Seriously this question has puzzled me for ages.

Every time I decide to have a game for Spvp everyone seems to charge into a giant enemy zerg even though the odds are severely against us they still choose fight and then die giving free points away.

I mean when you see something like 2v5 would you engage?
Someone always seems to think though.

I feel this kinda the main reason that teams are always unbalanced.
It’s not because someone was super powerful and wooped your kitten but does play a part in it) it’s because people fight no matter what the odds of winning are and when defeated they try again and again.

The effect of this means that zergs become the optimum way to go as player just charge in one or two at a time hoping to do something and each time are dispatched quickly. It’s like a bloody conveyor belt feeding a constant stream of free points to the enemy.

The only time when this doesn’t happen is when you have communication and premade team.

BUT wouldn’t you expect common sense to prevail as well?

There are some superb players that a fair fight to them would be 1v2, or 1v3, or even more against a bad group of players. I always charge in, always. Even if the odds are against me, and I always expect to win. Most of the time I can take out 2 players solo and a third if I’m in my zone.

One good player on a team can make a 5v5 seem like an unfair fight because that one player can easily kill multiples by him/herself. I notice a lot when I join games, whatever side I’m on usually dominates, and the other team starts leaving. Then I get put on the other side, and the team I was on before starts leaving…

Not everyone who charges in is giving the enemy free points. 2 good players can definitely take out 5 mediocre players. So it really depends on the player. But even bad player, I think being Rambo is a good thing cause even if you die, you’ve learned something and it can only make you better.

Dear god Hot boy, but how is it possible for someone to be nearly as skilled as yourself!? How could such a lowly pleb as myself achieve such ability to 3v1 and win!?

Oh right, Shatter Mesmer. I see.

Teamwork is necessary, I only rambo myself when I feel it is necessary to delay a group of enemies from capping a point, or deny them movement by standing in a chokepoint, etc.

It’s not the build, or the class, it’s the player. Some people just got the heart of a lion and you gotta let them be. No one can’t tell me not to charge in. I just go. I probably sound kitteny to you, but there are tons of outmanned videos on youtube. People just destroying groups by themselves. Or dispatching a zerg of 10 people with only 3. The proof is out there, being Rambo isn’t fail. If you’re a good player, you’re actually doing your group a favor by charging in and keeping 2+ players busy while they handle the rest.

It is impossible to defeat 3 good players singlehandedly outside of WvW.

Being realistic must be a stretch for you.

Of course, one good player vs another good player is a fair fight and could go either way. But not everyone is good. Actually most players are simply average in skill. If you charge into a group and kitten then great. If you fail cause they’re good players then at least you tried.

Ya when doing solo queues I always get the team mate that decides to constantly rush into 3-4 enemies and die almost instantly. They are the same players that don’t fight on the capture points and the ones who swarm 1 enemy. I’m guessing these are the cod players who can’t play games without constantly being in the midst of a battle.

I don’t blame them not many find fighting on a capture all game fun

Depends on the setting really. I tPvP, I wouldn’t want to give the enemy easy points, but in hot join I scream YOLO and go zerg diving.

If you can take down 3 people that’s fine. I don’t have a problem with that, it’s when people lose then get back and try the same crap several times over expecting different results, when their time could be better used capping undefended points since all of the enemy is zerged up.

Sometimes it’s necessary to bait the enemy away from what your target actually is. I will routinely run into 3+ people at mid with my Guardian, knowing that the rest of my team is about to push back point/stillness/etc.

I’m going on 24 and have watched first blood more times than I can count. You don’t need to be born when something comes out to know what it is o_O I’d say the majority, if not 90% of the playerbase knows exactly who rambo is.. HOW CAN YOU NOT!? He’s legend, plus the newest one was released not too long ago.

That sometimes is strang… and something I don’t like:

You are somewhere and fighting like 3 enemies and it takes them a lot of time to kill you and their team has 2 or 3 points captured. Shouldn’t it be then 4 vs. 2 for the other people remaining and your team being able to take the other stuff?

But then you often notice that there isn’t even a single point with swords appearing in the UI because they others are hunting somewhere else to get the kill instead of going to the points.

I do this sometimes. Because if I have the swiftness to reach the points I want in a reasonable amount of time, and the other team is silly enough to use 3-4 guys to try and take me out on one point, over and over, yes I die, but meanwhile my team should have capitalized on taking and holding the other two points easily with only a single player or two trying to take those two points from 4 other players.

Sometimes being a meat shield in this game works, since the goal is not to kill, it’s to take and keep points.

I made my team win a lot of fights in random tournaments with a bunker, distracting 2-3 people at once during the whole match. It’s really a great help.

Problem is, sometimes it happens you go into a point you assume is empty, and then you spot 3 enemies who already spotted you. Depending on your class, you may be just screwed.XD

And in “First Blood” Rambo always did 1v1s.XD

I’m going to desperately try to ignore the unbelievable narcissistic overtones of Hot Boy (the wonder that answers his own questions in the threads he makes) post to say that he does make a reasonable point.

Certain classes and builds can engage and/or distract a much larger group of enemies for some time. If they’re all trying to hunt down that annoying d/p thief, or working on taking down a fully build bunker guardian or d/d ele, they aren’t doing other things to contribute to their team. That one person doesn’t have to beat them all, they just need to slow them down enough to make their death worth what the rest of their team accomplished.

There’s a difference between a Rambo and a dumba’ss. A skilled, experienced player can pull off a Rambo and APPEAR to be in deep trouble, only to successfully bait the enemy team into a bad situation and turn everything around. (Example, chasing the BM ranger with the 1000-range leap every 6 seconds…not so smart for the opposing team)

A dumba’ss just runs in and dies.

i usually run when i see a “zerg” or.. odds not in my favor. i know what i can take on. and definitely know what i can’t.

there will be times when i see someone Rambo in, and be able to take on 3, 4, 5 and not dying. because they are skilled. or maybe, the opposition is less. then i’ll definitely jump in an help.

then there are also times when i see 2 rush 5 and they both drop like flies.

Is this tPvP or sPvP? If it’s sPvP the real question is “Why aren’t you?” i mean the only point of sPvP is to have fun and dominate bad players, i mean cmon, you can’t even test builds in there and get good results due to how bad half of the players in there are.

That and if you play a mesmer most people can’t grasp how illusions work and you going into an outmanned battle means nothing.

Because it is not even possible to out run the zerg at all as they have longer leap attack, chain cripple freeze immobilize knock down stun pull moa and has permanent swiftness on everyone of them and i have none.
Every sudden encounter its bog down to only hurt them a bit or die unable to run away.
There is no point to even try running away.
