Look, the rework on the rewards was aweful. The matchmaking system got worse (maybe due to pop drop), not better. Why didn’t many of you just boycott season 6 all together till anet addresses a few issues related to its changes.

I’m all geared up so I don’t PvP for rewards and I don’t boycott the only decent PvP game there is (hey, For Honor got boring).

My biggest gripe are,

• Placements – It can be improved.
• Matchmaking – It really NEEDS improving.
• Rewards – I guess this makes the list, idk.

Why would I boycott this season? I’ve enjoyed this season more than any others. The matchmaker works as well as it has any other season. All the rating exploits from previous seasons have been fixed. Class Diversity is better than it has ever been post-HoT.
Rewards are literally the only issue with this season.

Also I’ve been getting some really good fights.

Every rule has an exception. However that was a nice match up you had there, it’s always good to fight alongside those who know their drill, I also get such match ups and they feel right even if it is a loss like in your example.
But overall it’s not that all happy and flowery, as I said in a different thread, matches tend to be a huge gamble, a random dice throw for teammates and games are mostly one sided massacres that are hard or impossible to carry.
Day after day I start to think that it all went down because of introducing elite specs, perhaps suspending them for one season might give us a new point of view on how to fix some things.

Elite specs are just part of the problem. The big flaw is allowing elite specs alongside the old class lines wich tends to spiral into overperforamce (look at the chronomancer).
Easy fix for this would to turn old class lines into elite specs too, would allow core classes to have their own identity as well as elite specs to be balanced on their own.

This season is good and if someone need easy chests(armor/weapon) just farm PVE.
PVP game mod was never profitable as PVE.

I actually think that most of us did. Nice population there.

I did speak up against some of the changes (mostly rewards). I believe the thread got a couple of thousands of views and like 7 replies, 1 of which was a passive-agressive remark stating that the person was happy as long as the change kept noobs, like people in the thread out of PvP. By the way, I spoke about it the issue in game and did ask people who complain about the same thing, to voice their opinion on forums/reddit.

I think majority of people doesn’t provide any feedback at all until it’s to late, at which point, they start complaining.

So the real question is why didn’t YOU boycott ANet as soon as those changes came to light? Answer that and you’ll know why others didn’t.

When I need my pvp fix I play unranked this season. I haven’t played a PvP match in over a week. Zero ranked games in S6.

Spending 95% of my time in WvW this season. The other 5 % farming Winterberries for my ascended trinkets for all my toons.

It would be really nice if all the toxic forum posters would stop playing s6. I agree! Boycott it! The rest of us are having a whole lot of fun!

Because, this season I feel consistent. I’m having some great matches far quicker than last season.

During S5 I had trilled matches only during the 2-3 weeks before the end. I’m having some of those quality matches right now ( I’m only gold one, but I’m slowly climbing ).

You know, those kind of juicy matches in which you are literally running on a tight rope and your actual +1 decisions are the good one. You know that the other team is not that far behind but you and your team hold tight until the end.

I play pvp for those thieves moments !

I am not playing. Waiting almost 10 min and even then get poo match … no thank you. And decay + 15 games per week makes me just not wanting to try it untill the next season.

Its like playing the lottery, who knows if your going to accidentally end up rank 1

I’m in the same boat as this guy before Season 1 Leagues started. 2 sets of each type of ascended armor and over 20 ascended weapons, and a Dawn, and other treasures as well. I PvPed because it was fun, and stopped because it was boring I have been a PvPers since luring fools into Wildy of Runescape in 2000. PvP champ is my end game rewards in all the games, MMOs I’ve played.

PvE rewards was pretty much useless in my eyes. Just saying is all.

I’m enjoying it. Overall I don’t have as much time to play but 15/week has been manageable.

At this rate it takes a while to climb in the ranks but I’m progressing and should be able to reach my ideal MMR by the end up of the season.

Mostly I feel like the changes to mmr volatility have really helped keep people where they should be and that has made for better matches. This last weekend the matches I lost were mostly under 100 points. Another thing that is probably helping is the minimum game requirement isn’t padding the leaderboard.

People say population went down because there aren’t so many high ranks on the board…but part of that is because the game requirement limits people from getting on there without really playing. Many of those last season were likely not as good as the number suggests.
