Q:

Simple question, just look at the ranger section under classes.
Not a single red tagged post.

Anet just nerfs rangers over & over without an explanation, without any discussion as to how they can make the class work as a whole. not just 1 power build.
This is why Rangers were only given 1 Beta, because they planned to nerf them anyways. Prove me wrong anet, and address all the mishaps youve done to ranger- especially just a few hours ago.

Also, I’ve never seen a Dev ranger in pvp.

Irenio has done some amazing work for the prof lately. the druid was really well designed, but needs a few more tweaks. he basically inherited a pile of poop of a profession that had no feel or direction to it. half of our utilities and weapons need to be redesigned from scratch more or less. the druid was a great step in the right direction.

A very small step in the right direction, not to mention a pet of theirs was just nerfed, the smokescale, it was a “bug”- so now they have a random F2 utility that interferes with combo fields & poor damage. That clearly was not thought through. You can barely use CA unless you use a staff & aren’t bursted down before CA even charges. Druid doesn’t really work with the core of a ranger. You can’t use LB with GS & expect to use CA. Do the other profession have this issue? Do they have to use their new elite specs weapon in order to get their special ability to work? Rangers just feel like they could be better & when the changes are slightly positive, we’re given a much more effective negative along with the positive.

so run a build that will allow you to build AF quickly. always position yourself so you have a teammate or pet in front of the beam. don’t engage until your bar is full, keep distance. It takes me about 15 seconds to fill it up, you can do it as well.

we need a lot of work still, but the ranger is far from ignored.

Smokescale damage may have been nerfed. You may have preferred the smoke field on f2. That being said the burst is still strong, especially if you burst with your pet, which is what ranger damage has always been about.

On top of that Druid works quite well in pvp.

Have we arrived yet? Are we god tier now? All I know is Irenio is taking us in the right direction.

He did decent and now all the decent work he did is completely ruined thanks to the astral force gain change. Druid is utter garbage now, good luck using celestial avatar more than twice a match. Rangers are nerfed within days while other classes are nerfed within years. Anet legitimately hates Rangers. They can deny it all they want but their track record with it shows otherwise.

In beta testing druids were okay and just needed some tinkering to work well and nerfing in some areas. Right now druids are essentially utterly useless and a complete drag with absolutely no reason to use them at all… Good luck trying to use Celestial avatar.

Unfortunately I don’t think even tinkering with the hunter will help. They have given all these classes too much power with the new traits to do much good even as a druid. If you have noticed at all in matches you have mesmers and necros just about one shotting players, and Guardian traps were doing almost the same in my last match. The truth is the new traits belong in PvE not PvP due to such a big imbalance between talented and untalented players. Druid should have been a new class all its own, a healing class that would have made more sense.

CAF is fine to get if you are running staff. Thats the only problem really. Staff is pretty much mandatory.

Well, the problem is that all the signs for positive change were there…..and instead countless backwards steps were taken. Making the Astral Force decay out of combat, for example, was unexpected and disastrous.

People felt that the druid was ok, but unrefined. Now it is simply non-functional. It doesn’t heal well anymore and…..that was all it was ever good at anyhow. It really is in the situation of being good at nothing.

Its upsetting that it should actually have gotten worse after the single feedback session when it was already pretty rough as it was.

Furthermore, Glyphs have dual functionality that depends on celestial avatar form. There are also 3 traits that are directly dependant on the form as well.

I don’t like the forced degen, maining a necro it kinda screws with my mind when I’m playing it, but there is no denying that celestial form is pretty powerful, to say the least, even with low-no healing power builds you can pretty much stay alive for the duration with full health while being focused, which I think is awesome, and it requires smart countering.

Problems with Druid:

  • Not enough support boons to front the actual healing “such as stability to be able to stand up while using the heal animations” Mainly because →
  • The Ranger has always had problems surviving being focused 2v1 or 3v1. Where a D/D Cele Ele can live in situations like this to use it’s heals, the Ranger gets killed easily.
  • Needs more condi/removal and raw damage mitigation such as protections
  • Staff DPS is terrible, the loss in DPS pressure vs. the opponent is not worth the support healing. Literally numerically the lose in DPS is not worth the healing. This is no good in 1v1s or in team fights where a Ranger can’t be close enough to heal his team to begin with or he gets focused 2v1 and dies.
  • Celestial Avatar needs DAMAGE and it’s healing is not worth the the time spent in Celestial form. It is a stronger numeric value to keep pressuring the opponents with raw DPS than attempt those small heals.
  • Ultimately the Druid trait line doesn’t have enough chemistry with existing trait lines. It really doesn’t at all. What we needed was a rework on Ranger weapon skills concerning choppy clunky play

Druid specialization is a good idea in the right direction but the chemistry and actual dynamic of how these traits/skills interact in real gameplay needs a serious rework.
