Lol, you’re rank 22, which means you barely started playing pvp.

Wait so what your saying is that anet based its mmr on what people did in previous seasons and not current skill level? good job bro you make total sense
(edited by hiba.1674)
Because winning against low rated players dosent give much MMR. Why its so hard to understand??
MMR at the start of season is based on your MMR at last season. If you had MMR 2000 on last one then at the beginning of this you would have ( 2000 + 1200 )/2 + whatever you got from placement games.
You beat scrubs and they beat the best players in the game. It’s not rocket science.
We did not have to see this.
Because winning against low rated players dosent give much MMR. Why its so hard to understand??
The next question becomes why is this person playing low MMR players if he is 8-2.
They should have the ability to play higher ranked players to get a more accurate MMR.
For instance i know a player who went 13-3 and is a former number 1 solo que player as well as top 200 team que player in the old system who is currently ranked in the top 150 when players are 25-23 are above him.

Oh yea, because it’d be a great idea if we hard reset everyone back to 1200 MMR every season regardless of how well they did.
And before you say anything, it’s not a great idea. It’s a terrible idea.

Can you show me a quote/confirmation of this from Anet? Because I doubt that’s the case. They specifically said that everyone was reset for this season so it contradicts your statement.
Whatever the case, I agree the placement system is kittened up and needs to be looked into ASAP. I have a buddy who haven’t played since season 2, he tried the new season and got 5 wins and 5 losses in placement and placed something like 1550 and stopped playing. I’ve been been playing non-stop, legend every season – I now have 40 games won out of 60 played and still can’t catch up to my buddy. Go figure.

“every season will start with a soft reset of the previous season’s rating”
You may have been Legend in previous season, but it doesn’t mean your MMR was good. Last 4 seasons were grind to win.

Of course but the reason why people are losing it is because of this.
Many players are going 8-2, 9-1 10-2 etc etc etc.
Yet they are not allowed to face better players so they can accurately examine themselves and it shows the negative side of the match making.
For instance a player i know went 7-3 and ended up with a rating under 1600. That person i believe is now 17-6 and is still right under 1600.
There are just so many people with incredible win rates.
You can point MMR but Anet needs to give everyone a fair system to grade themselves on. Maybe not throw them to the dogs and have them face ESL levels players right off the bat but maybe this 1400 rating person face 1600 and 1700 players next.
Also it explains why Anet isnt showing ratings. If i have 2 silvers and 2 bronze on my team and im in platinum and im facing 1 legendary and 4 silvers. That becomes a issue as well as the current post of players having a 80-90% win rate and asking why they have to start in silver which is a fair question to ask.
MMR at the start of season is based on your MMR at last season. If you had MMR 2000 on last one then at the beginning of this you would have ( 2000 + 1200 )/2 + whatever you got from placement games.
If this is the math and I hope it isn’t, it means I’ve lost nearly 600-700 rating points via bad match making.
Every loss gets worse allies, now my allies don’t even fight on points (refer to pic minimap, they were there since Tranq).. I’m starting to think newer players get to start with an Average players MMR when they’re not even an average player yet combined with the “win 3 games to make up for 1 loss” set up… Feels like a detrimental system to me.

Here is a quote where pvp dev mentions how your MMR for this season was calculated:
Soft reset: (Previous Rating + 1200) * 0.5
However, everyone’s deviation got reset, so your still move up and down a lot from this new rating.
The only thing that bothers me is that you can be put in legend right after placement. I think at least for legend you should be forced to play games instead of afking for entire seasons so cap as far as you could have been put should have been maybe 1750 so people actually would be forced to play games.

You might want to remove the “7.3k hours in game. 25+ toons. Still bad.” from your sig before complaining like that.
I think placement matches also have to do also with how well you perform because I lost the majority of my matches and still got placed in Gold.

Why? If anything it backs up what I said about being in the wrong division/tier. Did you look at that minimap photo? I can post these from every game I have. I am bad, but I’m not “only been playing PvP for 3 days” bad.
Also that 7.3 k hours, roughly 6.8k was spent in WvW and PvP. I finished the story once when the game came out, did map completion twice and been in the mists since then. the 25 toons all have berserkers gear from PvP lobby, I have 1 toon left that’s equipped for WvW and I’m a level 8 fractal.
All I have left to love in this game is broken matchmaking. Also I’m aware that pic I’m winning but geez, all I did was cap empty points while everyone fought off point, so much fun for that game….. (sarcasm) Here’s another photo, take note about my allies fighting far on thier own cap node while I’m trying my hardest to cap clock tower and home by myself on a support build. (yes, you can laugh at skillbar, it’s a point control build.)

My point was referring to how you know you’re bad and should strive to improve first before saying you’re done with PvP and by your lengthy “I’m a PvP/WvW only player and PvE sucks” generic rant the game in general.
If you’re playing a support build why the hell are you capping empty nodes instead of supporting your allies? Your role as defined by the skills you took (mostly healing and cleansing utilities with some control) says you should be in the team fight, if you are not that is on you and the mistake is yours. If you’re in those fights you should be helping to end them and roll the map, that’s your role, that’s how you win.

OOoooohhhhh… Yea, my skill is capped due to my Arthritis in my fingers but I’m mostly referring to general knowledge of PvP of which my allies have little of.
You are correct, being support I should be in the team fights and it’s a valid question I find myself asking almost every game, why am I the support and still capping empty nodes? Shouldn’t the thief or a mobility class be taking care of that? Should I go fight off point with my team just so I can heal them? Or should they fight on point? To me, they should be on point and rotating accordingly, not feeding far on their own point or expecting to me to heal them at tranq 2 minutes after the buff has been channelled. Not sure if you realize, but you’re inadvertently agreeing with me unless you actually believe I should have gone and 5v2 that far point? Cuz if I did, we wouldn’t have had home OR clock tower, not that we had home anyway because my team was spawning and running far to die.
I can tell by many others that I’m not alone in cracks of this match making, while it may be a great concept it obviously needs some tweaking, the matchmaking that is. Once you drop below a certain level of your own skills, it becomes nearly impossible to carry the games. I am an Average player, not a pro so there is no chance I’ll ever be able to hold 2 points alone or support a team that doesn’t understand Conquest is about Point control.

I was watching a stream by either Sindrener or Helseth and they more or less said it’s extremely hard to carry in a support role. There’s a reason why you see the top streamers on the top spots playing roamer classes which might join a team fight to spike a kill and then move to 1v1 or 1v2 another point before leaving and pushing in to their inept team and doing the job for them.
If Helseth gets a few more subs he’s going to do a stream where he starts of with as bad MMR as possible and carries his way up to what I’m guessing a top 250 place. Will certainly be interesting to see.

Nice, here’s hoping you get the rating you deserve now by carrying your team. Does highlight a massive flaw in the league design though.
