I’m being serious here. Not once in any game striving to be competitive I’ve seen people being rewarded for losing. It just doesn’t make sense!

I can imagine one asnwer to this question and I’m not liking it: rewards for PvP are becoming casual-based aswell.

In a competitive PvP game you enter a PvP mode knowing there’s a chance that you’ll loose.
Therefore in serious games you stake things in hope for good rewards for example you can loose your money and gear if you get killed in death match and the enemy can pick it up and use it if he won.
The least they can do is reward winners with amazing things while not giving anything to the loser. In GW2 I don’t even care if I loose I still gain something.

You gain much less by losing.
But you dont get enough for a win to justify the win.
Now since they merge the systems a rate of 4-5g an hour(or something of similar worth), if you have only victories that is, would be reasonable.

My point aswell is that by rewarding players that lose, you are stripping away a good majority of the competitivity, where people don’t care if they win or lose.

To be honest the only reason I care “a bit” about losing it’s because it drags down for a tiny percentage my win/loss ratio.

There’s not enough incentive to win and that’s why the scene is dead.

Tournaments should be like 1g a win, 0 if you lose. Average of like 2-3g an hour with 50/50. It’s not like you are focusing less in a tournament than you would be in a dungeon or PvE world event where you literally just stand there spamming 1.

I think it was to reduce the aggressiveness of players who hate losing. Like in moba’s you make one mistake and you’re eaten alive.

I think it kinda backfired and made everyone ‘meh’ about it haha.

I mean have you even played in solo Q?

If people can’t behave themselves and push together towards a win, and they ragequit, there’s a simple solution for that Ban them. Ban every afk/raging casual until all that is filtered and we end up with a much more smoother competitive athmosphere.

Play soloQ/teamQ. No one is actually REALLY REALLY wanting to win. Everyone is like “meh” throughout the game and their face becomes a smile if they win, or just completely neutral if they loss.

Not being rewarded for losing is a bad idea, and a waste of time. It makes no sense to play for a team to get rewarded absolutely nothing for your effort when its significantly easier to just quit and use that effort on another game.

It’s already bad enough where everyone quits and it becomes 7v8 or 4v5 for the entire match because the other side is winning.

I’m am thankful that the developers are understanding of this issue and at least provide rewards.

If you want to get all super serious about it, then consider removing hotjoins.

Please tell me where is the consolation prize when you lose in LoL ranked, hell, even normal games?

you’ve never heard of “runner up”, or “silver medal”, or “second/third place”?

you cited one example. there are dozens of examples of rewards/consolation prizes being handed out for competing. Racing hands our rewards for top 10 finishes. There are cash rewards and prizes handed out for everything. It just doesn’t get a lot of visibilty because they’re focused on the “winners”.
