Why do skilled people make alt accounts?
Possibly because they are not actually all that “skilled” and would rather fights they know they can win rather then look less skilled having fights they are unsure of the outcome
I refuse to watch streamers on alt accounts blowing new people up
you’ve done your part of damage by opening twitch.tv on the first place so partly the blame is on you too
my only reason is to play with my brother, and friends at lower division. playing with them in my main account will only have them fighting opponent way beyond their skill level. but i know some players playing it out of ego, to prove something, or to troll others.

Why do highly skilled people make alt accounts?
Why not play legendary. From what i can se on twitch legendary ques are alot better now.
Making alt accounts make alot of less skilled people stuck with blowout matches and seems kinda counterproductive with the skilled player community whanted to not playing with theese low leveled people. Some will be carried and other will miss tier jumps and maybe get stucked.
I refuse to watch streamers on alt accounts blowing new people up. I would much rater follow and sup elite players playing tuff fights, winning and loosing and hear there indput on tactics , mistakes and what to change, than seeing them blow up mr random clicker in amber or ruby
There are still long queues. Supcutie specifically stated in one of his streams this was one of the reasons that he was on his alt.

There are some really nice gw2 content at times. Its ok, i can agree its a kind of supporting a broken system. But i also would like things to improve and actually think people streaming can help this. Just not people adding to the broken
They’ll say q times blah blah blah. Actually, I think they are nasty trolls that get a kick out of punching babies in the face.
When I finally got to sapphire, I wrote something on map chat about it. 2 legendary players starting making fun of me asking why I was proud of it. He got pretty defensive when i asked him how many hours a day he played. Mother kitteners need a life. I don’t have time to play a video game 8 hours a day and I think for the amount of time I put in i’m doing pretty good.
They are not skilled at playing the game. They are skilled at exploiting faults in the system.
people ask and pay good players to play for them
I don’t play on alt at all but last night I had legend q’s of 20 minutes and the teams were not balanced at all. I won or lost by a landslide.
Maybe during NA prime you can play in legend but any other timezone it’s just a waste of time trying to get a game going.
I seriously considered getting an alt but I didn’t wanna ruin other ppl’s experience.
winning is fun?
@OP:
blowout matches are more because of
1. bad matchmaking in general
2. really poor balance
They’re free.

To try and get random kitten like zerker amu core necro to legend on my non hot account.
Being able to play on both regions is nice as well.
It’s similar to the amber farming of season 1. They’ll tell you it’s because of queues or w/e reason seems reasonable.
However there’s a level of acceptance, in the upper tiers of GW2 PvP gaming, at least in NA that farming is acceptable, which is what these accts are designed to do. Because they can keep their MMR high, they’ll always be matched into good teams with ANet’s current system so always stomping other teams. Basically keeping the low mmr players low.
The attached picture is a mix of ESL players, these guys were farming this for the better part of 2 days, hour after hour in season 1 and ANet MMR determined these games were OK.
I’m curious if this happens on EU, or is accepted because it always strikes me as a cheapening of ones brand, Pro players becoming farmers. Perhaps it explains why EU performance is always better than NA.

I hate it that pro players bully noobs by playing on new acc their way to legend. It became a trend that masters make 10Xlegend on different accounts. they are slowing down or even stop other players in ruby or diamond.
What is the couse? probably 20 min ques in legend.
What is the solution? Maybe wider and faster range groth in matchmaking for legends
1. It feels less pointless, you see some progress, getting 3 accounts from amber to legend has been most fun ive had, and playing ranked in legend division is the least fun.
2. Everyone is bad, there is no mystical good players in legendary division, i come to this topic after watching stream of a thief who has legendary wings and clicks hes heal.
GW2 has some of the worst players ive seen in any video game and maybe if you are on very bottom it seems that higher division players are better but once you get basic understanding of 5v5 conquest, get keybinds and stop playing from first person then you start realizing that everyone is way way worse than it seemed at start.
they are slowing down or even stop other players in ruby or diamond.
not really.
they carry quite a number of players too while they go on their legendary journey.
i ran into booms who is on his 4th or 5th account i think.

