I’m wondering, since in Stronghold you don’t actually need to kill the lord to win the match, because you can win by simply having the most points at the end of 15 minutes, what’s keeping players from just meeting in the middle and battling it out and accumulating the most points and essentially making Stronghold a glorified Team DeathMatch mode.

Maybe winning by points should be removed?

The team that wins more team fights is naturally going to push towards the lord and go for the kill. The end result will probably be the same, whether they kill the lord or accumulate more points. That is, unless, going for the lord kill puts them at a significant disadvantage, then they might stall the match out for 15 minutes and win by points.

Perhaps they’ll need to go more MOBA and increase respawn timers as the match goes on, and the match doesn’t end until the lord is killed.

I’m sure ANET is still tweaking stronghold, along with many things being introduced in the xpac. Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.

With the brain-dead NPC AI from the demo videos last week, it shouldn’t be hard to just focus down the lord.

I watched just a few of the match videos but all the one’s I watched were blow out scores. I presume it was a blowout in favor of the side who killed the lord but couldn’t really tell. I’m not even sure how you score points actually.

I also noticed that the NPC’s seemed rather weak.

still if you make a mdoe that is about sieging a base, then player kills shouldnt be even part of the point score, thats also a problem in conquest where the main objectiv should be conquering points and not palyerkills, which is however enquraged i think ti was on spirit watch where you get additional point for killing people with the chieftain and svanir buff.

or did anyone saw any Unreal or quale team death matches where they also captured the flag? to get additional kills or the other way around?

The match is won when a team reaches 500 points or whoever has the most points after 15 minutes. Killing the lord awards 500 points, so it’s an instant win.

Points are awarded for other activities related to NPCs and for killing enemy players.

You mean the demo in which everything was made easier due to the time limit. (If you are to believe Colin).
