit/turrets, beaming for multiple classes). And for ppl out there. Ele won’t get nerfed in this patch!
eles yes even they know it .
mesmers yes even they know it.
Thieves, those guys keep catching nerfs but its really broken stuff that enables them to seem tough, once their stealth bug is " fixed " then we’ll see how the P/D builds do. prob quite well but wont be unkillable. Their burst builds already are controllable.
I hate nerfing though I just wish theyd make other classes stronger, another 6 months and we’ll all be out here swinging nerf bats at each other
Cry , winge , winge , cry , bla bla fkng bla , a game that allows you to only have 10 skills , and then the 1 class that take’s a bit of finger flexing to use and it has to be nerfed ? A word was invented a long long time ago for your kind it’s “noob”.
I’ve been playing for a while now, coming from W.O.W and AION pro PVP. I gotta say.. I was shocked when people call Mesmer’s OP.
1, It’s mostly new players that get lost in the clones so they feel they’re to strong. If you have enough practice at higher ranking sPVP you can clearly see the “Real” one. All it takes is practice.
2, It’s their defensive abilities that keeps them alive, they can’t sit there and take a beating from ANY class they’re like a wet piece of paper. If we don’t have confusion as our best defense.. then what does the class have?
3, Shatter is not as OP as people think, people usually destroy the clones and illusions WAY before they’re able to reach them with their AOE.
Elementalist
1, They have to be mobile as well. RTL SHOULD NOT be able to get a HUGE range in Spirit map IMO.
2, The only issue is see with Ely’s is their ability to constantly be at full HP with their water attunement.
After all, all it takes is some practice to be able to counter them… with every class Ely’s are the ONLY one to give me a headache and hard time, I can burst them down to 20% hp they RTL, or Port and come back in 4 seconds later with full HP .. rinse and repeat.
Dev 2 : Nerf Warriors
Too much mobility and healing on a elementalist it really is that simple. Mesmers are bad because there mechanic is bad. Pet spam is bad. It’s too hard to explain in words really it just feels like a class that can beat you by spamming pets and all the Mesmer has to do it is maintain distance from you which is easily done with all the stealth/mobility the class has.