There is a ton of reasons,
1- Que times
People are posting 10-15-20 minute que times and its because of this horrible pip system. Anet wants to put that carrot in front of us but many of us have the Legendary Back pc/glider and either dont care to play anymore or made a alt account so they can actually play.
2- Rewards/ Prizes
You have seen other posts about this as well. Alot of people who PvP alot got llamas from the AG/ what ever tournaments. Now they are just giving them out but alot of us already had 1-2-3-X llamas. So they are doing for gold/ dyes/ just more goodies.
3- Playing with other people
This gives alot of the high level pvp players to play with friends who dont PvP as much and gives them the best chance to advance in this league system. You can help your friends by having them in sapphire/ruby and forcing them to face high level players. They wouldnt win so this helps them.
The league set up is horrible, if you want to reward players then they should actually do that. All of us who play PvP alot and are decent at it have the legendary back pcs. Made it to leg 2-3-4 etc and do not see the reason to keep going.
The titles are cute but honestly when the game feels more and more dead what do you want people to do? I seriously had this match with 2 players, wont say there names or class but they were horrible and i told them they needed to not do what they were doing. They didnt and i lost the next 4-5 matches in a row. Next day instead of being on there team im fighting them and we had the worst comp ever and we crushed them. I dont want to play ranked with these people on/or against them for rewards/progression/ etc etc etc. You can see why others would want to make a alt account.
I just met yet another alt farmer. 400 ap and plays like an ESL player. Running an Asura scrapper. Great skill and map rotation, excellent team support and impossible for me to beat 1v1.
He took 5 pips from me before I friended him so I could queue dodge.
Once mid-season hits, division 6 becomes as horrible as any other since more bad players managed to grind their way there. The amount of pips required is suitable for 4 weeks at best per season, people that get to legend after that are way worse since the better ones already stopped playing.

Hey, matchmaking put me up against you a few months ago when I was queued up with legends and in a party, looks like you’re still scarred for life, but only thing to say is sorry for matchmaking. Only that S1 matchmaking is irrelevant now, but I hope your life isn’t still too disrupted.
And the rest of this thread needs to chill, we’ve just reached the point when a solo queuer beat you 1v1, you assume he’s on a second HoT account solely because he beat your kitten .
I don’t really know how people are buying HoT on new accounts enough to cause this much angst, not with the $$ to me.

That same alt has gained 20 ap so far this session, from wins.
Good morning Chaith.
Season 1 was rekt by players smurfing. This season is being trashed by alts. It’s basically the same thing, high level players using a loophole to farm easy wins and loot.

You realize most of these players are completely not caring about rewards ?
You think Chaithh and people like that care about golds, mats and such ? most of them can barely manage to find how to craft the legendary pacbkpiece by themselves because they’re just here to play.
The main reason for pro players doing that is because of queues times.

OK, that may be the case. Either way, the effect is the same. As a bonus, the practice will help reduce the population, thus further increasing queue times.

ah that’s the reason I would never have guessed – thats’ alright then!
I made an alt account which I got to legend for 2 reasons:
1. To help my friend who most certainly would have quit if I tried to get him to Legend by duo-queuing in Legend.
2. To prove that you don’t need HoT to get to Legend.

ah, what profession and build you used on your non hot account to get to legend, can share? XD
Because they can.
I’m sure many of them will say queue times as it’s an answer we can all sort of feel sympathetic to. It sucks to wait 20+ minutes for a match. I still think it’s wrong though. Ultimately there’s nothing any of the players can do about it.

Plenty of people have made F2p legend this season.
Condi necro, SA thief, burn guard, condi engi are all good choices for F2p builds.

This is another exaggerated problem just like MMR hell. Im stuck where Im at because of all these high level players playing alt accounts. Im stuck were Im at because my MMR tanked and now all I get are bad players as teammates. See where I’m going with this? Just think rationally how many of these alt accounts there would have to be and how often they would have to be played for this to be more then a minor problem for lower skill players. In addition these accounts move right on through anyway to there true skill level very fast. That being said I don’t really understand why these exist either. I have alt accounts I play but they were purchased back in the day before world sharing and I don’t really switch between them in pvp seasons although there is one I play as a solo only account but I don’t have enough time to play multiple accounts a lot I barely have enough time for one.

