“Dueling” in SPvP servers is incredibly inconvenient. Having to run long distances to get out of combat in order to heal, accidentally tab targeting players you aren’t dueling and wasting spells on them, having to be on opposite teams, all in all it’s just a frustrating experience.

I feel like dueling in any MMO with PvP is necessary to help people learn matchups. Not only does it do that but it teaches you more about how to play your own class, it brings the community together, it adds to immersion, and overall it’s just fun to be able to duel anywhere in the overworld.

Most other MMOs have overworld dueling and you would think it would be standard for MMOs at this point. I mean the games been out for three years. So why doesn’t a large, successful MMO like this have something that seems so basic?

Imagine dueling party members over drops, or for over world events. That would absolutely amazing. Honestly, what I think the reason is is that anet doesn’t see PvP that isn’t happening inside of the sPvP arenas as actual PvP. They even called WvW players as PvErs making the slow transition to PvP. Any game that isn’t in a tournament isn’t given much thought.

Make this suggestion in the Guild Wars 2 discussion thread there. Their reply is just full of dumb excuses.

5x Warrior, 5x Ranger, 4x Elementalist, 4x Engineer,
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant

The PvErs are phobic of any PvP within their PvE cuddle zone, I had a similar suggestion and they went nuts.

Dueling would be great, but I think for rp purposes, the downstate would have to be removed from dueling. Once a player goes down, he gets back up and the duel ends. The player who won the duel can now help rez his friend in a kind of gesture of helping someone up once you beat them.

The problem is that they don’t even try to balance the game in 1v1. With no duels most players don’t even notice how broken things are.

Open world is for PvE only. They do not want PvP elements in PvE, they haved stated this numerous times. Don’t even know why we need a new thread on this every time?

Not to mention, due to pve gear and the game not being balanced for 1v1, dueling would be a pointless kittening contest that would do nothing but introduce more trolling. Dueling servers exist. You can make your own or join an existing one. Also, there will be dueling in guild halls. So really, these threads are pointless, just like always.

Mesmers are OP and even more unbalanced in 1v1 because other classes can’t outplay them anymore.
The same is said in tpvp.

Eles are OP in 1v1 due to their heavy survival skills along with their bursty damages. Other classes can’t outplay them as easily.
The same is said in tpvp.

Everyone else isn’t on the same level in comparison… you can outplay other classes 3x as easily and it shows in tpvp. To say this game can only be balanced in either 5v5 or 1v1 is naive thinking because both can be done.
