Since the devs that were once so open about their intentions and where they were with what completely shut up and started lie-ing to us (look at the ranger forums)
people have lost what adoring respect they once had for the game (so many people held it on a golden pedastol that it might be at all different than the last game they played).
The changes they want, the ones they think the game needs… with the devs only giving vague promises… people expect them to be working on those ‘dire’ needs the devs hint at and people post about and work solutions for exc… except that isn’t happening, at all, so people are freaking out.
No communication back.
People freak out more.
They are just starting to realize this dev team is extremely slow and quiet about fixing bugs and balancing… oh and just as ‘good’ at actually fixing them as any other out there…
Leaving the game for a few months (until it gets itself into shape) wasn’t most people’s desire or intention short of a catastrophe.

Alot of people are though. I hope they come back once the game is fixed though.
It’s because I just paid $60 for a game called “Guild Wars 2” whose gameplay mechanics are drastically DRASTICALLY different than “Guild Wars” so drastically different that I would argue they shouldn’t have even bothered calling this the sequel to Guild Wars.
If this was a new IP, unrelated to Guild Wars, then I would be more patient and open minded – (though honestly I wouldn’t have blindly bought it without the name Guild Wars attached). But Guild Wars 1 was extremely polished, satisfying and fun, and they attached that Guild Wars named to it.
So I mean if this was just “some game” it wouldn’ t be a big deal. But this is GUILD WARS…or at least it has the name of Guild Wars, and I had the MOST FUN PvP’ing in Guild Wars 1. In this game, which plays very much unlike Guild Wars 1, not so much fun.
They should not have called this game Guild Wars. That is my argument. If they wanted the game to be so different, fine. But don’t call it Guild Wars!!
It’s actually a pretty solid game. It’s just not Guild Wars. There are a lot of “good games” I could play, but I wanted to play GUILD WARS!! =(

A lot of people were expecting exactly what they wanted! It’s impossbile to offer a game that can meat everyone’s expectations. Adjustments are being made to the game though. Even more content is being added everyday. But even so, it’s not enough?
What is the accepted time to a game to have it’s features adjusted and the bugs corrected? 1 day? 1 month? 1 year? How about other MMO games? How long was their time?
Quitters will always quit!
Their main design decisions of crazy amounts of movement and very adaptable classes with little core…. well it means they have to throw out all the lessons learned by other PvP games… GW1, WoW, DAOC, WAR, etc. But people really want r a game that learns from all of those. I think?
So it’s kind of annoying to sit around here waiting for them to invent something new from scratch, especially when it’s hard to see how it could ever work. My opinion is they’ll have to really become more liberal/abandon their goals and give classes more focus and tone down the hyperactive amounts of “action movement” if they want to make more than Arena-style 5v5 fights or smaller work.
Just an opinion though.

B/c there “ranking” system in place now with QPs is utter garbage, there is no spectator mode or private servers… nothing along the lines of GUILD WARS at all… They spitted out all this dribble before the game went live only to be like..meh non existent atm.. where are they? Why do they lock every forum that someone calls them out on? Why are they not talking to us much now? OOOOO thats right 2 devs working on this game… LAWLS

Because this is a gaming forum, which has always contained, and always will contain, the vocal minority of said game’s population. The majority of players most likely don’t care to read, or even go to, the forums, which is why you most often see more negative threads than positive threads on gaming forums, the people who enjoy the game are playing it!
Also… there are people that came into the game expecting something different than what the game is, personally, I’m happy with the game and enjoy all of it, but every person is entitled to their opinion.
This is the spvp sub-forum and spvp is not meeting player expectations.
Maybe the forum is full of critical posts because they actually have legitimate complaints.
the game is unplayable, theres a ton of bugs and a ton more were added after the patch.
I’m not so sure about the life of pvp in this game. Gamers seem to lose interest quickly if they aren’t pleased. I have been playing (mostly pvp) since first public beta, and the decline in pvp population has to draw some attention. This patch was a small step forward when imo a large amount of pvpers were hoping for game changing updates. The only thing that keeps me playing is the fact its f2p.
I want to play the game, not spend my whole time here talking about the crap arenanet screwed. I am too benevolent to even think of giving this game a chance.

This is exactly right and it has nothing to do with trinity, there are simply no options to hybrid out your character. Hybrid into what, your choice of condition spec? That is not exactly hybrid options. The healing skills SUCK, control skills SUCK, Lifesteal and lifegain SUCK, they act like one second of fear or 278 points in lifestealing are a BIG deal, however they have -no problems- allowing 20+ stacks of bleeds/conditions in under 3 seconds or spammable 10 to 15 k 2 and 3 button abilities or if your a Mesmer F1. They do NOT have enough skills or weapon options, something we DID address in Beta forums.

Yet, when I play in american prime time, I never have any issues finding games in que (specifically tournies) and I know many players that have been playing pvp since day 1 and loving it, just as many people say they know players that have quit. There are always people that leave games after a month or two, and you also have to realize this time of year is the primetime for xbox and ps3, meaning that games such as Halo 4 and COD:BO2 are drawing players away for the time being.
Also.. as I’ve learned in time, you don’t really change others opinions on a forum, arguing about liking a game or the success of a game is like arguing about politics or religion, people don’t move from their corners.

I hope to be. I think this game has absurd amounts of promise. I also know what it is like for an MMO at launch (WoW was a mess… they all are). This has been a relatively smooth launch, all things considered.
That said, I am not logging in for a while (I do on occasion to check PvP population and to try out some of the changes… rarely though). It isn’t 100% ANet’s fault. They went the route of every other MMO and released when, I think, they shouldn’t have.
I am getting too old to spend what little time I do have to play games fighting bugs and waiting for the game to live up to its promise. I have moved back to Dota2 for the time being, and I am thinking about starting up an EVE account again. I will be back. I just don’t know when.

I think sPvP numbers aren’t looking good but I’m also getting the feeling that people just aren’t seeing a reason to jump into it quite yet. I know I don’t like conquest and I just haven’t felt like bothering with sPvP till I see a mode I like.
