i once had a match with 4 ele’s on my team. it wasn’t that bad. we almost won. i think we could have won the match if there were only 3 eles and there was another tanky profession on the team. i played as a spirit ranger on that match, btw.

I actually apologize when I run my Ele in Solo Q. I take full responsibility for my action guys… I’m sorry but they are fun to play!!!!!!! But I usually give up after 3 losses and just faceroll on my mesmer. GG

Most people still running eles are either pretty darned good with them to overcome the constant handicap, or brand new. When you get eles from the former group, it can actually turn out pretty well.

Spirits don’t give out free 5 points to enemies when they’re killed

To add insult to injury, ele players always get the “You’re a noob,” and “Automatic loss for our team” comments from teammates.

Having a good player using an ele can be an asset to the team. But then again, is having a good player using any other profession aside from ele the same thing?

Are any of them balanced or on par with other classes? No.
I’m R27 or something if anyone cares. This is because I started doing spvp late into the game due to preferring WvW by a long shot. (Got WvW season key in the first week on the lowest ranked server in Gold League.)

@OP: You can’t win with an ele on your team? That seems to speak more to your own talent level.

Actually I generally don’t mind eles on my team if they aren’t staff eles. Would rather have ele + thief or ele + mes than double mes or double thief.

I love seeing eles on my team, because people usually don’t take an ele into solo queue unless they’re good.

Maybe I don’t get it, since I am only rank 9 and really started pvp today, but I was wrecking with my staff ele in most of the matches I played. The matches we lost, however, were full of accusations towards me, regardless of how well I did lol. One guy even sent me a nasty little whisper and then logged off in an apparent rage.

Is solo queue not for noobs? Where else am I supposed to learn the maps and mechanics? This is a serious question, as I don’t want to be starting this game mode off on the wrong foot with the community.

Side note: I play TONS of WvW, so I am used to taking on other classes with my ele. I am not a noob to the class or the staff. I think my biggest handicap is not being familiar with the game mode in general.

Oh, I don’t get mad in any game lol… I remember when I first started playing WvW – getting yelled at all the time for using keep supplies, upgrading towers in the wrong order, etc. Yes, I got yelled at. Yes, I’ve died a LOT. But, it was all a learning experience.

I may have whined a bit about that one elitist loser, but I did get compliments on my playstyle as well. Even in WvW it’s dang hard to solo roam with a staff ele. I have all of the classes, and so far, and staff ele is the one that gives me the biggest challenge. That’s what I find fun about it. Don’t get me wrong, I would absolutely love a larger base health and all that, but I can only work with what I’m given. I just don’t want to step on any toes regarding any unwritten rules set up by the community.

i’d rather have a skilled ele and lose than 3 braindead noskill wars/spirit rangers and win, since they’re gonna reset everything on 26th anyway…points of view, playing with good ppl is always better than watching bads climb up just because they run faceroll fotm…both in mine and opponent’s team..

Haha, zerker staff ele with lava tomb and persisting flames ia a pretty funny troll build. You’ll be mostly useless whenever you get caught in a duel (and even then, it’s surprising how many fall to your 8 second lava tomb), but you can always position yourself safely and spam meteors, lava fonts and fireballs into a capture point and watch everyone die. Or just put yourself in the middle of the point and watch everyone get lava tomb’d. I’ve won several battles by geting downed over and over again. :P Someone called me useless (a warrior that was spending his entire time rezzing me), while everyone around was having a hard time surviving two lava fonts without forcing themselves to leave the capture points.

My apologies to whoever was in my team at that time! But if I have to die so fast, let me die with style.

Inb4 Lava Font nerf.

Well, the lava tomb build is surprisingly devastating at times, which makes for some good laughs. Also depends on the map. In Khylo, for example, you can place yourself on the clocktower’s roof and rain fire from then. 2-3k a tick per lava font, plus any meteor or fireball. It is devastating. Ice Storm from Frost Bow is also really strong in those situations. And if all else fails, or if you just want some extra fun, you can always just jump and automatically down yourself.

Now imagine two or three elementalits with that build. Aviators dropping lava tombs from the skies, one at a time! Is that a bird? Is that a plane? No, it’s the Flying Suicidal Bombing Squad.

i think a spirit ranger and an ele is a good tandem. A spirit ranger standing on a node bunkering while elementalists are inflicting massive damage to anyone who tries to contest the node.

i’ve played a power ranger build in a long time and based on my experience, as long as the tankers are alive I can play my role well. it must be the same for elementalists.

Theres a disgusting staff ele build running rampant in solo que.. with Max Deeps/Bunker capability.
but I’ve only seen one guy pull it off well….
