Why do you think Gw2 is different?
I’ve only played WoW recently, so I can give some answers there.
In WoW, you have a large casual PvP audience in normal battlegrounds. Winning or losing doesn’t mean a whole lot and there’s not matchmaking to it. For the ranked portion, you have arena and rated BGs, both of which require you to queue as a full team. If you have a full team, players don’t give up individually and are more likely to try and improve in order to continue winning.
Any time you have a partial team queue, you start to see the behavior you see in GW2 ranked games.
well this is the only mmo i have played that isnt pay to win so that is a major plus. played a Korean mmo for the longest time but it was a money pit if you wanted to do pvp. seeing these threads in gw2 forums talking about class op have no clue what over powered really is in tell they play a Korean mmo . the no pay to win and the endless build options you can make it stand out. having HoT isnt pay to win. i know a f2p guy that is tearing it up in ranked with a signet warrior build from a few years ago
