A decision was made to turn off matchmaking over the weekend in the Unranked Queue.

It was known this causes blowouts as solo players get farmed by premades.

Why not set the matchmaking to high in Unranked, causing the majority of players, who are average MMR, to get a challenging match?

Yes, the queues would be very long for top skill players in Unranked.

But the majority of players would have had fun.

I don’t understand why they chose to let the blowouts happen instead of letting longer queues happen for the top skill players.

butch,

The question is, why not set it stricter over the weekend.

Top players don’t even like blowouts.

Butch, the fact that mediocre players or complete newbies to pvp get teamed up against top players and premades will hurt pvp more than it will help it. A lot of these players will be demoralized before actually improving their game in pvp, because noone likes being blown out. Or maybe anet should make a specific premade be teamed up against TCG or abjured all night long, just so they can have a feeling of how a night currently is for the newbies and mediocres. It’s even unenjoyable for the better soloists because they tend to be stuck with mediocres as well against premades.

Just because anet thinks more games = more fun!
The teams blowing newbies away, aren’t having fun, except the premades who keep requesting courtyard, cause they kittening suck at conquest.
The players blown away, get tired of it rapidly, so they generally do the daily and quit.

Gump, I agree. It turns people away from GW2 PvP who might end up being on top teams some day if they had fun, stayed, and worked on it.

It’s because anet simply does not want to cater pvp to majority of playerbase. Even now I just had a match with premade vs new player who just entered his first pvp match. It’s sad but also the most effective way to slim down the playerbase and keep attention to those few who strive for “esports”. The majority of players are considered as useless and dumb by anet and that is why they decided to reduce pvp, wvw and dungeon/fractal playerbase by not creating more contents.

That’s a very nice view you have of Anet, sadly probably very accurate when reviewing the last year and as you put it none or nearly no new content for these categories. 1 new pvp map at the cost of another… eotm, mess that it is and golem traits…. That’s it for new content if we don’t include LS!