Because the Leagues are a JOKE based on GRINDS not on SKILL.
For the Get Good Clan, please go play Legendary… many people in there are baddest than many rubies.
The system need to goes back to what it was. If you win versus better player, you got better rank. If you lose versus lower player, you got a lower rank.
If you lose on a balanced mmr match you lose less rank.
And so on.
And… stop doing Match Making with Divisions or Pip range in Mind. Doing this is bad for Queue time for all divisions at start of the League. (they refuse to divide the queue for soloqer, why doing more than 7 divisions or queue than?)
The solution to smurfing should had been less PIPS rewards. Not season 2 match-making. Overfixing, Overnerfing, Over engineering like amateur.
If your team play with a player with a difference of 2 divisions, simply cut the pips gain by half. (season 1 pips system)
In 2014, between a top 10 or a top 100 players, you had something to do to progress.
Even the Abjured was not able to dethrone BrL supremacy on the leaderboard in the top 10(readymade, gorn, tesla…). (yeah I know, they Queue Dodge you… but they had at least been able to win more than once versus you to get there)
So, top players that are competitive, tried harder to get to top 10 even if they were top 100. This was a good competitive model.
Now they are legendaries playing with player that are at 90% of the old leaderboard system.
tldr; League are a joke. Even Legendary players prefer to reroll than play at their level. Because more than half of the Legendaries players are bad like amber but the queue time is too long to enjoy the game.

Tbh I’m surprised you would cheapen your brand by responding with personal insults, and making inferences that simply aren’t true. But then again, am I the one that hit a nerve? Perhaps try some new strats when competing with EU, farming isn’t one of them.
S1 provides context, S2 is the same dog with different fleas, so there’s that.
But please explain why multiple accounts into Legendary is a thing, instead of playing your main in legendary. I doubt I’ll get a sincere response, after all legendary team farming soloqers in season 1 was acceptable, sorry if they’re scarred for life but they need to move on. amirite.
After all, S2 managed to do it right……….. oh wait

I’m not insulting you by mentioning that you seem to have been really affected by something if you’re posting screenshots from months ago from different MMR systems that aren’t even relevant to the topic, which is smurfing.
I’ve not really a clue what it is you’re about, ‘cheapening my brand’, I’m just someone who plays the game, not Heinz Ketchup or posting on behalf of an organization or team.
And you really don’t know what you’re talking about when it comes to training methods for LAN events, you should probably leave that up to people who go. Leagues are casual fun, m8, god have mercy if you’re trying to get practice out of those.
Explain why multiple accounts to legendary is a thing? I only did a climb once not on my main, and that was a Season1 solo queue, non-HoT Engi climb on EU. I did it for something fun for my viewers on Twitch to enjoy.
Can’t speak for those that do, this season, but like most things in life, to each their own. Perhaps more incentive to queue in Legend would curve the issue, such as actual rewards, not counting the 2 dye and 5g.

Is 5 vs 5 teams scrims not worth streaming on twitch?
Just asking, i dont know from pro player view.
I know there could be builds, setups, tactics one would keep secret. But theese could be alternatet.
I would really love seeing it more on twitch outside tournement times. This would be good content for me and Way more cool than newbie farm.
I use a second account to try and get to legend on a baseline power necro using a berserker amulet.
Since the system has no character / class specific mmr or divisions using second accounts is imo a must if u want to play on weaker profs or builds.
I might be legend on 3 4 classes but only diamond or worse on others.

My main is in legendary eu
I created this account just so i can kill noobs in amber emerald and sapphire, yes it’s true and idc its fun. When you slaughter them 1vs2 all game on their close node you just have this big fat smile on your face, just how it is mates.
The problem is that now this account is almost in diamond and opponents are getting better so i have to create a new f2p account soon to slaughter the noobs in the future. Ah well its fast to get to rank 20 nways.

Pretty much no PL scrims have ever been streamed there’s too many moving parts in getting 10 players on board with that. The point of scrims is to practice your serious comps

I see people doing it for the rewards tbh. If a player flew to Legebdary then he can just as easily do it again to reap the rewards.

Yeah I see where you’re coming from but the only thing your posts have in common is anti-legend sentiment, cause in S1 when you 5 queue with legends you don’t expect to get solo queue rubies.

Yeah, but f2p account has limitations. That’s why it doesn’t really cut it.
Otherwise it’s indeed good profit. 100 g ~ for going legendary in 1 day x 7 days = 700 gold. But limitations screw this up.
They can carry people for gold though, but that is different story.
