Why to not nerf DH traps
You have crap survivability when you opt for traps. Not to mention they are: casted under you and require a trigger.
Ignore all the boons they give, the CC, the double stun break and the 11 stacks of Aegis along with F2 and F3 being amazing defenses. They only require a trigger if you didn’t place them while near someone, regardless of whether they were moving or not. Is this a thread about Thief and Ranger traps?

Imho fact that they often are invisible after trigger is enough to move some damage from them to LB… anyway they are utilities, show me utilities of any other class that can down people.
I don’t think the traps need a big nerf, what I find really hard to deal with and very frustrating are all the CC that comes from the DH and the Traps add quite a lot to it:
- Multiple dazes from the traps
- Longbow 5
- Elite trap
- Spear of justice pull
- Knockback by shield or possibly close range arrows if traited
That’s just insane… I think the dazes on the traps simply need to go and Longbow 5 needs to be tweaked.

You got 5 fragments in a tiny area that last 8 seconds, unless they are ignoring you it’s pretty easy to get most or all.
Pretty inevitable that they will be nerfed. I don’t think they’re overpowered against experienced/knowledgable players, but the community is making enough noise that it’s pretty much inevitable.
I just hope they do something like Morwath suggested and move damage to the LB or do something like that so that DH doesn’t completely lose its viability.
Their last change to traps was a reasonable shave, so it seems like ANet is being cautious on a nerf, which is nice.

Nekro wells, Chrono wells, Ranger traps, nearly all Engi stuff, Ele glyph of storms is what comes to my mind. I don’t know if Revenant has any.

Necromancer have 2 damaging wells that have like double the cooldown, no CC and less damage spread over a longer duration. Chronomancer wells again only have 2 damaging wells that do less damage and only 1 CC though you can place it twice with Continuum which is broken too. I wouldn’t count Engineer utilities since they don’t get a weapon swap and turrets can be destroyed. Elementalist Glyph of Storms has a long cooldown and you only have a chance to be hit, guaranteed hit elements do low damage over a long duration. Revenant utilities are from forms but they still don’t do much damage it’s all the weapons. Ranger traps have 1 second knockdown and then any damage can be removed with condition removal.

Uhhhhhh? medi guardians survivability relies on Meditations which are utilities and directly conflict with traps. For every trap a guardian takes they lose 1/3 of the survivability they had from a full medi build. If they are running 2-3 traps they might as will not even go down the Valor line at all, since the only other thing in that line is Smiter’s Boon. Also since they are going into the DH trait line we can assume that 33% of their build is nothing like a medi build. So basically the thing they have in common is the Virtue line which pretty much every guardian build has.

He simply said we should tell him utilities that can down people. I posted the first few that came to my mind.
Nowhere did I say they are all equally good or bring equal boons/CC.
I for myself sometimes play with 2 Nekro wells and they are more than enough; not that frontloaded but still enough dmg at range with nice boons. The new Chrono wells also seem to be quite good in different aspects.
Further I think that (nearly) all classes/elites should be nerfed, some a bit more than others. But the powercreep is real and I don’t think it is that good for the game.

The sad thing is that there are far worse things than DH traps, yet Dh trap are being OP.
I doubt it will stop, Anet will make game even more dull and easy for some classes, just expect skill updates.

learn to trap dodge and not spec glass cannon. If you waste dodge tokens and you do not know what your dodging ? Sorry your bad and you need to play some other classes and learn there mechanics. For real sick of the qq. I have also played against Bunker Necro / Ele / Rev / Guardians / Warriors that unskilled 5 man teams cant kill. Why not cry about something relevant like that lmao.
I think dh traps might need a buff . Ideas…reduce cd’s to 1 second for all traps. Second increase range of traps. Make them the size of the map (atleast). Making them bigger than the map might be op tho.

LOL show me those wars a 5 man team can’t kill, I’m absolutely dying to see one. From what I’ve read it seems you claim you can beat 2DH’s going at once against you…well dang bruh, I think you should go for ESL, heck you could probably win the WTS by yourself without a team.

I’ve never seen anyone dying to Wells alone.
Ranger traps are hillarious compared to DH traps and can just be cleansed.
Which Engi stuff can down players in your opinion without your help? Even overnerfed turrets can’t.
Ele Glyphs are so stronk that nobody uses them…

As someone said, I think the problem is the CC.
- a trap that you cannot leave without stability (elite trap)
- a skill that you cannot leave without stability and for which the animation is often not shown so you can’t even avoid it in the first place (LB 5)
- a trap that you should not escape except while dodging (test of faith)
- a trap that you should definitely try to escape (procession of blades)
- a trait that daze you on trap
- a trait that randomly pushes you (e.g. to cross the trap) on longbow
there such thing as too much CC. This is oppressing.
except you don’t. nobody would mind traps if guardian actually died fast for only using traps.
- new virtues are ridiculous, they’re head over shoulders better than core virtues. imo, the new virtues are the biggest issue.
- longbow is too strong, most professions can’t out-kite it when combined with the 10000 sources of blocks DH has.
- dragons maw is an “i win” button in most cases considering stunbreaker movement skills and evades will literally do nothing and teleporting out will still knock you down.
just like the older version of medi guard pre-spec update, this build exemplifies low risk, stupidly high reward.
