Since the community seems to be of split minds (and loud opinions at times) on leaderboards and how solo Q affects them; I propose discussing a simple question:
Would you rather team with somebody with a poor rank from solo Q or team with somebody who is inexperienced. I understand the immediate answer for some people is going to be neither, but let’s say the population of spvp grew so sparse that the choice is necessary between these two.
Again, teaming with somebody with a poor rank because they solo Q, or teaming with somebody with significantly less experience?
It’s a loaded question that can go several ways… Is the person inexperienced but competent? If so that could make them a more viable choice than someone who just solo queue’s and plays stupid.
Is the person solo queue’ing because they don’t always feel like making a team but is still pretty decent on an individual level? That could make them far superior to an inexperienced player.
Personally I crew with both. I prefer players who have a certain level of pvp competency but detest players who have picked up and are blindly attached to their bad habits in pvp. Sometimes -teaching- a new guildie how to pvp properly is superior to working with a bad pvp player who sticks to his bad habits.
At the end of the day it doesn’t matter between those 2 options, it mostly depends on my mood and how much I want to micro another player.
You mean people are actually taking the leader boards seriously?
Got to laugh at that!
If i’m going solo it’s for fun so i don’t care who i get in my team, if we are going to face a decent premade we are going to lose anyway so i don’t really care that much..
Take the pugger every time. He’s probably a better player than some on good teams because he doesn’t have people peeling for him every time he makes a mistake, etc.

Before i laugh with you at that XD
From leaderboards FAQ
Q: Does leaving a match early affect my rating?
A: If you leave a tourney/ranked match early, yes, your rating is impacted as if you sustained a loss. Once you finish another match, this “loss” is then factored back into your rating.
Thats good, but 5vs5 will be 4vs5(when 1 leave) you can say it depend on skills and you can win against 5 ppl easy(lets say same number of classes and same skilled ppl) now 4ppl team get loss or no? if not 5 ppl team get win or no?
Well that’s the point of the discussion, I was following discussions on threads about “rank suicide,” and then saw some of the negative comments aimed at Solo Q people come out of it.
My opinion on it is that generally, the rank on the leaderboard shouldn’t matter at all. Experience is a bigger factor for me in determining teams. If we had the option, I would prefer to see the same stats that for other people that we see for ourselves individually when we bring up the pvp UI (the pie chart with class usage stats, and wins, wins with that class, top stats, etc) but for tourny play only. Then people could see what classes people prefer and how much experience a person has with a class to get an idea on the playstyle of another person and what that person likes to play (generally people are better at what they like because they gravitate towards and want to succeed more at it). I’m honestly not sure if you can already do this, but I don’t think it’s possible.
However, I feel that the people I mentioned who have a negative outlook on Solo Q and subsequently, ranks determined by solo Q, are trying to use leaderboards to determine the aforementioned information, when one simply does not imply the other.
So yes, I would pick the more experienced player (at first) every time, then try the team comp and see if it works.
