Why take away hotjoin?
They only removed the practice button. The Hotjoin server browser and the “Play Now” button is still there on the 3rd tab of the pvp menu.

they should re add it is all I mean – I know the practice button is there but that’s mostly for trolling 1 player and so on
Unranked is where you would test builds properly that is where top players would go unless you’re totally new to the game and have no idea what you’re doing then the browser would be best choice. Personally hotjoin for me was a joke I couldn’t test my builds properly due to leavers, the dumb autobalance thing and servers full of trolls.
Hot Join was always for trolling people… frankly it is worse now than it has ever been in the past.

Unranked is where you would test builds
The problem with unranked is that you can’t change any skills, traits etc. after the match started. You can’t even add a second pet if you only started with one into the match because of the ranger pet bug. So you might already realize a problem with your build in the first encounter and have to spent a whole match playing with it, that’s not really helpful for testing purpose.
I personally would have never started playing PvP if it weren’t for the practice button. I mean, I didn’t even start as a complete newbie because I had been playing a lot of WvW before but I was always very scared of embarrassing myself in PvP. But the practice button gave me a save feeling of “well, it’s not that bad if I mess up there, it’s just practice” whereas unranked was that scary place where I didn’t dare to go until I found a build that I felt very comfortable with.
And I really really don’t think that you can expect most new players to figure out the hotjoin system hidden away in the third tab…

It’s Unranked, if you mess up in Unranked it’s not that bad because it’s just Unranked.

That’s what people keep saying but in reality there’s a lot of salt going on.
