Why sPvP is as frustrating as it is
sPvP is frustrating to you because you are a poorly constructed pawn. Pawns of my clan get a burst of inspiration each time they fail, and redouble their efforts.
The state of PvP balance doesn’t allow a single player to carry their team. As a result, progress tends to be a direct result of getting multiple good teams/matches in a row.
Taking the concept to its conclusion, it is theoretically possible for two players to have the exact same number of wins and losses, but they could be in vastly different divisions/leagues based solely upon the order in which he got certain matchups.
Players with the same win/loss ratio should be in the same division or close to it
I agree that the pip system is the problem. I’ve posted my suggestion already to have a real league.

It’s not humanly possible to create a matchmaking system that can figure out how skilled you really are at the game as a single player.
They need to make ranked premade vs premade only, that is the only way a matchmaking system can actually work. If it’s seeing how good you are as a 5 man team, it’s much easier to find another equally skilled 5 man team.
True. Sometimes I get so such terrible teams that 0 chance to carry… sometimes I get teams where I could afk and we would still win… only in 2-3% of the games does personal skill count in very close games… which is bad….and everyone here saying you can carry… NOT

You also hit the nail on the head. After a few effortless steamrolls followed by " No you go straight to jail, do not pass this tier, do not gain a pip, you know what instead lose you pip." I for the most find myself logging on to GW2 just to play 1 maybe 2 sPvP matches then go into WvW for maybe one hour like once maybe twice a month if I need to relax in a highly noncompetitive Player vs Player environment just to cool off from the tooth and nail fighting I do as both a “SOLO” player and a group/premade team player in other games and MMOs.
But at least I admit it!
PoF guys get ready for PvE joys
Season 1 matchmaking/pip system was better. -3 to 3 pips per match. This winstreak and lossstreak stuff just makes lucky people winners.
Not sure if the issue is that one person can’t carry a team, but I do have the same experience of being in good teams for a few games and then getting placed in with people who don’t really know how to play for a few games, its really weird.
Main reason I quit playing pvp is because it is too stressful and annoying.
Not because of the builds but because of the matchmaking/players.
Every game is about praying to god you don’t get 4 monkeys in your team that try to cap far after they get mid every time or run around fighting off points chasing the PU mesmer/thief. It’s all about trying your best to watch their rotations and see what you can do to try and carry.
It is simply not fun, only stressful and quite annoying after a few sessions.
I think ranked is not that enjoyable because of the league/pip system. It would be faster and more balanced if the system would match similar skilled (mmr) players from the pool of all players queued up. And it should create only matches where it thinks both teams have about 50% win chance. And even with such basic rulez blowouts can happen caused by bad team composition and mixing solo and team queue.

That was a majority of my games yesterday.
I feel like I should make a highlight reel of those with the Benny Hill theme playing.
Also in that montage would be games on Forest where you’re on the verge of being 3-capped and your team is more interested in the NPCs.

Really insulting.
I dunno, it’s just like. Matchmaking is a complete mess, you push yourself to get to legendary so you get better teammates and can have more fun enjoyable games, but then once you arrive at legendary you have hour long queues and can’t even play the game, after barley being able to play the game for 100+ games of grinding to legendary.
I’m not sure what anet can do, but the entire Spvp ranked system needs another complete overhaul.
I’d honestly rather have no legendary back, no pip system, no reward tracks, no 30s from wins, no rank up bonuses, no rewards at all, but a working matchmaking system that lets me play fairly balanced games so I can actually have fun.
Having fun should be the main focus, not rewards. Fun. PvP should always be about fun. The balance is relatively good, the classes are fun to play as and fight. The game mode is pretty fun. It’s just the matchmaking. The matchmaking makes it not fun.
Please make PvP maches fun again, anet.

Yes, matchmaking is terribad. Just had a duoQ in team again with saphire+diamond and we had to fight against a full premade. Needless to say we lost.

This is exactly how it is for me 3 out of 4 games, except most times they don’t even go mid. I’ll get 2 or 3 sit home and 2 or 3 go far and die time after time the whole round fighting off point as though they were playing some sort of death match.
All of my pleading in team chat goes unanswered as I slowly pull my hair out.

oh single players can carry a whole team the problem is it is only possible via 2 professions Ele, and bunker druids and that is why it is frustrating
Ele’s cannot carry anything.
If your team cannot kill anyone, runs into the middle of nodes and into AOE CC circles when focused(so you can’t heal them) and never exists, you can’t do anything.
Sure, you can hold a single node 1v1 for a while, and 2vs1 for a bit, but that doesn’t win games. It just makes you lose slower.
Can people please stop acting like Ele is some godmode solo winner? It’s the worst possible class to play to carry, by far.
Ele is the worst carry, best carries are generally those that can kill stuff (rev/thief) or be super annoying at decapping (eg. druid/engineers/thief/mesmers)
Ele support only does so much if your team isn’t up to scratch.
