Hi everyone, I made this thread because my experience in ranked this season has been massive win streaks taking me to about 2k rating immediately followed by huge loss streaks taking me to about 1800 rating. When it is really bad I go from 1800 to 2000 and all the way back in 2 days. It upsets and annoys me more than anything else I have ever experienced in this game. It feels like there is nothing I can do about it. yes of course if I play better I can win but even though I COULD win if I played better, it just doesn’t make sense. Easy wins for about 20 games followed by endless losses is really annoying me and is making me hate pvp more than I ever have. Even when I am on a win streak, i know I am just gonna drop down the leaderboard soon.

I want to know if any other people are having a similar experience because most of my friends, who are all top 250, are all staying at the same kind of rating or climbing very slowly. Unlike many people who are complaining, I WANT to be stuck. It will make me less angry than this is doing. I already played nearly 600 games this season. I really, really don’t want to play another 300-400 to get to top 25 which is my target. But if I have to, I will.

Yes, as you can all tell by the very fact I am making this post, I am on a loss streak right now. That shouldn’t change anything though, because I want to know if anyone else is having the same experience as me. This is making me hate my time playing this game even though I know I have to keep going to achieve what I want.

I get these kinds of win streak followed by loss streak, though a bit lower in the leaderboard. I assume it means it’s where I should be.

Rating isn’t 100% accurate. alternating between 1800 and 2000 is in itself being stuck.

I’m in gold and I don’t complain. for a first time pvp’er with a trash build.

Not everyone is meant to get to top 100.
Most people complaining about it make it sound like it’s a grind when it’s a leaderboard. You don’t just grind easy wins to top100. Maybe I’ll get to plat this season.And maybe not. I’ll train more and tweak my builds.

Yes. First I thought it was just me having a bad day, which resulted loss, which resulted even worse gameplay. Then on a good day couple of wins, better drive, more wins.

But I’m actually starting to think that it’s not even me and my bad and good days. Lately other players have been pointing this out too. At good days I get games, where my team just dances on enemy’s grave and I feel like I don’t even need to do anything and we’d still win. At bad days the games can seem impossible to win.

Also it’s almost always Win streak, loss streak, win streak, loss streak, hardly ever 2 good or bad streaks in row. Also having mixed days seems to be very rare. For me it feels like the game is forcing me to 50/50 win ratio, but that’s probably just me and my foil hat.

Though it would be funny if the code had some bug where it throws people with loss streak to same team resulting super bad morale which isn’t exactly helping to win the games . Well, “funny”.

If you look at the top 50, you get people there who solo but they struggle to stay there as loss streaks happen solo queue and the variance is high.

In addition, if you boost your rating by duo queueing and then play solo at that boosted rating then you will be a series of difficult matches.

Lets say:
Your true rating whilst duo is 2000
your true rating whilst solo is 1900

so if you duo to 2000 and then solo then the matchmaking will expect you to carry like when you were duo. And you will have hard games and lose.

the same can happen playing just solo. If you hit some good variance and get to 2k then maybe you arent actually that rating and the game will expect you to carry more than you can and you will drop. In addition, you can drop to 1800 and the game thinks you are worse than you are so you will go on a win streak.

The key this ranked system is not to get too obsessed with it. I just play to have fun and try and improve. With that mind set i lose alot of frustration

I have exactly the same experience. Good winstreak brings me to top ~75, but a few losses later I’m back to 250 or sometimes even out of the leaderboard. I basically only soloQ atm. Also the difference in losing 15 to 20 MMR when I lose a match compared to gaining 9 MMR when I win a match is also a bit though.

I feel that I belong somewhere in the top 100, so if I lose to an enemy team with top10 DuoQers or something I can live with it; they are just better than me. But often match losses for me are caused by an awful teamcomp or just one or two awful players in my team. I won’t yell at them or call names like many other people seem to do, but it can be very frustrating :P

Sometimes win/los streaks happen because of the time (low player population gives odd matchups)

But if this happens around prime time, it seems the system works as supposed

Yeh the off hours probably are part of the reason why this does happen.

What are by the way considered the general peak/off hours in PvP and what timezone? I play at NA server and live in Europe so I’m having a hard time getting my head around that. Besides isn’t there like…5 hours apart from east to west coast?

This isn’t limited to this season or even ranked. The Unranked matchmaker does this as well.

It’s something intrinsic to how the matchmaker is implemented.

Simple, remember the times of your win streaks and when a lose streak starts – go PvE watch a film clean the dishes etc

Yeah, same for me. Was on a 12 game win streak in ranked. Suddenly the game experience changed. Before it was fun. People seemed to know how to play. Almost no communication was needed. Then suddenly team mates that flamed a lot, made beginner mistakes and overall made me feel like the odds were stacked against me. This is from my last game. The game wants me to carry hard or lose. I’m not a top pvp player I just want games where the players have a similar skill level.
