but for real, anet just doesn’t care about pvp’s health. d/d ele which has been a huge problem in pvp for a long time is just being left to rule pvp. supposedly it will get nerfed, but the lack of a when and how leave me with little confidence.

Sure they care. Your hyperbole is unreasonable.
So, I can’t go into much detail on things quite yet, but I just wanted to reassure you folks that we’re actively discussing a number of issues that are affecting balance in PvP – including, but not limited to elementalist sustain/damage. Per the usual, we’ll be talking to you folks about the changes once we’ve finalized them.
Sorry I haven’t been that active on the forums lately – we’ve been pretty busy around the office.
“Thanks, Grouch. You’re the worst!”
Edit: Also, just because this is an elementalist thread doesn’t mean we’re only looking at elementalist, and it also doesn’t mean we’re only looking at doing nerfs.

remember those icebow nerfs that were supposed to happen? me neither.
remember mending becoming a physical skill? no, it just got nerfed
these devs have shown to be capable of breaking promises and screwing up simple things. the sheer amount of unfixed bugs classes like ranger and Engi have from the specialisation patch, and from before are insane. I don’t trust the devs to keep their word or not screw up.

You were one of those defending turret engi, by all considered bad for the ‘health of pvp’, the same one who was defending cele engi previous incarnation, calling stupid any who would not run similar “meta” build….now that engi is not on the spotlight..you worry about ‘pvp health’?

Might have defended cele Engi, definitely called people scrubs for losing vs turret Engi. turret Engi was stupidly simple to fight. I could always roll it half afk on celestial bombs engineer (not the old meta I might add, so I doubt I would have been pro cele nades at that point). sure, I’m a bit salty that anet ruined so much of our synergy in our traits and introduced more bugs but Engi is OK right now, not great but very playable.
regardless I think there is a big difference between cele d/d and turret Engi. one is viable in high level play, and multiple of them are being run on nearly every top team, and the other stomps noobs. if turret Engi was never nerfed the changes to condis would have been awful for them. burn guards would just dominate them, they would be no issue. d/d ele on the other hand does not suffer from bad condi cleanse, no stun breaks, bad mobility, etc. d/d else’s clear advantages over nearly all other specs and it’s mandated status in the professional scene obviously show that it is a problem.

Despite the changes, we can easily say that engi still viable and fun to use, about ele I don’t think people are debating against any changes…rather people are debating about the expected level of these changes.
I’m inclined to believe that people are expecting level of nerfs that would make ele completely unplayable but I’m confident that anet won’t go that route.
By unplayable for me means that you’d lose on ele against anything regardless of your efforts and expertise

They do care they just don’t think quick balance changes are the answer, I think they’re wrong, smaller iterative changes every fortnight should be made.
They’ve always been super slow. They “shave” then only shave once a year.
Because there is no balance team. There’s just a bunch of devs working on various projects and once in a while when they aren’t too busy they sit down and throw together a balance patch.

Sadly, this is true.

Likewise I feel the same.
The difference is I don’t kitten and just enjoy the chaotic ride of “balance”. They definitely wont come here to promise a fix for everything – I would really be surprised if they did – and even if they did, by now we’ve learned to take their word with a grain of salt.
So yeah, enjoy the “balance” ride.
Also, with the pvp ladder/rankings coming up… doesn’t that mean it will get slower? Since they really shouldn’t modify anything mid-season. Or perhaps they will balance before/after a season.

No, I remember them talking about changes to icebow, but due to the fact they are strong in pve everyone assumed those were going to be nerfs. Also, not sure why you’re so concerned, conjured weapons are complete trash in pvp apart from fgs, which is not all that great after the nerf to movement skills.
They take forever because whenever something changes the community whines regardless.
They let it be “op” for however long, and then if, after a while, the majority hasnt adapted or there is a concrete hangup with a bug, it gets fixed.
Either that or just genuinely slow.

He is talking about because his argument isn’t solid without referring to a worthless PvP skill.
Probably because (as you mentioned in your post) every time someone voices concern about an OP spec (as you, myself, and many others have recently done with burning on these forums), about a thousand fotm players come out of the woodworks, angrily insulting people who are pointing out their chosen spec is imbalanced.
Arena net will have to finalize their own, internal testing to confirm burning is OP because people with selfish interests make anything the community puts forward doubtful.
In about a month or two, when burning is toned down, you can happily post quotes to forum pages like this and laugh at everyone who tried so hard to insist their precious burning was balanced, I guess.
Until then, smear yourself in jelly and stop, drop, and roll! STOP, DROP, AND ROLL!
Remember those icebow nerfs that were supposed to happen? Me neither.
If Icebow was so good, I am pretty we would see it much more often. The buffs were on abilities that were even questionable to cast. And now, they are usable.
I think small changes every other week is better, Instead of these huge changes every other month or 4.
For instance they could take a single stack of burning from a skill and see how that plays out. If it’s not enough then you make another change here or there in a couple more weeks. Or for an underpowered skill you buff up a number here or there slightly and see how it goes. If it still feels off adjust it a bit more later.
Constant small changes will keep it better balanced and more interesting. Not so stagnant.
The same balance team we want to balance the current game is busy with the elite specs that are coming, there is no balance team that is entirely dedicated to the current state of the game.
Sad truth.
Anet doesn’t have a balance team.
As far as i recall game is balanced, Korean balance team always surprised me.
Tera gets more balanced updates then GW2, and that game is dead…..
I did remember a dev posting in this forum saying we were suppose to get a balance update before the expansion.
Well…. where is it? The expansion is almost a month away.
They’ve always been super slow. They “shave” then only shave once a year.
By “shave” you mean gut?
So pretty much everyone (except those who get carried by the spec) know that burn stacking is OP at this point. Why is it taking the balance team so long to fix it?
Cause they still didn’t figure out how to break the game even more…always making pvp worse is not as easy as it looks m8
